Different color, different color dash, different color levers and bars, ohlins rear suspension, new kayaba front suspension. These are the *literal* differences between the SP and non SP models. peace
Best looking reviewer on Visordown but she was reading from a script and you could tell she didn't actually know about what she was reading off the script , I'm sure she never went near the limit of the bike to test its front end grip .
I understand what you're saying but she seems very anxious for the time being,holding micro and doing speakage , i think she will turn out just fine given time. She's very cute though, I like her.
It's all very well mentioning about ride feel and a lack of grip etc etc but when you ride round corners upright I don't think anyone believes you.......

I've driven one and trust me: this MT09 SP is superb and the suspension are just outstanding. She'll need to push it further until you can recognize its limit.
Traction control 1 and 2 are very different. 2 cuts in as soon as the front wheel starts to lift or the back breaks traction. Setting 1 will let the front lift right up and will let the back step out slightly before it catches it
And the speech volume goes up and down and up and down between clips but background music stays the same. The girl seems like she's afraid to speak up and speak loudly and clearly, almost like she's mumbling under her breath at times. It gave me a headache, had to stop watching. Many problems, not just one.
Minor point, but I find it really annoying when journalists thoughtlessly repeat manufacturers' marketing BS, such as Yamaha's claim about "crossplane" inline triple? The crank is not a cross but a three-pointed star (much like Mercedes logo), just like EVERY single triple on the market. Don't get me wrong, it's a brilliant engine, I'm just allergic to marketing departments treating us like morons with journalists being complicit in the act.

People interested in this bike mighht be a little dissapointed in this review. This is an MT first (Maximum Torque) where a rider wants to know it will serve it's imtended purpose. The original MT09 got some criticism for handling, which i personally never found. I might suggest that it needs to be ridden a little more positively. I'm not suggesting it must be ridden hard wherever it goes but it is definitely not switchy, that is a rider impression only.
I think the US will also be using the MT moniker rather than FZ from now on, which is good. Not sure why they didn’t from the start? New SP looks good and priced right at the Street Triple R as said. Very closely matched now. Bonuses for the SP over the Street TR that initially stand out are the quick shifter as standard and it makes its power and torque much further down the RPM. No TFT though :-( I’d still prefer a rear seat more along the lines of the MT07 with the slightly raised rear section.

That to quote you hideous number plate holder will act as a very effecient splash guard for those that ride in the rain. I've actually fitted a powerbronze one (just a guard not a number plate) to my gsxs and I like the look of em and it means you can have a tail tidy and not get a wet back.. Different folks different strokes I guess.
Don't listen to the haters Laura, you're a lot better than when you started and it hasn't been that long. The fact they can't help but mention your gender in their comments is telling... Edit: Though I do agree that more people might enjoy a more excited reading style :)
Awesome to see a female reviewer. A nice break from such a male dominated industry. However she did seem a bit bored by her own review. Although i'm sure the nerves will go away with practice. Keep it up 👍 :)

These type of motorcycle news channels, should incorporate some POV motorvlog style in the review something like what 44 teeth do. Times are changing we want to see real-time reviews as well voiceovers.
I don't think that you appreciate how many knowledgeable, experienced and truly 'fanatical' riders you're talking to. You're taking about one of the best and most appreciated bikes of the past 5 years and this is what you deliver??? Especially to an audience starved for new bike news and desperate to ride (middle of winter). I don't give a ...., if it's a man or a woman that's doing the review so no apologies necessary. This is probably one of the worst reviews I've ever seen (other than some amateurish vlogs out there) - EVER. Reviewing a bike is more than reading of a teleprompter. I'm certain that there is a slue of very small details and improvements that were made to this bike, but for that you need to know the; history, the previous specs, and generally love bikes..
FortNine, RiderDomain and Revzilla do fantastic reviews. Motorcycle.com does some good reviews, but some are not so good. I watch some Visordown reviews, but you are right, anodyne identikit reviews like this are somewhat boring.
How can the reviewer not question the lower rear spring rate? a typical critique of the mt09 is the too low spring rates for most riders. I bet all the journalists were below 140lbs ;-)

However, since Yamaha appear to be the only ones using the term officially, perhaps they are simply trying to say it's not just a run-of-the-mill commuter naked - it's got a bit more zest. I mean, it's no streetfighter, so it's hardly hyper at all in that sense, just a deliberately mildly brutal roadster, whose designed-in waywardness actually slows it down in sports-type riding - hypo-ing the hyper, as it were...
depends who is ridding it! i can smoke people on my SP leaving them for dead until you hit a straight line. More rider before more bike...... I have both the MT10sp and 9 sp. The 10 I mostly take to the track the 9 is the better all round road bike IMO

How is it a more compact design from the standard model? They're the same. The paintwork and suspension do not make it more compact.
