I was 15 when this Hurricane come thru my hometown of Fort Pierce, Fl. I went and stayed at my best friend's house off Jenkins Rd/near Orange ave in West Fort Pierce with her and her family and a few other random adults and kids. Waiting for it to come in we had a huge hurricane party (cooking out on the grill, bunch of drunk adults acting stupid, typical florida hurricane party stuff) which was a lot of fun. Then the hurricane started moving thru and shit got real, REAL FAST. Us kids were going outside during the 1st eyewall to experience the wind. Since it was night time it was crazy to see all those creep, but almost beautiful, bright blue-green power flashes going off all around us from super close to far away just everywhere. Then seeing the outline of the Australian Pines a couple streets over just swaying all the way over in the creepy loudly howling winds, it was intense! The eye finally moved over and everything was very calm. Going outside we could see the moon and even stars. Other than other neighbors coming out with flashlights to check around their homes it was such a eerie quiet, that you never forget. Then BOOM the back eyewall starts coming thru and all hell breaks lose again. About 15 mins before the back wall came thru i laid down on the couch to TRY and get a little sleep (it was like 3am or so by then) and i had JUST fell asleep when all a sudden we all hear "BOOOOM" against the back of the house! Right as the back eye wall moved in a huge section of their wooden fence ripped off and sailed hard right in to the back of the house. I literally FELL off the couch cause it scared me and made me jump. Everyone was laughing at me lol. I didn't get a wink more sleep the rest of the storm lol. I still live in Fort Pierce. I also went thru Wilma in 2005 staying with a friend in Port St.Lucie. However i missed out on Francis cause i went with my grandma to evacuate up to the Ocala area. Recently i did go thru Matthew, Irma and Ian. Stayed in west fort pierce for Matthew & Irma at my friend's house/barn where i board my horse to help take care of my and the other horses there during the storms. For Ian i stayed in my own home in fort pierce. And while Wilma was pretty bad none of them compared to Hurricane Jeanne! That was a beast of a storm.
Incredible footage. I live in Sebring, FLA and this was by far our worst hurricane of the 4 that hit in 2004. I'll never forget the power line coming loose and sparking around outside - we were hoping nothing caught fire from it. The blue transformer flashes were non-stop, and the sound of pine trees creaking under the force of the wind was eerie. An experience you just can't grasp unless you lived through it yourself.
Absolutely AWESOME, Mike!!! I was also in Port St. Lucie during Jeanne but, at my location, the power was totally out long before the strongest winds arrived... making it really hard to shoot video. It looks like you got some decent wind while the power was still on! I also remember getting there the afternoon before landfall and commenting on how all the trees still looked totally battreed from Frances a few weeks before.
1:02 the sound of that wind howl! I was in Florida through this and many other hurricanes and I've never heard that before. Of course, I wasn't outside during any other than Wilma. That's a story in it's own right.
The eye of Jeanne went right over my house. We went out in it and it was calm for about an hour then the back end came through. It was a rough night. Now watching Irma and I pray for the keys and Miami but they don't know where its going to turn yet.
A lot of them got ripped open a few weeks prior during Frances, the ones that didn't were just lucky engineering. We all had blue roofs that year no matter where we lived
Born & raised near Stuart. Remember all these storms all too well. Hunkered down in the safe room waiting for it to pass, not knowing what would be left when you walked out. Very scary!!
Wow, Mike, you've got some nice video. I love the combo of wind roar and blowing rain plus eye. Great catch. You even got the power getting cut off. Just the sound of the wind should be marketable.
I'm from Ireland and was in Florida when this happened. It was some experience. It was my birthday too. I remember the lift shafts were like roaring dragons. Next day it was business as normal. If it was Ireland, the country would be at a stand still for a long time
0:59, 01:06 - Lightning and lights pulsing. Very scary, I remember when this storm made landfall in Tampa Bay where I lived particularly S. Tampa. There was lots of flood water and the amscot on W. Gandy Blvd. was without power, they had a generator running without the lights on in there. Super intense.
I remember being on holiday during this. Heard a huge crack outside and a palm tree fell parallel to ours and the neighbours house. If it fell on either of ours I doubt we would have made it.
I was on my honymoon in the dominican republic when this passed over, was supposed to leave the day it hit. Killed a load in haiti next door. We were stuck over there for 3 days, and I got food poisoning. Never forget it.
Sara Mcgaha Check their tracks, both came ashore in Stuart.I was in Palm City. Our house suffered fairly serious damage, but we were still able to sell it for a good price
Lived in Stuart Florida off Kanner Highway during that storm. It sure was crazy getting 2 direct landfalls within 3 weeks of each other with Frances and Jeanne. Going through Andrew in South Dade in 92 these storms in 04 were just an inconvenience.
i remember this i was 13 and my family and i went to disney world the day we were supposed to come back the air ports were shut down and we stayed on the 3rd story of the hotel while we waited it out it wasnt really that bad just took a small part of the hotel and i got to miss istep test since i was there lol.

