Fire spin is so wierd im not sure i understand the intention behind it. Like, the damage ho oh takes is distributed amongst allies i the spin?
Why not the other way around, take damage for allies as a defender?
Because you got it wrong. Ho-Oh's Fire Spin takes damage for his allies...

As long as an ally is inside the Fire spin, A portion of damage dealt to that ally is redirected to ally, so Hooh takes some of that damage on that allys behalf and the ally doesnt take that part of the damage.
So Fire spin actually alrewdy works the way you said it should at the end of your comment

It looks weird to me that it's more elevated than the rest of the cast. I guess that's because its wings are huge and they don't want them to clip the floor.

Do you think full heal would be valuable on this mon?
Firespin is innate unstoppable so full heal won't benefit it while that move is active. Also the penalty for a flame thrower getting interrupted early is way weaker than other moves that are forced to suffer the full cooldown even if they were interrupted when the attack animation barely started. If ho-oh flamethrower gets interrupted right as you start it you only need to wait 1 second before unleashing it in their face again so only a chain stun lock can legitimately prevent a ho-oh from using flame thrower. A fire spin/flame thrower ho-oh legit has the least need for full heal out of basically everything in the game.

Talking about Flamethrower, with all the power creep and the shields etc. I really miss the true damage on Charizard. I still hope it'll be back someday.

I hope Armarouge is another tank. Like the game is filled with Attackers and All Rounders so more Tank and Support options will be nice. Plus Armarouge is technically tanker than Ceruledge who’s already an all rounder so I hope they don’t make it an attacker by default.
It seems we've been getting an EX pokemon every half a year for 2 years, right? 1 on February for pkmn day and anothet on unite annyversary.
With this in mind I think the next Pkmn day release will be Koraidon

Fire Spin towards the end did 2500 damage to that level 12 A9. That's insanely busted for an AoE, let alone an AoE from a dang defender.

@@pressheart64 Except all other EX mons are meant to do damage. Even the "all-rounder" EXs have eos energy going towards doing damage. Ho-oh is a DEFENDER doing that much. Big difference of our experience so far.

@factysaurspeedster, it just makes sense. Most attackers are ranged. Idk why all-rounder either. Same with Metagross.
Hope they super nerf the damage before release or have some gimmick like zacian to balance him. I'm ok with ho-oh being tanky af, but not with a ton of damage output.
This build must rum x speed, that's y at least one flying move is a must
why not play defenders we have:
does not die and regenerates
does not die and regenerates
does not die and regenerates
does not die and has shields for days
does not die and stuns you into next week
and then lapras and greedent
and now we have ho-oh: does not die, *but you die.* and if our team dies, they won't.

Imo, Ho-Oh shouldn't be a char to play with. We never saw it battle in the anime and it's too legendary and mysterious. It feels weird to play with a Ho-Oh. Lugia, either one of the three legendary birds or dogs/cats (Suicune, Raikou, Entei) would be suitable if they want to release a legendary pokemon.
Flamethrower is just a shorter and weaker bullet seed

Ho-oh's gonna be banned every rank match. No one's gonna use it.
I am disappointed in how the devs designed Ho-oh. It's moveset looks boring and doesn't give defender vibes. The Flamethrower animation looks goofy. They didn't even add Sacred Fire as one of its moves. It feels like a mon the devs put zero creativity into. The only interesting thing about it is the unite move. 🤷
I feel the same way too why not use its move you know then no team healing idk ass to me also
Depending on how this thing releases, it may allow for a defender, double support, double speed meta. Absolutely wild

Welp looks like unite is gonna be unplayable again for a while. So they gotta nerf it's survivability and all it's moves.
Jake stop making it seem like its completely over powered. Imo they did very well making Ho-Oh and due to his defender role he isnt insanely broke like the other ex mons (Mind you they are all attackers and all-rounders).
Honestly to me this version of ho oh in the test server seems balanced if anything. Not broken or OP compared to other legendaries or Pokemon they've released. So wonder if it'll be any different in the public servers
I think fire spin is the only move that needs a minor nerf before its realized but I agree with you I don't think it's OP but I do feel it might be OP when you add in comfey etc into the mix with this pokemon
