- Jennifer Johnson of Plant Spirit Fibers uses seasonal plants growing on her homestead in Brookfield, Vermont to create these eco-printed silk scarves and other garments. She then dyes them with plant dyes harvested from her land. She and her husband grow their own indigo plants and create their own dye, unusual for her region.

Thank you for watching!
Thank you so so much for not adding background music. It is such a joy to hear the sound of silence and to hear only the natural sounds of people moving around and the soft sounds of nature, the grasshopper, etc. Well done! Groet from Amsterdam
I completely agree ORIGINAL IS REAL
@@mildlywildfamilygemz1757 Yes, so true!
True!!!
Very interesting way of printing on fabric, thank you for the inspiration.
Waaw wonderful idea thanx fr sharining.. Very nice one.. I like toooooo❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Beautiful 💛
Аж чувствую, как травы пахнут!!!!!!!!
Very beautiful! I was intrigued by the lighter prints on darker background, like how is that possible?
I don’t know but you are right that is part of why it was so breathtaking when she revealed the results! I wonder if it is because the pigment in the flowers is so powerful.
Hi I enjoyed watching your video and found it fascinating. Did you use grease proof paper? Thank you for sharing your wonderful skill s
So very beautiful!
Wonderful, congratulations ... and how is the result, can you wash the cloth?
Fantstic my new frienf.🤝👌👌

Kadının gösterirkenki mutluluğu 🥺😍
Wow
Es hermoso, ojalá lo pudiéramos tener en español
Muy pocas palabras habladas, ¡pero tal vez pueda hacerlo con el traductor de Google! :)
Al final dice "este puede volver a entrar" por más azul.
Hermoso!🌿🍂🍁
C'est magnifique ! Merci
Parabéns muito lindo 👏💕
¡gracias!
Lovely
beautiful result but didn't really learn from it, a little explanation on the process would be helpful.
Hi Jenny, I definitely hear you, lol. The funny thing is that I made this only to be a preview of my documentary about this person and her lifestyle, not as a tutorial. It’s wonderful that so many people who are interested in learning this craft have found this video, and I regret that I cannot help in the how-to department. Luckily I think there are many other great tutorials on TH-cam. If you find an excellent one that answers the questions left from this one, will you post it? That will help redirect people who are looking to learn the techniques and I might even put it in the description. Thank you very much for watching!
utilizas algo para fijar los colores ? Luego de lavar la tela no se destiñen? la colocas en un recipiente con vapor?
before you put the flower, did you just wet the fabric using water?
I am just the filmmaker, but I am pretty sure it was just water.
Yes though the fabric was mordanted in alum and iron
Girl. Nice. Excelent. I can do too? I think yes. Beautiful job. Handmade.Good crafts.
Fabulous 👍👍👍👍 magical ❤️
Thank you! Cheers!

That is WOW
So beautiful and inspiring. The fabric has to be dyed before or after ecoprinting on it? Greetings from Italy
Thank you for watching! Jennifer would dye some fabric before printing but it isn’t necessary. She added more dye after in some cases. Divertiti!
It very nice. I went to learn. Please.
Hi, i want to ask you.. how do you mordant the fabric to ecoprint? thank you
Alum and iron mordant
How fix the colour
You have not telling what type of clothes and in which water for how much time send details
Has any chemical been used? Will the color last longer? What can be done with clothes?
in Indonesia we use "Tawas" for color last longer, in english might be potassium alum
I don't believe she uses any chemicals. I think this technique can be used for many different fibers, so probably clothing too. You can visit her website in the description for more information. Thank you for watching!
Which mordant you were used
I'm not sure Jennifer will see this question but if you'd like to contact her, her website is www.plantspiritfibers.com. Thanks for watching!
Alum and iron are used for mordant
Alum and iron for mordant
So, does the print in the cloth remains forever or disappears when washing? Just curious
Forever and ever :)
@@landfoodcraft ah good to know. Thanks !
Beautiful
No. You have to add mordant( before) and fixing (after)… otherwise it will disappear/evanescence…

Magical ❤️
Increíble, fascinante!!!
Is it baking paper? Also when you put it in the barrel . Is it heated? & about how long??Love the ideas & inspirations!

Hi Melony, thanks for watching! Sorry that this is not meant to be an instructional video, just a moment in the life of this artist. I think there are many instructional videos on this technique by other TH-cam creators, thankfully. Good luck!

Hi!! Love the result. What type of paper is the one you are using to roll the fabric with?
I do not know exactly but it seemed very similar to parchment paper. That might be what it was.
