Works like charm mate, thanks for sharing this (I think the only change I did was h264 rather than QuickTime). Darn it Tony, now I have to go sell my Z7 II and switch to an R5! Tired of carrying around a Ninja V with a camera cage only to be able to record 4K in Log. Thanks again for following up with my questions and comments. Subbed!
Haha! Youd love it. Glad I could help ha! Yea the h264 is a good way to go as well. The proxy process is really easy these days. Premiere makes it a breeze.
Hi Tony thanks for this info it was super helpfull. Can i ask what are the specs of your imac for editing and have you had any problems when editing? Cheers George
Hi there, i have a 2017 iMac spec’d out. But… i dont really have any trouble even though is a 4 year old quad core. I do have to make proxies though because it doesn’t have the hardware for h265 footage. Once again though, it works really well and I can edit pretty much anything I need to. I will probably upgrade though once the next big iMacs are released with the M chips
Hey there! You can, I typically will do an 80-90% grade but then toggle off the proxies throughout the video to finalize the grade. Usually works out well for me.
This is honestly the craziest thing.. I have been on the phone with Apple and Adobe for 3 weeks and this was the solution. Bravo.
Awesome. Glad I could help’!
Useful info the new H.265 codec good and concise.
👍🏼

Thank you! Just got the R6 today
Awesome! Hope you’re enjoying the R6! It’s a great camera!!
Love it and you knew I was commenting on this one. Haha. Also the new mac M1 I’m wanting to know if they can edit the r5 10bit files without proxies.
TOTALLY agree with you! I have a few friends that ordered them, I’m going to see what they’re conclusion is.

Thanks Tony super info!
Hey Tony! Can you color grade and use luts with your proxies or do you have to switch back and forth between the original files to do it?

Imagine needing to make proxies 😂😂😂
Haha I don’t mind it too much but for my quick and dirty projects might as well pump them out on the iPad 😎