Same lol
I live in Stuart and remember how spooky it was during the eye. Not a sound or light on anywhere. Felt like a horror movie lol
Wow I remember this exact night...roof was very fragile and front door was giving in...rough night
2:34 How did those mobile homes survive Cat 3 winds with very little damage!?
A lot of them got ripped open a few weeks prior during Frances, the ones that didn't were just lucky engineering. We all had blue roofs that year no matter where we lived
I was 13. We had just gotten our power back on 2 weeks prior when Jeanne made the turn right to us. It was fun being out of school but hell otherwise.
Born & raised near Stuart. Remember all these storms all too well. Hunkered down in the safe room waiting for it to pass, not knowing what would be left when you walked out. Very scary!!
Im going to start chasing these storms.
@@markpalavosvrahotes5575 lol. Chasing? They arent like tornadoes😂
@@sha-naynay18 Lots of people do it. I wouldnt be the first.
Both of my home towns. Miss the fishing but don't miss tracking a storm for 7 days.
Don't have to worry about fishing to much thanks to the army corps.
Great views of Indian River Drive!Pretty tore up there between Stuart and Ft Pierce from my recollection.
Wow, Mike, you've got some nice video. I love the combo of wind roar and blowing rain plus eye. Great catch. You even got the power getting cut off. Just the sound of the wind should be marketable.
Amazing capture, very strong winds, nice storm !
Congrastulation for your good job !

Pretty scary footage from inside the building too!

One of the videos showing greater intensity Jeanne. Good location, Mike! :D

Fantastic video! Thanks for uploading.
Excellent video Mike!!
good video mate, nice to watch that as we don't have hurricanes in Poland :)
Great footage, It seems as if hurricane jeanene is one of the least documented hurricanes as far as footage goes
Cool! What was the date of landfall?
September 25, 2004
I remember being on holiday during this. Heard a huge crack outside and a palm tree fell parallel to ours and the neighbours house. If it fell on either of ours I doubt we would have made it.
Incredible video and all the destruction brought tears to my eyes. thanks for sharing this with all of us 5 stars :)
I was on my honymoon in the dominican republic when this passed over, was supposed to leave the day it hit. Killed a load in haiti next door. We were stuck over there for 3 days, and I got food poisoning. Never forget it.
I noticed that 90% of your videos take place in Florida.

You can see my house in this one. I rememver the blue traps everywhere from Francis 3 weeks before this.
Lived in Stuart Florida off Kanner Highway during that storm. It sure was crazy getting 2 direct landfalls within 3 weeks of each other with Frances and Jeanne. Going through Andrew in South Dade in 92 these storms in 04 were just an inconvenience.
I remember getting hit by Jeane and Frances within weeks of eachother. Our house was directly in the eye, pretty scary at 6 years old lol.

i understand Francis also made landfall in this area the same year
Ooh.Awesome!!

I hear movie sounds
My place got destroyed during this storm. Brings back bad memories.
My home roof shingles were torn apart and my yard fences were all broken
I was in FT. Pierce FL when Frances amd Jeanne hit.
I slept through the whole thing
Wait, you slept through a hurricane? Did you wake up without power?
I just went through Hurricane Matthew

Right in between Psl and stuart
Pause!!!! 0:59 It's like early in the morning
It seems like it's morning, but actually it's a power outage sparking.

jeanne is a bad ass

Hurricane Sandy had an even lower pressure: 947 mb
@Brandon Ohara If Sandy was as small as Jeanne it probably would've had Category 4 type winds
its a catacory 3
i ws in this storm

Que demais adorei
Gosto muito de chuvas perigosas
Tornados monstruosos f5
Furacões furiosos adoro
