    I got the mockingbird single to double and am really happy with it. Expecting baby #2 in July, so the littles will be 21 months apart. While I know there are some added benefits to UPPAbaby and Nuna, they didn't matter much for my suburban neighborhood walks and parks. Really happy with what I have and find the rain cover (or bubble as we call it) an awesome add on.

    Ours has been a phenomenal investment. Our oldest daughter at 3 is special needs and can’t walk yet. But our newest little is 8 months and almost almost walking, but we needed something to push both in. Our oldest is also very small and slow to grow so we will get a lot of use out of this. Very happy

    I'm not yet a parent, but do alot of baby sitting. I spent around $800 on mocking bird with all accessories and such thinking this was the one. Nope, I was wrong first 2 days handle bar broke going over the curb, (with only 1 child that is about 6 months old) so he isn't that heavy yet. Contacted mocking bird they told me to buy a replacement frame for $300. I said no, I just spent over $800 for everything. They where hard to deal with. They did offer me a $400 refund, and told me to give back the broken stroller, but they never responded back, it's been over a year. I just sold it part by part. Smh. Oh well. We ended up getting the Vista V2, & City Select 2, also a bob flex 3.0 for jogging or more of trail. Bur in my experience, mocking bird was a no for me, I took a hard loss. I was still financing it along the way. But, I just don't get how other families didn't have my experience. I feel like the only one here.

    Great video! I just recently found your channel and I gotta say your content is extremely helpful.
    Just wanted to ask and see if you were planning on doing reviews on new budget friendly strollers in the future. You mentioned before you recommend the Evenflo Pivot Xpand in that category, but now Graco has launched their direct competitor the Nest2Grow. Also wondering if you're going to look at "premium budget" options such as the Chicco Corso Primo or the Graco Modes Avant.

    • @dadverb
      @dadverb  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely , definitely want to review that. "Premium budget" is a fun way to categorize it as well. (If I use that in a video, I'll be sure to give you a shoutout.) Not sure when I'll be able to get my hands on one but I'll tell you Graco Modes has be a solid budget option and they've made some great updates recently. Would definitely add N2G to my list of best buys to consider.

    When we were stroller shopping, ease of fold was a big factor for us and although the mockingbird fold wasn't the most difficult to fold, it wasn't the easiest either. In addition, when you're handling the stroller and doing said fold, IMO you really feel and notice the slightly lower build quality compared to some of the higher end strollers. A lot of the moving parts felt a bit loose and the overall construction/assembly didn't feel as "tight" as Uppababy/Maxi Cosi/Baby Jogger/etc. This really turned us off to the Mockingbird as it gave us the impression that it wouldn't hold up over time, especially since we were shopping for a convertible stroller that could accommodate a second child down the road.
    We ended up with a Baby Jogger City Select 2 that we're happy with, but admittedly we spent quite a bit more than the cost of the mockingbird, and for someone on a budget, they may be ok with the mockingbird build/feel and would rather have the cost savings. In my view though, there is an element of "you get what you pay for" with the Mockingbird, and parents have to decide what's important to them and how that aligns to their budget. I would recommend to anyone though to go try out strollers IN PERSON. We thought we had a good idea of what to buy based on models we looked at online, but handling them in the store opened our eyes quite a bit and helped us realize what we liked and didn't like.

  • @noahcchapman
    @noahcchapman 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    We’ve been pretty happy with our mockingbird. At the time we bought it, it really gave us a much more premium feel and the style we preferred (very clear uppababy design cues) at a price point we could afford.
    That being said, I completely agree that if you’re willing to spend a premium, and have the ability, then you will definitely feel the difference. The mocking bird is clearly a more budget made stroller in its feel then those higher end counterparts. That being said, it still punches above its weight class for sure. And customer service is great!

    • @emmariddle955
      @emmariddle955 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This!! At the time of our first baby we weren’t in a place to be able to afford the uppababy vista, so we went with the mockingbird single to double.. after a year of solid use I feel as though the mockingbird genuinely won’t last through all of our kids we plan to have and we’re going to end up having to buy another new stroller eventually. The budget cost of a luxury stroller is just starting to show it’s true colors now which is kind of a bummer but honestly expected

  • @rachelburke1957
    @rachelburke1957 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I definitely found the single to double a better value, knowing I wanted to have at least 2 kids going into it. Also, having owned the single model first (double wasn’t released yet) there were several upgrades I enjoyed, like the suspension and more compact seats. I’m excited to get the ride on board, as my son is getting to the point of not wanting to sit in his seat! And it helps when you’re out with friends. I’ve used my double before my daughter arrived, just going on walks with friends who have kids too. (It Helped having them push, while I waddled along 😅) plus I really enjoy the seat conversion options, as opposed to the uppa baby & what I saw with family using it.

  • @ABloodyVikingGaming

    My wife and I's predicament is twins... So we automatically require a double stroller and don't immediately have the option to have one of our littles ride along in a different way. We are going with the BabyJogger City Select 2 which does seem to have a good system to add the second seat and retain a slightly smaller profile. We went this route because we just couldn't get to the point where we felt we really wanted a double wide stroller and it's hard to find a true double stroller that stays compact. I guess it's the age old answer of "it depends on your situation".

    • @dadverb
      @dadverb  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      100% agree that it definitely depends on your situation and lifestyle. City Select is always a great purchase and it has the tightest fold.

