Their Ana deserves a lot of credit for that win. Whilst the LW didn't really try to adapt or playmake, the Ana noticed how their tank only had W binded, so took up aggressive positioning on attack to compliment that playstyle. That made Mauga into a raidboss getting consistent heals, and the enemy couldn't do anything about that until they had an Ana of their own to purple the Mauga
Yeah I just go Zen or Moira in that case, pretend I don't have a tank, and flank😂 Mf feeding them more ults than being useful to their own team anyway. (In bronze though. Them potatoes often completely piss themselves because of flanking Moira. And some games you get a vc'd 3+ stack for enemy and piss yourself instead😔)
As a Lifeweaver main, watching this vod was tough. From the gameplay I'm seeing, Plat is definitely where this person should be right now. There was nothing insane about their plays and I don't think they've actually gone back and watched it from an objective standpoint. They seem to think "we won, it was obviously because of me," and that can be a hard mindset for people to get over, praising yourself for team successes while lambasting your teammates for losses. And as you said, the Petal Platform usage was abysmal. I was almost yelling at the screen for them to use it in front of the firetruck on first point, or when his teammates were behind the wall after first point on defense, or to get up to second point high ground. So many opportunities to use it to great affect. Also, listening to emongg and chat discussing Petal Platform cooldown hurt my brain lol. The cooldown starts as soon as you use it, and the platform will last forever if no one steps on it for the entire game. If you stand on it the entire time it's up, it will last as long as your cooldown, so you'll have another one as soon as it breaks. The enemy team killing the platform has no effect on the cooldown, it is constant. The uptime of the platform is only reduced when it's used it to raise someone or if someone is actively standing on it.
Mainly the only time I think a win is because of me is when we're not doing well and then suddenly turn the whole game around at the same time that I switched heroes. Was it really me? Hm...
@@DJBaphomet The issue is that pre-placing petals is like, really dangerous if you aren’t 100% sure you aren’t gonna need it in the next 10-15 seconds. The best way to pre place petals is to know where you want it to be and yeet it. It only shaves off a few seconds, but a petal in the pocket is worth 2 on the ground.
They complained about their tank but the Mauga just going in constantly and almost never dying for it is the reason they did as well as they did. The other team couldn't figure out what to do about him.
@@Senor_Fast yeah the real truth is, lw has a really deep kit and you can do a lot of cool things with it. If you manage to do all of them, cancel all the ults, make all the right pull and petal plays, time preemptive heals perfectly, everything perfect... Then you'll be on par with a sub average juno in terms of actual contribution to a win. You have to do more, you have to be fancy and imaginative with his kit to genuinely climb on him. Reacting to everything perfectly isn't going to get you anywhere, all supports have to be proactive to really make a difference.

I’m gold 5 and a LW main.. I would walk circles around this guy lol he’s silver at best. Not using petal for his ash as an elevator. Every pull was within arms reach and had 0 value. Horrible tree timing.. LW has no falloff dmg, poke tf out of em at distance! Character with awesome mobility and he’s always on the ground with terrible positioning.
Emongg's talk about making plays resonated so much with me because I've been trying to get Bap's cute spray achievement again recently. Naturally, I play the hero as safe as possible to avoid dying, and I so often notice how I have to go against my natural instinct of going in and making a play that could have won a fight but also risked me dying (this is all in qp before someone accuses me of throwing people's ranked matches). Not dying is nice, but you really have to take the risk at times if winning is your priority.
What I find confusing is if he doesn't see someone to heal, he just does nothing instead of shooting at enemies, though he did seem to figure it out later in the game.
Man, every LW player I seen in this series doesn't utilize petal proactively and at 13:30 is when I had to type this. Blizzard even made the adjustment of timing with the usage of the petal and planting one down to get people to use it more often. He could have continued pushing the cart but launch a petal forward to have Pharah continue to be in the air without using their fuel for a little while. This definitely doesn't show this is their main hero used to climb.
As a Masters support who sometimes plays LW, this player does not deserve masters like they claimed. Maybe high plat. Actually, I'm going to downgrade them to low plat after some of the things I saw.
im plat 2 and this person is way worse than the people i usually see tbh. most supports in my rank(from my experience) know not to healbot 96% of the time but this guy doesnt know. 🤷

