Thank Heavens dirtpatcheaven spotlighted your channel! This video is exactly what I have been looking for! I've raised meat rabbits but angoras are a whole nother animal :). Thanks for the information!
I absolutely need you as a resource. I have a hybrid French, German and satin angora and two satin angoras. All pedigree. Two of them are huge! Especially my hybrid BB. I love them so much! Please tell me what you mean by grooming them 1- 2 ×'s week? I have been doing a wild edible diet with pellets. They love the fresh greens. Already I have buyers for kits! People want pets . How much do you think I should ask for them and how to do sell their wool to buyers if you dont mind me asking?
+dirtpatcheaven Yes, you do bring up a valid point I forgot about - asthma/allergies. They are a high dander critter and all that wool holds it in until you groom it out.
This answered a few of the questions I had. Thank you for saying some angoras are dual purpose. I really want to try them but need to know if they are worth the time and money investment.
I just found this channel. I spin. What spinning wheel (or hand spindle) do you use for the rabbit fiber? Are you still raising angoras to spin? I'd like to try raising a fiber rabbit, but I know very little about rabbits in general, let alone angoras.
one of my old friends has an angora rabbit and sadly couldn't keep her for moving purposes, and i told her ill take her. im getting her on thurday. but i do not currently know what breed she is, i was wondering if there's a clear way to tell what breed she is, or do i have to guess based on weight? also is it possible to just keep her as a pet rabbit or do i have to keep her as a wool producer rabbit? shes 8 months old btw. ive had many rabbits in the past, just not angoras.
If you go to the American Rabbit Breeders Association website, they have a list of pictures that might be able to help you determine what she might be. Yes, it is possibly to just keep her as a pet. You'd just clip her wool down to what ever length you find is easiest to maintain for you, just like taking a long-haired dog breed to the groomer's. They don't mind if they are kept short, or not.
I have a new website up borderwinds.com. I have changed things around, so my old links might not work at the moment. You can also follow me on Facebook - Borderwinds Farm & Fiber. I'm trying to combine all the pages that where created into one new place. I've been on hiatus for the past year and a half, but looking forward to getting back into the swing of things here soon!

great explanation! we had German giant hybrids...not asthma friendly but I wish they were...so much easier than sheep!

My current website is borderwinds.com. I raise and show French Angoras at the moment.
Are males or females best for wool production?

We enjoyed this video. Do you have Germans now?
Razzle Dazzle Rabbitry & Yarns LLC Thank you! I just have French Angoras right now. I do know a couple people who do have Germans, or German crosses.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I am going to subscribe to your channel. How do I email you or do you have a website please?
