Hi Alex, can you convert an existing 24 word BIP39 wallet to a Shamir backup using a keystone 3 pro wallet? Would you be able to do a video on how to do this if its possible and are there any risks involved?
Just received a Trezor Safe 3. What worries me are the human component and location factor in this. I know they are always a factor and not even required but would make sense in getting the most out of this system. People losing a shard or storage locations becoming inaccessible can really ruin the party. This thing has to be thought through before being put into place. If done correctly this is indeed very safe.
I don’t believe Shamir backup is necessary. Just use a 24 word seed phrase and maybe a passphrase (hidden wallet) if you really want added security. That’ll be plenty secure.
I have also a question about your new multi share option. Well, in case I loose my Trezor or it's somehow damaged and I need to recreate my wallet using a different wallet, but I bought a Ledger or Tangem, which doesn't have multi share, would I loose my wallet and funds?
Hi, thanks for the video!. One question, you said that M etamask doesn't support Shamir. But you can connect Keystone or Trezor with it. I understand that in case of restorage needed, you could restore with Shamir on your Keystone device and then connect with M.m. again, with the M.m. seed word being "irrelevant", since you use your connected hw wallet as confirmation for transfers which is the whole point of this. Did I understand correctly? Thanks in advance!
shamir sounds really complicated to implement. gives me a headache just thinking about it. the more complex something is the greater chance you have of screwing it up. so now the risk of screwing it up and losing your funds could be much greater than the risk of someone stealing your funds. if you give other people your shares you are relying on them not to lose it. why in the world would you do that?
the whole wallet thing just doesn't make full sense to me. Do you want to bury your money in you backyard or do you want to save them in a bank? yeah the bank controls your fund but bank system started because it is not safe to safeguard your gold by yourself. why suddenly all of you think it is the other way around. to put all your crypto in the cold wallet I am worried about losing seed phrase or being kidnapped by criminals who would torture me to get my codes or whatever which is exactly people are worried when they stuff all their gold under their bed...

Hmm I just got the keystone 3 pro & im really thinking on doing Shamir

You’d need to choose a wallet that supports multi share like Keystone
Is shemir backup the same as Trezor multi share? That's a question I've been wondering ever since I heard of Trezors multi share. Thank you.
Very similar, yes
Thanks for the nice clear video my friend! Very clear and concise! New subscriber! 👍
Hey thanks Richard! 🤝
Great video! One quick question; With Shamir, can you still backup your seedphrase with only the first 4 letters of each word?
Well, yeah.. you still need to know the words. But 4 is always sufficient enough to guess the rest in terms of words derived from the BIP39 word list
@@cyberscrillaawesome! Thnx! 😊

That is correct 👍
I have an Electrum wallet. But i cant find out how to use Schamir share with it. I just downloaded even the latest version.
Could u help, please?
I don’t think Electrum supports Shamir backup on its own. You need to use it in conjunction with a wallet like Trezor Safe 3
@@cyberscrilla thank u. I thought it might be that way but wanted to be sure
Good video!!... do you know a cold wallet who storage BTC native and at lightning network?
I would use something like Electrum (it’s a hot wallet) and combine it with a cold wallet like Keystone for extra security.

Can you create a Shamir share with tangem wallet?
No, you can’t.
@@cyberscrilla thank you.

I agree with you.
But for those who are responsible enough to manage multiple chunks of phrases, it’s a good option.

Idk what to tell you. It’s you’re choice, do what you want.