Thsi looks like when I was just learning LW when I had like 30hours on the game overall and even as gold player I can tell you I saw more activity form my rank lw.
@scath_mac_tire2735 oh yeah they weren't optimizing the heals at all. The rapid spamming was sorta driving me crazy. Also, I don't remember then pre-charging any heals. If I'm not healing or doing damage, I'm holding onto a full charge in anticipation of one of my DPS taking a lot of damage.
Im tempted to agree with the leaving point. I know people could take advantage, but losing SR because of someone with a poor mental game is frustrating.
Or even just bad connection. I've lost games where we were crushing the other team only for one of my teammates to, presumably, disconnect and we end up losing a game we we well on our way to winning.
True but that doesn't happen enough to be relevant to climbing ranks. Even if it did, that applies to both teams as well so his rank is still what he deserves. Not their teammates' fault if this groundweaver can't play as good as masters like he did in the past.
I kinda agree on the fact that one match lost due to a leaver also punishing your SR is dumb. But those are rare cases on every rank, it's not the norm. I don't know if there's a way to program around it and I don't have experience with other games to understand if this is something that can't be avoided. But blaming leavers, throwers and everything else as the reason you're in your rank is the stupid part. Yes, you get those kind of people. But you also get people high above your own skill level in your team too. You also get people leaving on the enemy team. The enemy team will also get throwers. At some point if you want to climb up the ranks you have to start thinking that the only thing in common in your games is yourself (and/or your duo/group). When you realize that you're in the same rank as all those people and that you're there for a reason, then you'll see how to climb out. I used to be bronze for about three seasons when i started in comp (i played a lot of QP) and I was convinced my QP experiencie should've been enought to put me at least on plat. Turns out when I started working in my own mistakes i started climbing. Yes, you're gonna have bad luck in some games where you get those kind of people. But believe me, you aren't gonna drop from Masters to Plat just because of those people. You're gonna lose ranks because maybe you were boosted by good rng in matchmaking. Maybe you were having a good series of games/seasons. At some point, if you belong in a rank, you're gonna be in it for a while.
@@BrazenBull91 Honestly, depends on the week. I've had weeks where I don't have a single leaver, and I've had disconnects in like 5 consecutive games some other weeks. When the latter happens, it's very disheartening watching all your SR just leech away in games you lost due to no fault of your own. In the grand scheme of things I'm sure it evens out, but it's very frustrating while it's happening.
I bet this dude got to Masters in season 3 where we had a huge rank inflation. if you got to Masters the honest way, then you should be able to climb back with no problems.
The heal charges in the background. But also! You can charge the heal and right click into needles to store the full charge heal. They deal less damage if they're dead. Shoot first heal after. Petal is free highground, a sheild, super jump, a foil, and even good bait (if you watch and cancel it)
40-50 shots reloads your healing and about 3 fully charged heals reloads your weapon, i feel like this brings a lot of extra value in team fights and builds your ult super quick. great tip to learn on lw
They seemed like a gold/plat lvl player to me. Especially considering the fact they didn’t seem to understand how incredibly hard their Mauga dominated and carried that game along with the Ana who kept him up. This LW barely had to play the game. He pushed cart and he held down an auto aim button… trees were okayish, very few good petals, very few good pulls, let teammates die from lack of using petal to hold good angles. This guy didn’t used to be masters, he got to masters once before the rank reset which really means he got to diamond at one point but is currently in plat which seems about the correct skill lvl.
Dude you just tell this LW was tilted at their team, they hide in the back the entire fight and only heal if someone retreats into LOS. Literally doesn't care if their tank is about to die.
Setting the petal pre-fight also free's up the NEXT petal for whatever ult you are defending against. EG: that last Orisa ult, they didn't have a petal for because they'd just put it down

