The real answer is freezing decaf in 50 ml tubes as soon as you get it from the roaster. Grind right before use. Decaf can be as good as normal coffee if given a fair chance. It stales faster from the decaffeination process - so freezing and single batch use is the answer.
Also NO need to let the coffee thaw before grinding it. Grinding frozen coffee does produce more fines but it does taste better. The grind distribution doesn't tell you everything. This has been stated on other channels who do deep dives into freezing coffee. Some freeze just for that reason alone, not even to keep it fresh.

Yeah freezing in test tubes is an option that has gained popularity over the past couple of years, I know many people swear by it. My advice on allowing it to thaw is mainly with freezing the full bag, in theory allowing them to thaw while air tight is better than letting them mix with air while thawing. Ta, Kev

I actually bought a magnifica for the reason that it's got a funnel for ground coffee, so I can easily get a coffee but manage my caffeine intake as more than 3 regular coffee s a day makes me feel rough. Really useful video 👍🏻

I drink mainly decaf and can endorse Kev's view that their age now lots of good decafs available, including the coffeeworks option. I appreciated the video, as my challenge is the other way round: Keeping caffeinated coffee beans available for visitors who can't function without cafeíne!

Also check out the Jura Giga 5 or Giga 6; both have two separate grinders. I’ve had my Giga 6 for two years, now, and found it to be a game changer.

Dry out the old pucks from making espresso, break 'em down to powder again and keep it for decaf drinkers. After all, you've already decaffeinated it and they'll be so used to crappy coffee they'll never know the difference.
