    When I saw the US in my Millenium Dawn game go 25000b in debt, I believed that the mod was too complicated even for it's own AI...

    When it comes to debt I’d recommend paying it off as often as possible and try to get it near zero. If you actually manage to get it paid off you won’t have to worry about a debt crisis during WW3 which is the last thing you need in the late game when division costs are through the moon. Bonus points are earned for this in the late game when major powers keep exploding into civil wars because the AI is still pretty bad at economy even if super powers rarely self destruct anymore.

    Id love to see critical infrastructure and resources in Millenium Dawn - like food, gas/oil with pipelines needed for efficient civilian and military factories. That would get the game one level higher in terms of realism!

    • @H3rraM4juri
      @H3rraM4juri ปีที่แล้ว +14

      @@H3rraM4juri maybe - or maybe not. Railways and supply are currently the best thing that could happen to warfare in hoi iv in my opinion. I believe that better reflected resource transport and trade would make the same for economy and powerplay.
      The other thing i would love seeing is being able to force your options in peace conference if you are major power/superpower even if you didn't fight directly. That should be accompanied by military power having it's share in war contribution. As a superpower it should be possible to shape world without being engaged directly!

      The current mod is great, I love the idea, and I admire the work put into this. It's complicated but with videos like these one can grab basics and have fun :)
      But for me skipping these (and to a lesser extent straits - control of it should generate political power and GDP at least) causes a high loss in ralism. Currently one fights not only for resources but to control trade routes. The lack of these completely transforms powerplay and strategy... If Millennium Dawn wants to simulate the current political landscape (and I thought it does) it requires at least 3 more features:
      - food and commodities
      - pipelines/transport routes (straits included)
      - peace conference rebalanced :)

    While in the majority of cases it is true for the trade laws I find it more worthwhile to use global trade early on as Canada because of the fact they have a huge surplus of resources and them being in Nato means it is easier to export to big consumers. It is especially good to give that early cash boost when combined with the oil focuses

    With the new economic/electricity update a new use for investment loop appeared:
    Investing into fossil fuel powerplants in countries that don't have domestic fuel production as oil state. It massively boosts global demand for oil even if at first they start to buy from random places like Russia or Saudi Arabia, they eventually get to you. Selling almost all of your market oil feels like a power trip. Basically you're copying the idea and spirit of Belt&Road investments.
    And of course there are the usual - invest in ally, invest in future core, invest in future puppet, invest to boost diplomatic relations, invest in infrastructure in states that produce rare Earth elements to increase their amounts on the market, invest in dockyards to bankrupt your opposition by filling their building slots with weakest building.

    Do you know what other factors influence GDP? If we go by the numbers provided, assuming you aren't a rural microstate with one office complex taking your one building slot and thus have a gdp per capita through the roof, the highest you can get gdp per capita through buildings seems to be 48k with the numbers provided through 3 office complexes per state with each state barely having 300k population. Is trade added to GDP?

    • @sneedchuckington
      @sneedchuckington ปีที่แล้ว +1

      GDP is based on your factories (civs, mils, dockyards, offices).
      If you are getting civs through trade this are included in the calculation. See: Russia at game start whose civs will almost all come from oil exports.

    Honestly, this economy thing feels off. Because if we're talking about MD here, it should account for different things and repurpose some economic actions, such as civs, why do civs divert to tax costs? Why can't the office parks do that? Another reason is trade, why do civs go to other nations when you want to trade? Makes no sense, because the Cold War mod already made a better version and that is you don't pay with civs but actual money, also there's no civilian consumption in MD but in cold war, there is [Consumption Economy spirit] also the economic synergy between nations is lacking, in MD4 the global economy was very interconnected like irl (i suppose that's cuz resources were limited and oil was still used to make ships and tanks, making oil exporting countries like Russia and Saudi Arabia very, VERY broken in terms of civ amount) while here it feels isolationist. I feel it's only right to expand on the economics of MD to include all available forms of irl modern day economy matters, because it still feels like it's VERY heavily focused on the military and expansion.
    Another point (this is more of my favourite) is the ability to cut resource production, now you may ask why? Because it can increase the price of those certain resources like irl, if you were playing Saudi Arabia for instance and you GREATLY cut your oil production (with a cap of 10%) it should make the oil prices soar and make u a LOT of revenue (ofc it should be counterbalanced by either demands from other nations for you to increase your oil production or for other oil rich nations to increase their production)