Okay, I'm 11 minutes in and I will say this is not a plat LW. Plat LW will make dumb decisions, but at least anyone who gets to plat on support without being boosted will try and make plays. I have just seen this LW spam "group up" to his Mauga while he's on cart. A plat LW would either dash to heal/pull the Mauga. Maybe both. I've seen this behaviour in low gold/high silver lobbies where supports go directly into cart and they stay there trying to move the objective without any other thought. So I think he has a lot to learn before actually deserving to be plat. I would say mechanics are the only thing keeping him in plat... but most of his hero pool doesn't even take a lot of mechanical skill.
chat is crazy about the petal. petal CD starts when you throw it... that's it, that's all. when the ability is ready again you can throw another one. doesnt matter if it's been damaged or destroyed or self-destructed or anything like that. the duration on the life of the petal drains when the petal is elevated, and pauses when it's on the ground.
Simple change for this player: there should almost always be a petal down somewhere that's useful to the lifeweaver (for easy healing line of sight, pulls and tree placement) or teammates (to reach high ground). If the first petal is placed early in a relatively safe spot, the cooldown really isn't that long and another one be ready for big utility plays or as a secondary escape. Basically lifeweaver gets 2 charges of petal with this method. Just make sure to break a platform when it may benefit the other team.
The strengths of Lifeweaver (and what makes him fun tbh) are his pulls and his petals, and this person ain't getting enough value from either. People have said it already, but putting down a petal preemptively is a great idea cos it leaves you or a teammate with an escape or repositioning tool, and after using it you can immediately throw another petal if you want to cos the cooldown will have reset in the meantime. By not doing that, you're denying yourself the chance to use the ability twice. As for the pulls... it's good if you anticipate the need to use it to be positioned away from your team rather than bunched up with them, so you can pull someone somewhere safe. On first point defense they could have used a petal to get highground and pull the Ana up there. And if it was a pre-placed petal, they could have dropped down if someone jumped up there, then immediately used another petal, buying time. I also notice times they're hanging back, rather than moving into range of their tank so they can pull them out when needed. It might have meant slightly more risk to themselves, but if the tank dies you've pretty much lost the teamfight anyway, so it's worth moving into range when they're critical/in imminent danger. Watching them stand there doing nothing while their Rein/Mauga was about to die was painful. Honestly, I think they might have been more useful to their team as a healbotting Mercy, at least then they'd have the option to rez. Hopefully they drop the ego and continue to improve.
As a high plat low diamond mercy, lifeweaver, watching him play really hurt, it hurts watching him spam his heals, like is that type of healing more efficient than charging? He doesn't put pedals, and his trees don't seem like impacts too much. A lot of his pulls are like 2 meters away when he can save someone else who's a lot further
Honestly, I'm not much if a LW user, but when I do, I tend to forget about the Petal and when I do remember it, I'm always panicing and struggling where to put it.
Use it to get better LOS on your teammates, give yourself or your team high ground, block stairways, use it to lift tree, etc. there’s lots you can do with it :) don’t be scared to test out some placements
Lower heals per second than charging, even before accounting for needing to reload more often. It's really bad unless your target is too low to wait for a full charge.
It's always been good when you need heals NOW rather than optimized healing per second. There were multiple times where him spamming heals saved his teammates, though he could have charged it like a quarter of a second longer some of those times.
Interesting thing with the petal, you can break it by hitting the ability again. This works after you are killed too. I like to drop it if the enemy team is trying to benefit from it.
This person seems like they must have been boosted to Masters to me, or perhaps they are much better on other heroes while they don't understand Lifeweaver's strengths. Like there are times like 5:15 where they are out of LoS of their tank, and a simple petal would lift them up to see them and heal or pull them out much quicker, or maybe at 5:47 they could perhaps pull the Ana up to the balcony to the safety of the team, or give the Ana a petal (as Tracer was attacking them), because Tracer's biggest weakness is verticality and either of these things would massively waste the Tracer's time and ensure Ana's survival (if this Tracer was not a plat Tracer, the Ana would be in real trouble IMO.) Things like that they just don't seem to think of seem to indicate that the value of being on Lifeweaver is lost on them, and they thus don't belong in Masters for sure. In that Ana example, Ana has to use her biotic grenade and sleep dart to save herself from Tracer, whereas if Ana was raised up or pulled out by LW, she could instead use the nade on the enemy Hazard and purple them etc. Now Ana should be in the backline so there's a downside to pulling her into the fight, but if there is a Tracer in your backline and Ana is isolated away from the team, then that backline position then becomes one of the worst place for the Ana to be IMO. I probably would have in the moment pulled the Ana up to the balcony just smelling the danger to my fellow Support, although if I had more time to think about it, a petal would be the right play there for the Ana since it has almost the same effect, but without wasting your Grip cooldown. With all that said, I am no expert just giving my opinion. This is just looking at one tiny moment in the game though, there are more important things (like when attacking the point at 9:56 , why not put a petal on the right side of the Zebra Crossing behind the firetruck so you have height advantage, can see the point and drop down if you come under fire, and can also barrage the doorway with needles when the enemy tries to enter since LW's primary fire is great against chokepoints.) Lifeweaver has ranged, easy heals so keeping everyone within his vision, within LoS is the ultimate goal. And if ever there is a moment where putting a Petal down increases vision, you should do it. 11:23, you know the Mauga will keep LoS blocking you by running in front of that little barricade in front of the station, so that's a perfect time to use a Petal to lift yourself up so you can see over that LoS blocker and keep your Mauga healed while he does his thing. Instead, a lot of healing time winds up being wasted and then LW has to use his Tree and Grip cooldown to catch up and ensure Mauga stays alive.
Petal cooldown is the same as usage timer. So once it breaks because of timer you can use it again right away. So can be on a petal all the time technically. Dk about destroying it though, they almost never happens

