City Blue = I Love New York, I'm biased, but let me explain, one time heading to work in a cab, I shared it with a young lady, we talked about life & our love of the city, by the time we got to SOHO I wished her well, a young beauty with the world at her feet. I'll be 60 yrs old this May, but this song reminds me of that special moment.
What can I say ? “Evolution!” Love it!!! The music is on point. The 2002 tones are there. The city vibe is another distinction. Even in the city, we still search for those key elements ! It gives a “blues feel” and a “feeling blue” mode as well. Weakened me for a wonderful reason! I’m in absolute awe! Bravissimo ! Los adoro!!!!
This song n video just fits perfect together. ❤❤ I heard this song from Pandora (station: David Arkenstone) and since them, i cannot stop listening this song. Reminds me NYC from early 2000's everything was different and better than today. Thank You so much for sharing this video with us.
😌So lovely... charming... inspirational... wonderful relaxing music to listen to on a night out in the city🌃 wonderful saxophone 🎷🎹🎻 🎶💎Congratulations 2002 - Pam, Randy and Sarah. Love, peace and good night from Brazil.❤
Absolutely love it the music the video Blends as one another city guy anymore brings back many nights in the city just absolutely beautiful what a way to wake up
Wonderful video in perfect sync with the mood created by the music. The addition of a tenor sax gives 2002 yet aother musical dimension to explore, and this is certainly a great beginning.
This is such a BRILLIANT direction, and natural progression, for 2002!! For just a few seconds, I truly thought this could be a follow up to Chris Botti's "Alone in the City", as the sounds and mental images, at least in my mind, blend together beautifully. Thank you, 2002, for giving me a new song to truly give my full attention to! Spiritual jazz...FAR OUT!! *Love from Ohio* ❤️
in the past two years, 2002 has become my favorite go to for relaxation music. This latest piece so accurately captures the mood of a large city attenuated by a simple rainfall provided by nature. So warm, comforting and inspirational. Great job!
Really nice! As much as I dislike cities, this song makes them seem so appealing! And Clouds is beautiful too, a little different direction for you guys. Thanks!
Well, that's a surprise - saxophone. Do I like it? No, I LOVE It. Congratulations. Very sultry, a little different and it feel like you've spread your wings a little. Very restful tune and video, both of which give me a very warm feeling inside. When will be be able to order the album?
Thanks Curtis! The song was actually composed about 20 years ago. We recently re-recorded it after locating the original saxophonist. There never was sheet music, though!
Inspired by 2002's song and video, "City Blue". I hope you enjoy reading it while the music plays. “A Walk to Catch a Train in the Rain” My first mistake this morning Was deciding to walk to work today Looking outside, hands to my face Realizing, I’ve stayed way to late This day is gone And the night has set in And like a drum beat tapping on my window Shaking my head Oh no…Not again It’s raining… And it’s eight blocks away to catch my train Well…guess I’d better get going Grabbing my coat, stepping out the door Looking up at the dark sky with squinting eyes I must say Thank God for hoodies My journey begins Each step brings wet splashes Lightning flashes Followed by rumbles of thunder Tall buildings surround me City blue lights are a blur Those neon advertising signs are hard to read tonight Many strangers watching, passing me by All with a story of their own Some laughing in their conversations Some more serious, saying… leave them alone Or asking comically… where is his umbrella Cars and trucks slowly drive by Honking horns at each other, all with places to go During my walk, I smile from reminiscing Of days gone by My mind reflects of a love lost A deep sigh, yeah… She is no longer here with me Emotions of sadness, some with gladness For different reasons My soul longs…to not spend the rest of this life alone My heart will heal And someday, perhaps Love will come again I realize how precious life is Like drifting through these wet streets So is time of course Oh look…there’s my train Well, that didn’t take as long as I thought With a giggle to myself Guess who won’t be forgetting their umbrella tomorrow And despite being soaking wet I must admit, this wasn’t so bad It was a chance for me to clear my head Looking back… from where I’ve come In so many ways And tomorrow, is a new day So much to ponder about Where will life lead me next Guess we’ll soon find out All aboard… ““A Walk to Catch a Train in the Rain” Written By: Jeffrey Allen Buffington January 17, 2023 Images in Words 2023
Something blusey by 2002 is something new with Randy playing the alto sax ? Simply relaxing and enjoyable.
Hi Keith! That's Ryan McCullough on sax and Randy on piano. :-) Thank you!

Yes, totally evokes Vangelis' "Love Theme" from Bladerunner, but excellent on its own merit too! Going to watch again after I open my umbrella... 😀

Nice nod to the late Vangelis.
What a refreshing sound of the heights. 2002 in the future, that is today's mood and we're here to enjoy it as a jewel in the soul's crown
Just what I need, as I reminisce about my own city blue. So caressing and tender, it could form the soundtrack of my life. Thank you!
The music sounds like a sophisticated city....most of your stuff has always been nature stuff....but this is different and y'all nailed it
I never expected this from 2002! But I love it!
Expect the unexpected, folks.

I’m not in general a fan of jazz or blues, but this was lovely ❤️
You’re missing out! There’s nothing like the instrumentals of jazz and blues, contemporary jazz … it’s all I listen to for my peaceful life.

Love the "Bluesy" jazz sounds of City Blue
. Is the sheet music for the Alto Sax part available for purchase? If so, where can I find it? Thanks! :)

“A Walk to Catch a Train in the Rain”
My first mistake this morning
Was deciding to walk to work today
Looking outside, hands to my face
Realizing, I’ve stayed way to late
This day is gone
And the night has set in
And like a drum beat tapping on my window
Shaking my head
Oh no…Not again
It’s raining…
And it’s eight blocks away to catch my train
Well…guess I’d better get going
Grabbing my coat, stepping out the door
Looking up at the dark sky with squinting eyes
I must say
Thank God for hoodies
My journey begins
Each step brings wet splashes
Lightning flashes
Followed by rumbles of thunder
Tall buildings surround me
City blue lights are a blur
Those neon advertising signs are hard to read tonight
Many strangers watching, passing me by
All with a story of their own
Some laughing in their conversations
Some more serious, saying… leave them alone
Or asking comically… where is his umbrella
Cars and trucks slowly drive by
Honking horns at each other, all with places to go
During my walk, I smile from reminiscing
Of days gone by
My mind reflects of a love lost
A deep sigh, yeah…
She is no longer here with me
Emotions of sadness, some with gladness
For different reasons
My soul longs…to not spend the rest of this life alone
My heart will heal
And someday, perhaps
Love will come again
I realize how precious life is
Like drifting through these wet streets
So is time of course
Oh look…there’s my train
Well, that didn’t take as long as I thought
With a giggle to myself
Guess who won’t be forgetting their umbrella tomorrow
And despite being soaking wet
I must admit, this wasn’t so bad
It was a chance for me to clear my head
Looking back… from where I’ve come
In so many ways
And tomorrow, is a new day
So much to ponder about
Where will life lead me next
Guess we’ll soon find out
All aboard…
