I enjoyed your talk tonight. I’ve started ecoprinting a month or so ago and remain completely involved in such a dynamic process. I also live in PNW on Vancouver Island where Nature surrounds me and gives me so many leaves to play with, especially right now!
This is not a new process. The aborigines have used this method for thousands upon thousands. of years. There is a wonderful artist in Australia who has worked with them for many many years and has an amazing collection of work. She teaches the method to others and gives full credit to the people who taught her.
You probably dont give a shit but does any of you know a way to log back into an Instagram account..? I stupidly lost my login password. I would love any tips you can offer me
@Fisher Zavier Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site thru google and im trying it out atm. Takes quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Water with a splash of vinegar, add rusty nails, steel wool anything rusted. Leave it to rust. Experiment, use neat, dip leaves in it, water it down. Don't discard but do be respectful, it is a metal, use outdoors and wear gloves.
There are lots of utubes on this process. You need to mordant your fabric and dip in an iron solution, and use leaves which contain lots of tannin. It’s not a quick process to learn, takes time and colour is imparted to the silk or cotton using a carrier cloth.
Such gorgeous prints!! Thank you for showing us this technique!
I’m fascinated by this process! Thank you so much for sharing!
