  • #806 - ANOTHER LIFE: THE FINAL CHAPTER 5/5
You can now watch the series (episodes 70-875) in improved quality for more than 95% of the episodes with the exception of episodes 70-90 and few others on this playlist:
    • Another Life: Episode ...
The first 69 Another Life episodes are still on the original 1 inch tapes. CBN's international department has never given permission to anyone for these videotapes to be used and that permission will likely never be given. Anyone interested would have to talk to the international department about this if he or she wishes to carry it any further. Even if you were able to get permission to have these tapes digitized and released, you'll have to pay for many hours of Overtime in which to have this done. Something of this nature is no longer part of CBN's daily workflow. Also The Engineering department no longer supports the machines that perform these functions and the tapes are very old and cause many problems in the machines. This is not an easy request to fill for numerous reasons. Additionally you would have to get permission from the CBN legal department before you could have any access to the Another Life tapes.

Wow! I am so glad that I was able to see every episode! Thank you for your constancy in uploading each and every one. You have no idea how much it means to me to see how walking through life is full of all kinds of situations both joyful and painful and how things work out. I hope there is another series out there that meets people where they are that shows how God is with us through it all. Thank you for blessing us with all of the episodes with consistency-so we could see everything in order and "on time!"

I sure hate to see this end, but then my wife and I watched this show in the 80s, when it was first run, and were so disappointed when it was cancelled. Then, all these years later, I found it on TH-cam.
To the 100 or so people who watched these episodes with us, God Bless you all.
To the person who uploaded these, thank you! I know you're in the Middle East, because many episodes were on Middle East TV station, and we are in the USA, and I wish we knew a little something about you. Anything you'd care to share would be great. God Bless you, too!

This show was SUCH a big part of my life. I found it on Chanel 38 in Chicago because they ran it during the day and then repeated it late at night. I found my relationship with Christ from watching this show. Finding or again two years ago was such a blessing. And now with this final episode in its entirety, I feel like it's the end again. Thankfully I haven't watched episodes between 650 and 860.

@@peteholmberg3260 Yes! I too watched Another Life on TV 38 Chicago during the early 90s. I caught it at night after I got in from work. If I remember correctly, the lineup was Another Life, Night Light, a talk show out of Canada, and Crossroads Cafe, a talk show where viewers could call in with questions, comments, or prayer. Good programs, good memories! You know, I wonder if Jerry Rose(is he still alive?), the director for TV38, now Total Living Network, can provide any info about the Another Life tapes they had? Maybe there's a copy of the series with the original 60 episodes included. I would love to see the storyline prior to Russ and Lori's accident, the trial between Lori and Paul Mason, Miriam Carpenter Mason's husband, plus the day to day life of all the characters, including college life for Lori and Becky, who were best friends and roommates.

Syndicated soaps done in the style of mainstream network soaps
on NBC, CBS & ABC there were at least three that I know of is a Canadian soap Strange Paradise that loosely resembled Dark Shadows and two US network soaps Another Life on CBN &
the Catlin's on WTBS and an Australian teen oriented soap
Paradise Beach none of these soaps got any exposure in the
soap opera magazines that only covered the network soaps
I look at the IMDb for the casts of these four soaps and
Another Life was a great Christian Soap Opera but lacked
exposure to those viewers that couldn't get CBN where I
lived here in Oklahoma CBN was on in the early morning to
afternoon and then another tv station would come on from a
Dallas and Fort Worth tv station that we got here in Oklahoma.

I think episode 871 and 873-875 were the best of the final episodes. It's been great watching this again after so many years. I pray that someone who even has the 1st 60 episodes on home videotape will be open to uploading it to TH-cam or sharing with this page. Thanks for all your hard work, and may God richly bless you!