This has been an issue unchecked in the overwatch community since it's inception. Healer mains literally think they deserve high ranks but constantly rely on their teammates to win them games instead of searching for ways to enable their teammates to make plays outside healbotting
First petal was used literally 3 minutes into the match… keep working up. Your petal is literally your best escape in your kit and can be used to reach teammates out of reach. You’re where you’re supposed to be and that’s ok. Keep grinding though❤️

She has a 30m healing range, 10m over Lucio, plus a burst heal from armor packs that can stack once (1 pack burst heals 50) with inspire proc on inspire lasts for 6 seconds, maybe 5. Learn the intricacies of your healer. You’ll climb.
Something is weird for this VOD. This is Plat? Few of them are playing so slow, and this LW is playing like they're sipping on whiskey and smoking a joint. I'm almost plat and 90% of matches are twitchy and sweaty. I'm a LW main and I'm repositioning every 5 seconds and my pull and petal is always on CD. Positioning sense you get in silver.

As a bronze support (i rarely play ranked and they thought it would be fun to put me in bronze after winning 6 or 7 (idk exactly) out of my placement matches and i lose double the points i would win) i can confidently say that he does not deserve to be a higher rank... every plat support ik is better... by a lot. His utilities were not even used most of the time... positioning was upper silver to low gold... and he could've healed a lot more... like a lot. Overall compared to my playstyle i wouldve guessed he is silver... no offense but it was not that good. Lw is not that hard since you dont even need to aim for heals ( i am lw player myself) and just his decisions hurt my eyes...
Not to be mean but this guy plays like he is in low gold.. I play a lot of Life Gripper. And that pedal is always out it gives such a beautiful line of site and you can pull teammates to the platform if they are low. His average actions are so low for being in plat. However I noticed this is console so maybe it’s different.
Love the vids, as someone who loves lifeweaver, I just wanted to say if that guy thinks he is masters then I am top 500 and I'm definitely not top 500 haha. I agree with your advice on petal but I would more generalise that to all his ability usage. Like they could improve a lot more on mobility and positioning for themselves and their team. Lifeweaver is a great character to build up a map and battlefield awareness. I would guess that person was new to the hero from the levels of awareness of both presented in the video. I don't know what the video is meant to showcase in their mind; he was a little lackluster to be complaining about teammates that weren't even in the game. The irony of complaining about plat players when you are one and didn't really show anything to prove he isn't.
I’ve noticed that a lot of healers just don’t do damage really. There’s so many opportunities where the life weaver can get in even a little damage before needing to heal anyone. Not saying it’s necessary for healers but I kinda feel like it’s a waste of your abilities if you go into a game and don’t use everything you have at your disposal because of playing safe.
I get mad at my other healer (main support) if I know they've had time to do damage. I yell at myself for this too if we aren't pushing in enough to secure objectives. 😂
You can't complain about rank when you play a hero who has no influence on the outcome of the match, even when played very well. LW has 0 carry potential and incredible ability to throw games, so yeah, if you're the main Lifeweaver and you go down 2 entire divisions, you were the reason you lost and most of the time you already lost on the loading screen. The best you can hope for is to play a lot of matches and consistently be the best person on your team, that's how you rank up with heroes like lw and Mercy.
Tonight was the first time i wanted to quit overwatch. Q times are getting so long and thats always with chance of a leaver or thrower. I love playing this game, more than rivals, but the matchmaking is taking such a hit i am seriously considering moving to rivals permanently

