kinda felt like it when he said the new iX looked "sweet". That grill is a very controversial piece right now, even professional car designers and previous BMW Designers criticized it. You're allowed to find it sweet, but don't make the claim "it IS sweet"
If they don't close it down as part of their money saving measures they started last year. The facility was planed before that.
As someone I know said, that worked on projects for BMW: "If it wasn't for their M division you would think they have no money, that's how much they cut corners and safe money."

That's gotta be wrong for sure. Considering the file size of a few seconds of screen capture on a PC for example.
I think it's like 1 GB per camera, and the recording is probably only a few second long rather than the whole test.

I would buy one if they made a quality product and provided good service. Most people I know who used to own one or two don't want another one so it's short term gain for long term loss.

I went to see the BMW production in Munich and I've never seen anything that impressive. It was a gigantic factory hall full of 15 feet tall robots (literally several thousands of these) all working at a time in cages. Mind-blowing what they pulled off this time... Thanks for the cool video!

I’ve been to Porsche R&D for some collab work. Sadly I didn’t get to see this kind of fancy simulators, but they had a really interesting testing site where they use electric engines to simulate any type of motor, including vibrations, cylinder characteristics and anything that wouldn’t even cross your mind.
They use that to test the transmission, breaks and various electronic assistance systems.
And their workshop was the cleanest I’ve ever seen...all tools looked shiny new and there was basically not a single drop of oil or smudge I could see.
In germany we say: "mit dem ding stehst nur in der Werkstatt"
and I think that's beautiful

I think it could be1gb per camera. You although have to consider that one test is only a view seconds long so 1GB seems reasonable.

I think they mean one petabyte of footage. The high speed cameras used in crash tests mostly record with 1000fps in something around fullhd.

Back in the 60s American auto makers did not care about the environment or safty and they had government contracts and built crazy military stuff. I mean this is the same decade that ended with people going to to moon. They use to do like cold war spy airplane on each other to see what their competitor was up too. In the 80s and 90s there as a lot of cool underground car clubs stuff where automakers did stuff on public rods that would not be allowed anymore.
Today cars makers are about making the safest more efficient car in the safest and most high tech way. Not as sexy but it is a better world overall.
