I never would have tackled this repair without watching your video. Thank you. Took me a half hour after receiving the new hood latch, which I purchased online for $108. The remote start on my 2014 Charger R/T is working again.
Glad to hear it and thanks for the comment ! It’s too cold this season to not have remote start working. :) next I need to fix my heated steering wheel . I think the clock spring is bad . Only the seats work :(
Glad it helped. hopefully it fixes your issue. I find it insane the switch is built in and not serviceable. If the switch was separate I bet it would only be a few bucks!
Happy it’s helpful . You could try cleaning thr switch I might not have mentioned that . It didn’t work for me but with the cost of the switch it’s worth a try . Seems like such a bad design :)
This is what I need. I have a 2014 charger and After I had an electric wire fixed the remote start stopped working. I honestly tried the cheap way and it did not work. I'm just going to buy this and follow your video and do it on my own.
What electrical wire did you have to fix ? Hopefully this is your issue . Not having remote start sucks so fixing it is great . I wish the switch in the latch was replaceable separate but it’s riveted in .
Check out this site. I think it’s called “under hood appearance panel” there is a left and right Side and it’s part number 12 in diagram . parts.allmoparparts.com/v-2014-dodge-charger--r-t--5-7l-v8-gas/frame-bumper-and-fascia--front-bumper-and-fascia
I was unable to find the switch separately and it was riveted on . The new latch will have a new switch/sensor built into it. The actual issue for me was the switch but it’s part of the latch so it was a full swap .
@@Caine459 if it’s the correct latch for the car it should have the switch on it. I believe they make a latch without the sensor for the ones that don’t have remote start. Hopefully you have the right one.
My son's 2018 scat pack had hood latch replaced and a few things from body. Now had hood ajar error. He's brought it back and they said they can't figure it out. New latch, New battery in car and fob. Still nothing
While I dont condone it are you are to try the resistor bypass on the plug? I don't have a video for it but a few other people do if you search for it. I would be curious to see if that helps. I would expect the dealer would have a full wiring diagram to diag the issue as surely it would be a wire, latch/switch, or computer issue.
@JustFixinGarage so I got it fixed. This is what happened. Apparently dodge used the same plugs for the horn and hood switch. So when the body shop fixed everything they had the hood latch plug hooked to one of the horns and one of the horn plugs hooked to the hood switch. So switch those plugs around and all is good.
@JustFixinGarage only 1 horn was working. It was funny afterwards because my son even said I think they changed the horn to a smaller one because it sounds different. But we never thought to check that.
@@toddcoello6461I would have never guessed they shared the same plug. Good find . A very very specific case . I am surprised the dealer didn’t figure it out . I would assume their test include checking resistance at the plug which may have indicated the root cause. Either way glad it’s fixed in time for the cold season :)

My main Mann kev and the big homie Justin.
Glad to see you guys are doing well!
Yeah man living the dream ! Hope your doing good my dude .
I had this issue since may and now I see it’s a easy fix going to be trying once I get in the part in thanks for the video 💪🏼

@@JustFixinGarage I'm honestly not sure but it affected the temperature sensor.. and I didn't notice until the winter..mind you I'm In chicago!
"Kermit fixes his charger" should be the name of this video
Wish I could say you are the first person to call me Kermit.
Whats the red thing called? The red and black plug
What is that cover called to install the latch.? Mines missing

@@JustFixinGarage thanks 🙏🏼
Hey so mine just says hood not closed is this the same thing or different problem?
More than likely it’s the same problem . The latch is the only sensor on this model that tells the car of the hood is open or shut .
So do I not need the actual sensor ? Or just latch

I actually have to Change the latch cable with the handle on my 2013 Chrysler 300C Hemi
Did the cable stretch or break on you ? I wonder how difficult that job will be .
Nice work.!!
Thanks!
Hola llegue asta aquí porque hoy a mi carro le paso lo mismo.