Sometimes I think Lifegrip should have Ana's nano confirmation toggle but I know most Weavers you get wouldn't turn that setting on lol. This player is very reactive, which can be good as Weaver sometimes, but there's none of that sneaky stuff you see in higher ranks. Like sneaking past 4 ppl and pulling someone with an AOE ult into their team lmao. Also their pulls are fairly awful and often a waste seeing as they pull some teammates who are full HP *into* danger rather than out of it. Also the next to non-existent use of petal. It's all a learning process but I don't think this person belongs in that rank, not as Weaver anyway. Maybe they're cracked on another support, but they're definitely not good at Weaver.
not even a minute in and this lw is nowhere NEAR masters. no petal, doesn't use blossoms until fully charged, terrible positioning and rotation out... about the only GOOD thing they did in the first teamfight was target priority, until they pulled ana and still let her die to hazard's wall. imma be honest, this isn't even plat gameplay; unless they really pick things up through the rest of the match, this is silver gameplay at BEST. edit: end of second round, my initial assessment hasn't changed much; they use some petals, but not nearly enough. it still doesn't feel like plat gameplay, but i could believe maybe high gold. honestly, their mauga/ana carried second round start to finish so idk what they were complaining about. edit 2: was this their warm-up game or something? bc yes there was improvement through the match, but my gawd it was painful to watch... check your ego, dude; you're in plat for a reason.

I’m gold 5 and a LW main.. I would walk circles around this guy lol he’s silver at best. Not using petal for his ash as an elevator. Every pull was within arms reach and had 0 value. Horrible tree timing.. LW has no falloff dmg, poke tf out of em at distance! Character with awesome mobility and he’s always on the ground with terrible positioning.

Emongg's talk about making plays resonated so much with me because I've been trying to get Bap's cute spray achievement again recently. Naturally, I play the hero as safe as possible to avoid dying, and I so often notice how I have to go against my natural instinct of going in and making a play that could have won a fight but also risked me dying (this is all in qp before someone accuses me of throwing people's ranked matches). Not dying is nice, but you really have to take the risk at times if winning is your priority.
What I find confusing is if he doesn't see someone to heal, he just does nothing instead of shooting at enemies, though he did seem to figure it out later in the game.

Man, every LW player I seen in this series doesn't utilize petal proactively and at 13:30 is when I had to type this. Blizzard even made the adjustment of timing with the usage of the petal and planting one down to get people to use it more often. He could have continued pushing the cart but launch a petal forward to have Pharah continue to be in the air without using their fuel for a little while. This definitely doesn't show this is their main hero used to climb.

im plat 2 and this person is way worse than the people i usually see tbh. most supports in my rank(from my experience) know not to healbot 96% of the time but this guy doesnt know. 🤷

Thsi looks like when I was just learning LW when I had like 30hours on the game overall and even as gold player I can tell you I saw more activity form my rank lw.
@scath_mac_tire2735 oh yeah they weren't optimizing the heals at all. The rapid spamming was sorta driving me crazy. Also, I don't remember then pre-charging any heals. If I'm not healing or doing damage, I'm holding onto a full charge in anticipation of one of my DPS taking a lot of damage.

It makes sense why you lose rank for leavers. Otherwise people would team to boost an account and one member would leave losing games.
Im tempted to agree with the leaving point. I know people could take advantage, but losing SR because of someone with a poor mental game is frustrating.
Or even just bad connection. I've lost games where we were crushing the other team only for one of my teammates to, presumably, disconnect and we end up losing a game we we well on our way to winning.

