  • Growing food in Small spaces or in the ground...as Spring gets closer and food is now very important to grow I give my tips on growing food now and fast. I am preparing to grow more this gardening season than ever before. Lots of Kale, lettuce, squash and zucchini, collard, tree collards, tomatoes, peppers, Swiss chard, Papaya, mint, sage, thyme, all kinds of herbs and so much more. I plant so many vegetable plants in both large containers and even in small pots, like nursery pot and flower pots and floral pots, many pots get layered in my compost in place for Fast growing. To prepare to grow is easy, layer all the garden matter and kitchen waste, like food peelings, egg shells, spoiled foods, rotten food, coffee grinds, even paper, most anything that will work for your garden, all will break down to create perfect soil. This year NO waste, if it can turn into soil, I will layer it into my compost in place containers. NO turning for me, just pile and grow, be it the ground, large tub or plant pot (like a flower pot you get from the nursery), all will work for many types of foods you can grown.

OH MY HEAVENS, my GF just shared your website with me, and I adore you! Thank you for being soooo upbeat, honest and delightful! I've just started growing things 2 months ago from seed. I now have 48 kabocha pumpkin seedlings, 75 plum, cherry, beefsteak tomato seedlings, potatoes, 2 kinds of sweet potatoes, green onions, red onions, yellow onions, celery...what ever end of something we cut off, I'm trying to grow. Never before have I been successful! I live in an area of Hawaii where there is practically no top soil so I have to do containers and I'm going to use all your tips. You came into my life at the perfect time! Thank you, thank you, mahalo nui!!!

ROBIE, love your ideas of adapting all kinds of materials to build your garden, adapt things to work for you, don’t have to thro the old discoloured chairs, just repaint them - use for the pots !

🤩🙏 this was a suggested vid after watching one of your earliest ones. Such great work you were doing, encouraging everyone at the beginning of the pandemic. Beautiful garden even then. Love to hear about all the wildlife. We need those top predators for ecosystems to stay healthy so good the hawks have graced your garden w/ their presence. That’s pretty badass imo! 😊

Hi Robbie, your garden is fantastic! I have a traditional garden in the ground and I’m going to try your method in addition to that. I already found a chair and tub in my backyard. I have clay too and didn’t think about it blocking the holes up so I appreciate the info. I need to separate my celery now. My garden makes me happy with all of the birds and butterflies and bees. There are about three hummingbirds that have started hanging around. Thank you for everything you do and all of the helpful knowledge, Hugs, Julie 🥰

An idea to consider: the curry plant - I had one once, but didn’t use it...could’ve used that space to grow a new variety or something else..
I too Have been rethinking the functionality of my garden for quite sometime - especially since I have limited space ... I like growing novelty items but have to learn that after a season or 2 if they are not good for tea/ medicine/ food...then I’m not getting the best use out of them
I so admire your creativity and repurposed ideas. Thanks for sharing

Robbie, I get so giddy like you when I am able to tidy up my plants like I did today. It's so refreshing to see the plants show their appreciation by looking good.
Oh, by the way, one of my girlfriends found the metal mesh trash cans at an Asian store for me. It's now part of my garden arsenal, thank you.

Read the label on the soups. I was in shock one day, when I decided to start reading labels and found out most soups have MSG in them. I use to buy plain mushroom soup, and found out that it has MSG in it. Then, my girlfriend told me she loves the cremini & shiitakes mushroom soup. To my surprise it did not have MSG in it. Yay! You really have to read labels now a days. Did you know that commercially grown canola, wheat, corn,... and some other things are GMO. But, if we buy them, it is not available to the consumer, so the seeds to grow our own produce is non-GMO. So definitely grow your own garden of everything you love, it pays off in the end! Thanks for your inspiration. Love your videos. Keep up the great job you both are doing!

Need to wait til they are really ripe for them to turn sweet otherwise they taste like a raw potato - they are usually picked unripe in the store - try waiting a few weeks - the scales sd turn brown

Hi Robbie and Gary your garden looks great. This is Pat from Chicago too cold to start a garden right now. I planted some bell peppers and hot pepper seeds in the house and they are doing well. I want to get some green lettuce and tomatoe seeds but we have a stay in your home ordinance if you are caught out the police will ticket you or you could go to jail. My niece does nott want to take me to the store because of my age so I just hope I can get some seeds and plants to start my garden. Love all of your videos. Be safe and take care.
