    Hey dude, I just figured something out! You can take microfiber towel and do the same thing only faster and easier. I tried it yesterday.
    I took a yellow microfiber towel and dabbed some acetone on it then I started cleaning the white paint off of Bullseye body. It was so fast, and using my experience with acetone, I didn't damage the plastic at all.
    Keep it in mind and give it a shot, it's way easier than the Q-tip method. Plus you use less acetone. Oh yeah and the best part is that no little fibers get stuck to the plastic if you coat it with a little too much acetone.

  • @NathanSoehardi
    @NathanSoehardi 6 ปีที่แล้ว +35

    Isopropyl alcohol does the same thing but it's gentler than acetone

    • @UltraKryptonian
      @UltraKryptonian 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I tried to use 91% Isopropyl Alcohol to remove some excess acrylic paint from a figure and very little paint came off! The bottle is old (Expired 7/2011), so maybe that had something to do with it? I don't want to use acetone, because you can see in this video how the plastic looks a little rough after use.

    5:08 - what grit of sandpaper should be used to sand down a figure when it gets like that

  • @pseudoprodigy
    @pseudoprodigy 6 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    Go for the cracks first, remember acetone is etching that plastic as well and makes the plastic have a dried “white” appearance. If you throw a black wash on the whole figure evenly usually everything looks even again.

    • @Poundz978
      @Poundz978  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      pseudoprodigy yes the plastic will dry, but I always paint on afterwards and seal when done and the figure looks clean and one tone once done

    I know you should know it by now but be this message for all those who are in doubt. Acetone is quite volatile, if you want to save acetone and your health, use it in a well ventilated area and keep the bottle ALWAYS closed. Also acetone WILL MELT most plastics so only use it if you are very sure that the polymer you use it on does not reacts to acetone. Isopropyl alcohol works better without the plastic melting factor. Anyhow, use it in a ventilated area and VERY AWAY from any fire source.

    • @Poundz978
      @Poundz978  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Belze alcohol does not work better .... acetone will not melt plastic from a wipe with a q- tip... unless you let it saturate your plastic surface .....
      Make a video and show me how better alcohol is when removing paint. I’ll def watch

    Gonna be doing this on the same figure to make a Spawn custom. I did this a while back on a DCUC figure and found that the acetone also eats at the chest quicker because it's a different type of plastic used for most torsos on action figures, like I guess because the plastics is harder it breaks down quicker or something. that's just my guess though.

    Hi. Your video is really helpful. I just got an Emma Frost action figure -the one with the black outfit- and her face has a little spot, like a little mole in her right cheek, and it has the color of her lipstick, which is blue. I was wondering, I guess the basic color the head is skin like color, so if i apply a little bit of remover, would that come of? or would the intensity of the skin color get affected?

    I use spray acrylic clear coat sprayed into a plastic cup and brushes or qtips. Safest way I've found to do it. The cheap shit in the blue cans where they sell apple barrel paint and other paints that shouldn't be used on customs is the best stuff to use. You won't take off plastic, just paint. Trust me, it works and won't damage anything at all.