True but that doesn't happen enough to be relevant to climbing ranks. Even if it did, that applies to both teams as well so his rank is still what he deserves. Not their teammates' fault if this groundweaver can't play as good as masters like he did in the past.
I kinda agree on the fact that one match lost due to a leaver also punishing your SR is dumb. But those are rare cases on every rank, it's not the norm. I don't know if there's a way to program around it and I don't have experience with other games to understand if this is something that can't be avoided.
But blaming leavers, throwers and everything else as the reason you're in your rank is the stupid part. Yes, you get those kind of people. But you also get people high above your own skill level in your team too. You also get people leaving on the enemy team. The enemy team will also get throwers.
At some point if you want to climb up the ranks you have to start thinking that the only thing in common in your games is yourself (and/or your duo/group). When you realize that you're in the same rank as all those people and that you're there for a reason, then you'll see how to climb out.
I used to be bronze for about three seasons when i started in comp (i played a lot of QP) and I was convinced my QP experiencie should've been enought to put me at least on plat. Turns out when I started working in my own mistakes i started climbing.
Yes, you're gonna have bad luck in some games where you get those kind of people. But believe me, you aren't gonna drop from Masters to Plat just because of those people. You're gonna lose ranks because maybe you were boosted by good rng in matchmaking. Maybe you were having a good series of games/seasons.
At some point, if you belong in a rank, you're gonna be in it for a while.

When the latter happens, it's very disheartening watching all your SR just leech away in games you lost due to no fault of your own.

The heal charges in the background. But also! You can charge the heal and right click into needles to store the full charge heal. They deal less damage if they're dead. Shoot first heal after.
Petal is free highground, a sheild, super jump, a foil, and even good bait (if you watch and cancel it)
40-50 shots reloads your healing and about 3 fully charged heals reloads your weapon, i feel like this brings a lot of extra value in team fights and builds your ult super quick. great tip to learn on lw
They seemed like a gold/plat lvl player to me. Especially considering the fact they didn’t seem to understand how incredibly hard their Mauga dominated and carried that game along with the Ana who kept him up. This LW barely had to play the game. He pushed cart and he held down an auto aim button… trees were okayish, very few good petals, very few good pulls, let teammates die from lack of using petal to hold good angles. This guy didn’t used to be masters, he got to masters once before the rank reset which really means he got to diamond at one point but is currently in plat which seems about the correct skill lvl.
Plays like silver, gets ranked as plat 2, thinks it belongs in Masters.

Setting the petal pre-fight also free's up the NEXT petal for whatever ult you are defending against. EG: that last Orisa ult, they didn't have a petal for because they'd just put it down

Okay, I'm 11 minutes in and I will say this is not a plat LW. Plat LW will make dumb decisions, but at least anyone who gets to plat on support without being boosted will try and make plays. I have just seen this LW spam "group up" to his Mauga while he's on cart. A plat LW would either dash to heal/pull the Mauga. Maybe both.
I've seen this behaviour in low gold/high silver lobbies where supports go directly into cart and they stay there trying to move the objective without any other thought.
So I think he has a lot to learn before actually deserving to be plat. I would say mechanics are the only thing keeping him in plat... but most of his hero pool doesn't even take a lot of mechanical skill.
chat is crazy about the petal. petal CD starts when you throw it... that's it, that's all. when the ability is ready again you can throw another one. doesnt matter if it's been damaged or destroyed or self-destructed or anything like that. the duration on the life of the petal drains when the petal is elevated, and pauses when it's on the ground.
Simple change for this player: there should almost always be a petal down somewhere that's useful to the lifeweaver (for easy healing line of sight, pulls and tree placement) or teammates (to reach high ground). If the first petal is placed early in a relatively safe spot, the cooldown really isn't that long and another one be ready for big utility plays or as a secondary escape. Basically lifeweaver gets 2 charges of petal with this method. Just make sure to break a platform when it may benefit the other team.
The strengths of Lifeweaver (and what makes him fun tbh) are his pulls and his petals, and this person ain't getting enough value from either. People have said it already, but putting down a petal preemptively is a great idea cos it leaves you or a teammate with an escape or repositioning tool, and after using it you can immediately throw another petal if you want to cos the cooldown will have reset in the meantime. By not doing that, you're denying yourself the chance to use the ability twice.
As for the pulls... it's good if you anticipate the need to use it to be positioned away from your team rather than bunched up with them, so you can pull someone somewhere safe. On first point defense they could have used a petal to get highground and pull the Ana up there. And if it was a pre-placed petal, they could have dropped down if someone jumped up there, then immediately used another petal, buying time. I also notice times they're hanging back, rather than moving into range of their tank so they can pull them out when needed. It might have meant slightly more risk to themselves, but if the tank dies you've pretty much lost the teamfight anyway, so it's worth moving into range when they're critical/in imminent danger. Watching them stand there doing nothing while their Rein/Mauga was about to die was painful.
Honestly, I think they might have been more useful to their team as a healbotting Mercy, at least then they'd have the option to rez. Hopefully they drop the ego and continue to improve.