  • @TheRealWinser
    @TheRealWinser 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    The biggest drawback of our double is the size. I would definitely prefer a single with a tighter fold because running errands can be a hassle dealing with a large stroller. We have resorted to using a cheap single seater stroller because it is just easier and turns out our baby boy loves it. I would say if you definitely know you will have your kids back to back then a double might make sense but after 2 years with just 1 kid it just doesn't for us.

      I’m watching Mockingbird single stroller reviews for exactly that reason! When I was pregnant with my now 18-month-old my sister who has two children told me if I was planning on having a second just get a double stroller to start with. Well I got the graco Nest2Grow and I’m so over how unnecessarily bulky it is! Worst advice I’ve ever taken haha. I got the last version of this stroller, the single to double i think. and with the car seat attached and the toddler seat it was so hard to maneuver. Felt like it was going to tip over😳 and these walks were just in our neighborhood… also my toddler hated sitting in it. We ended up switching to the double Bob stroller and won’t look back, that’s for sure. It’s not ideal for travel as it’s a jogging stroller but it’s way better for going on walks basically anywhere.
    I wish we would have gone with the bugaboo donkey3 (I think they just came out with a 5) from child 1 (we’re expecting baby #3 now and stuck with a bunch of strollers that don’t accommodate 3😑).

It worked ok with my first born but we bought the second seat kit for my second and it it so hard to push and it can’t go over small sidewalk bumps in chicago. I ordered my second kit when i was 5 months pregnant and I can’t return it because it was delivered more than 30 days ago. I guess I should have waited to order it until 30 days before my due date but I wanted to get it checked off my list. I honestly am so irritated with what a waste it is. I can’t even resell it because of the recall and none of the consignment shops will take it. I am so confused how it go so many positive reviews for people who have two kids.

    I went back and forth between uppababy and Nuna. I thought I’d get a vista or Demi grow but decided on a single and got the mixx, which I didn’t like and ended up selling and getting a Cruz which I love! I am super happy we went with a single. With all the latest and new stuff that comes out it’s nice to get the added features. Also I feel like it gets so banged around and used so much that when a newborn comes id like something cleaner and newer. Also if my daughter ends up not really wanting to use the stroller since she’s already almost 2.5, then I’d just keep the Cruz still for the newborn and add the piggyback. Thinking so far in advance sometimes doesn’t actually end up saving money in my opinion because things break and there is always normal wear and tear. Also, double strollers are so much heavier! You’re carrying that extra weight for like 1-2 years before the next one… and we’ve already even switched more to a minu. First time mom- yes I wanted the full size-- but practicality I love the lightweight strollers

      @@alexisg7644 hi! I’d personally get a single. My daughter already barely used the stroller and we are just starting our journey to our next baby. So essentially it’s another year at the least and for sure I think my daughter wouldn’t be using the stroller that much more. Mind you, she is a stroller baby. She likes it. My Neice is the same age and hates the stroller. My sister is due with her next one this month and is keeping her single stroller and adding a piggy back. She has the uppababy v2 Cruz. She had the mix and didn’t like it too. But she is getting a double stroller for travel and Disneyland and such. She’s going with baby jogger tho this round. She didn’t like that the vista seats are diff sizes. Her daughter is in the 100% for height so she’s so tall. The lower seat in the vista wouldn’t work for her and she prefers to have the baby closer to her. It’s tough cos sometimes you don’t know what you need until the baby arrives and even then it’s diff for everyone because of the child’s personality! With our next one, I’f we do get another stroller, so far I’d go with baby jogger. I also was looking at Thule. Good luck!

    Hi! I’ve been struggling to find a website that sells the Mockingbird and ships to Canada. If someone can help me, it would be great!

      I was able to ask Mockingbird and here's what they said - "The short answer is today we only ship in the US, but here is a little more detail from our Customer Experience team:
      Our stroller is tested by the rigorous US safety standards, but since Canada has its own regulations for strollers that we have not officially tested against, we're unable to ship our stroller there or endorse taking it across borders 😔. I know that's not the answer you're looking for but hope that helps provide a bit more context!"

    I had twins so I was always looking into a single to double/ double stroller and I really liked the price point of mockingbird. Now that they are 9 months old im not really liking it that much. I love the storage underneath, very spacious. But if we fill it up it kind of prevents is from freely changing up the position of the seats. So when they are both facing forward I have to put my shorter one on top because if I put my longer one on top she would just kick the top of the other seat lol. I thought I wouldn’t want a side by side double stroller but that is what im leaning towards now. Because with the mockingbird I have to move to side to see the baby on the bottom. Or sometimes one would get fussy and not want to be on the bottom because they can’t see us.

    Bought this when it first came out and felt like we've been getting punished over and over with their new releases for being early adopters. No option to add the double seat, now no option to add the riding board. What a bummer.

      I know, I'm so sorry. Are you still using your Mockingbird? How has it been for you aside from missing out on the new releases?

      @@dadverb we don’t use it as often with two kids we actually started using the Zoe twin+ once the smallest was able to sit up. It’s become our daily driver since it’s pretty compact even for being a double stroller. We enjoyed the mockingbird when we used it often with our first but it became a hassle bringing it in and out of the trunk. The finicky footrest would always pop up.

      @@jnchichioco That footrest is something I brought up in my original review and still something that bothers me. And yeah, seems like so many parents follow suit and migrate to a smaller stroller down the line for ease and convenience. Glad to hear you've enjoyed the Zoe.

      You might contact them. I contacted them to say how I was disappointed that my single stroller was not compatible with the riding board and they said I could send in my single and then get the new one (single to double) for $150. It comes with the new canopy too. I feel like their customer service is great.