The issue with the first 69 episodes is a self-inflicted 'wound' because the show's producers back in 1981 decided to pull out those episodes from any future distribution since they were considered substandard and heavy handed. TV stations which began airing the show in smaller media markets in early 1982 were made aware that they would start off with episode 70 as the first one in line. So basically producers turned a page and made a conscious decision to introduce changes in terms of cast, crew, sets and story line development. The fact that those episodes haven't seen the light of day since the one and only time they were aired suggests that either all efforts were exhausted a long time ago or that there was an orchestrated effort to make them mysteriously disappear. A more logical explanation would be that since CBN gave up its right to the show back in the late Nineties, the issue has simply not been opened for further inquiry.
My view on the matter is that if you are still passionate about this mystery and are in a position to contact CBN and connect with the relevant people in charge of archival materials, you should exert every effort to do so within a predefined time frame. Realistically, the prospects of watching all 69 or even a small portion of those episodes is very slim after more than 37 years. That's why I don't want to hang on to that elusive hope when the answer is squarely at CBN's doorstep: If they have the master tapes, what are the prospects of being able to watch them at their own facility? Would they be open to releasing them at some form or another or as far as they're concerned it is non-negotiable...we need clarity so that we don't go on chasing rainbows.
Thank you for the words of encouragement. I must admit that I have mixed feelings about the final 5 episodes, but those didn't start only there. I mostly regret that the Redlons played second fiddle to other characters and that Carla's character was reduced to being an extension of Gene's journalistic mind. Unlike Lori's role in balancing Ben's willful blindness , Carla struggled to have a presence and a voice for a very long time. I also regret that Terry's character became less omnipresent as the years went by. Her character became very predictable and only a fraction of her potential and range was truly explored. Vanessa was probably the most compelling and brilliant character the show offered along side Brian's debonairing and wry humor. It was a breath of fresh air until mostly men writers thought it was proper to turn a femme fatale into a She Devil...that's when all the rules of drama and suspense were broken for the sake of spiritual warfare.

What bothers me about Brian is, as he and Vanessa schemed to kill the wealthy and steal their fortune, why didn't the show take to time out to explore charges being brought against him? I know Brian wasn't aware of everything that Vanessa was up to but he knew enough that he was just as guilty as she was. Brian used his influence as a doctor to collaborate with Vanessa to manipulate his patients. Brian got off easy as he was still able to practice medicine.

Overall it was a terrific show. I I wish the first 69 shows could be seen somewhere. I also wish that Babs, Harold and Nancy had accepted Christ. If there had been time, they could have explored how a Christian and non Christian can struggle in a marriage (Vaughn and Courtney). I would have loved seeing John Brubaker work over Dan Myers while learning his sister Tina would be OK thanks to Gil.

This show was good for most of its run. My favorite period of the show was Lori's attack at the hands of Blue Nobles and Miriam's kidnapping. I also enjoyed Miriam's custody fight against her father, the Kate Carothers murder mystery, and the relationship of Russ and Becky. The Dar Salaam story marked the beginning of the end for me. But a good show, nevertheless.

Come March 1985, "Neighbours", created by Reg Watson, would change everything. A soap from Australia. "Another Life" & "Edge Of Night" disappeared in 1984.

Lynwood King (Producer) spoke briefly, in 2002, about his time on Another Life, in a video interview from Archive of American Television, that can be accessed through the below link. Mr. King discusses Another Life in Part 6 of 6,
    starting at 6: 32.
    emmytvlegends.org/interviews/people/lynwood-king
The video is outlined below in written form:
Lynwood King: Well, the last thing I did, now brace yourself, was, I did a soap opera for Pat Robertson. See, I see the smile come on your-yes that Pat Robertson in Virginia Beach, Virginia pal.
Interviewer: He was doing soap operas?
Lynwood King: Yep. His network before he sold it.
Interviewer: It was a Christian soap opera?
Lynwood King: It was a Christian soap opera, supposedly.
Interviewer: Do you remember the show?
Lynwood King: Yeah. It was called Another Life and it lasted for 3 ½ -it’s still
running somewhere. I think it’s running on Pat Boone’s station out in California.
Interviewer: What kind of problems did these people have?
Lynwood King: Well, it’s “Have you told the Lord lately?” and things like-I don’t want to sound flip but when you’re in that environment and see-well let’s just say that Burt Lancaster in that movie had it correct about your holy roller
    preachers and what have you.
Interviewer: Did you have to deal with Pat Robertson per say?
Lynwood King: Well actually, I was treated very well, yeah, as the New York guy and all of that stuff. I flew down on Monday morning and I flew back on Friday afternoon and they paid for everything like that. They gave me a car and a house to live in and I was treated better on that soap opera than almost any
other professional job I’ve ever had and I hate to say it, it came out of some
people’s collection plates, you know, so that’s the whole thing but it was a
    very interesting 3 ½ years.

Here's the official word from the Supervisor of the CBN Media Resource Department: "The first 70 Another Life episodes are still on the original 1 inch tapes. The international department has never given permission to anyone for these videotapes to be used and that permission will likely never be given. You would have to talk to the international department about this if you wish to carry it any further. CBN now serves mainly as a production company for The 700 Club and four other syndicated news shows. It doesn't produce drama shows anymore. If you have a suggestion for a reboot, you'll need to take it up with Pureflix, Crossflix or any other Christian online movie production platform.