As a high plat low diamond mercy, lifeweaver, watching him play really hurt, it hurts watching him spam his heals, like is that type of healing more efficient than charging? He doesn't put pedals, and his trees don't seem like impacts too much. A lot of his pulls are like 2 meters away when he can save someone else who's a lot further
Honestly, I'm not much if a LW user, but when I do, I tend to forget about the Petal and when I do remember it, I'm always panicing and struggling where to put it.
Use it to get better LOS on your teammates, give yourself or your team high ground, block stairways, use it to lift tree, etc.

Best when an ally is really low and you expect incoming/constant damage so they dont die while its charging… but otherwise, just charge the heals!
Lower heals per second than charging, even before accounting for needing to reload more often. It's really bad unless your target is too low to wait for a full charge.
It's always been good when you need heals NOW rather than optimized healing per second. There were multiple times where him spamming heals saved his teammates, though he could have charged it like a quarter of a second longer some of those times.
Interesting thing with the petal, you can break it by hitting the ability again. This works after you are killed too. I like to drop it if the enemy team is trying to benefit from it.
This person seems like they must have been boosted to Masters to me, or perhaps they are much better on other heroes while they don't understand Lifeweaver's strengths. Like there are times like 5:15 where they are out of LoS of their tank, and a simple petal would lift them up to see them and heal or pull them out much quicker, or maybe at 5:47 they could perhaps pull the Ana up to the balcony to the safety of the team, or give the Ana a petal (as Tracer was attacking them), because Tracer's biggest weakness is verticality and either of these things would massively waste the Tracer's time and ensure Ana's survival (if this Tracer was not a plat Tracer, the Ana would be in real trouble IMO.) Things like that they just don't seem to think of seem to indicate that the value of being on Lifeweaver is lost on them, and they thus don't belong in Masters for sure. In that Ana example, Ana has to use her biotic grenade and sleep dart to save herself from Tracer, whereas if Ana was raised up or pulled out by LW, she could instead use the nade on the enemy Hazard and purple them etc. Now Ana should be in the backline so there's a downside to pulling her into the fight, but if there is a Tracer in your backline and Ana is isolated away from the team, then that backline position then becomes one of the worst place for the Ana to be IMO. I probably would have in the moment pulled the Ana up to the balcony just smelling the danger to my fellow Support, although if I had more time to think about it, a petal would be the right play there for the Ana since it has almost the same effect, but without wasting your Grip cooldown. With all that said, I am no expert just giving my opinion. This is just looking at one tiny moment in the game though, there are more important things (like when attacking the point at 9:56 , why not put a petal on the right side of the Zebra Crossing behind the firetruck so you have height advantage, can see the point and drop down if you come under fire, and can also barrage the doorway with needles when the enemy tries to enter since LW's primary fire is great against chokepoints.) Lifeweaver has ranged, easy heals so keeping everyone within his vision, within LoS is the ultimate goal. And if ever there is a moment where putting a Petal down increases vision, you should do it. 11:23, you know the Mauga will keep LoS blocking you by running in front of that little barricade in front of the station, so that's a perfect time to use a Petal to lift yourself up so you can see over that LoS blocker and keep your Mauga healed while he does his thing. Instead, a lot of healing time winds up being wasted and then LW has to use his Tree and Grip cooldown to catch up and ensure Mauga stays alive.

