Hutch, try using, what we call Molex crimpers for the pins being crimped. We use them to crimp the style pin your crimping. They have special crimp jaws that fold over the large wings. The large wings once crimped, fold over the insulation, holding it, then it crimps the remaining part, folding it around the wire. Been using Molex crimpers for the 30 years in aviation Avionics. Hope this information helps.

Absolutely awesome video series! Stumbled across this accidentally and couldn’t be more impressed! Great wealth of information, excellent job!
Questions: I am also using the same ratchet crimper and noticed that after crimping a connector, the portion that squeezes onto the wire insulation is slightly loose, do you notice this with your tool?
Also, have you adjusted the crimpers clamping force by removing the screw and rotating the cam?

Thank you! I appreciate the kind words.

when soldering those connectors on, you make the joint more brittle . its like if you bend solid wire back and forth it will break easy, but if you bend a stranded wire back and forth it takes a lot to break it.

That could be true if the entirety of the connector weren't captured inside a rigid block, or if there wasn't a secondary crimp below it holding the wire and casing together...but there is...so the point is moot.

Are you gonna clean the connector ?mines has a lot of dirty grease just wondering how can I remove all the dirty grease off and thanks for your video I’m following ur lead,✌🏼

I'm actually leaving all the grease packed in there alone. It's sealing all the empty ports, so I figure leave it. I have heard of soaking the connector in gasoline for a day, but not sure if it's good for the plastic.