Like me with Brig, I realized she’s a huge sleeper to a lot of people. She has a 30m healing range, 10m over Lucio, plus a burst heal from armor packs that can stack once (1 pack burst heals 50) with inspire proc on inspire lasts for 6 seconds, maybe 5. Learn the intricacies of your healer. You’ll climb.
A good Lifeweaver never reloads, you can heal then when low do damage and when youre low on that... heal, it will reset your ammo. Rinse & repeat.
Something is weird for this VOD. This is Plat? Few of them are playing so slow, and this LW is playing like they're sipping on whiskey and smoking a joint. I'm almost plat and 90% of matches are twitchy and sweaty. I'm a LW main and I'm repositioning every 5 seconds and my pull and petal is always on CD. Positioning sense you get in silver.

As a bronze support (i rarely play ranked and they thought it would be fun to put me in bronze after winning 6 or 7 (idk exactly) out of my placement matches and i lose double the points i would win) i can confidently say that he does not deserve to be a higher rank... every plat support ik is better... by a lot. His utilities were not even used most of the time... positioning was upper silver to low gold... and he could've healed a lot more... like a lot. Overall compared to my playstyle i wouldve guessed he is silver... no offense but it was not that good. Lw is not that hard since you dont even need to aim for heals ( i am lw player myself) and just his decisions hurt my eyes...
Not to be mean but this guy plays like he is in low gold.. I play a lot of Life Gripper. And that pedal is always out it gives such a beautiful line of site and you can pull teammates to the platform if they are low. His average actions are so low for being in plat. However I noticed this is console so maybe it’s different.
Love the vids, as someone who loves lifeweaver, I just wanted to say if that guy thinks he is masters then I am top 500 and I'm definitely not top 500 haha. I agree with your advice on petal but I would more generalise that to all his ability usage. Like they could improve a lot more on mobility and positioning for themselves and their team. Lifeweaver is a great character to build up a map and battlefield awareness. I would guess that person was new to the hero from the levels of awareness of both presented in the video. I don't know what the video is meant to showcase in their mind; he was a little lackluster to be complaining about teammates that weren't even in the game. The irony of complaining about plat players when you are one and didn't really show anything to prove he isn't.
I’ve noticed that a lot of healers just don’t do damage really. There’s so many opportunities where the life weaver can get in even a little damage before needing to heal anyone. Not saying it’s necessary for healers but I kinda feel like it’s a waste of your abilities if you go into a game and don’t use everything you have at your disposal because of playing safe.
I get mad at my other healer (main support) if I know they've had time to do damage. I yell at myself for this too if we aren't pushing in enough to secure objectives. 😂
You can't complain about rank when you play a hero who has no influence on the outcome of the match, even when played very well. LW has 0 carry potential and incredible ability to throw games, so yeah, if you're the main Lifeweaver and you go down 2 entire divisions, you were the reason you lost and most of the time you already lost on the loading screen. The best you can hope for is to play a lot of matches and consistently be the best person on your team, that's how you rank up with heroes like lw and Mercy.
Tonight was the first time i wanted to quit overwatch. Q times are getting so long and thats always with chance of a leaver or thrower. I love playing this game, more than rivals, but the matchmaking is taking such a hit i am seriously considering moving to rivals permanently

This player is very reactive, which can be good as Weaver sometimes, but there's none of that sneaky stuff you see in higher ranks. Like sneaking past 4 ppl and pulling someone with an AOE ult into their team lmao. Also their pulls are fairly awful and often a waste seeing as they pull some teammates who are full HP *into* danger rather than out of it. Also the next to non-existent use of petal. It's all a learning process but I don't think this person belongs in that rank, not as Weaver anyway. Maybe they're cracked on another support, but they're definitely not good at Weaver.

not even a minute in and this lw is nowhere NEAR masters. no petal, doesn't use blossoms until fully charged, terrible positioning and rotation out... about the only GOOD thing they did in the first teamfight was target priority, until they pulled ana and still let her die to hazard's wall.
imma be honest, this isn't even plat gameplay; unless they really pick things up through the rest of the match, this is silver gameplay at BEST.
edit: end of second round, my initial assessment hasn't changed much; they use some petals, but not nearly enough. it still doesn't feel like plat gameplay, but i could believe maybe high gold. honestly, their mauga/ana carried second round start to finish so idk what they were complaining about.
