    When a soldier knows he is dying, he cries for his mother or his father. A Clone Trooper does not do this. A Clone cries out for his brothers, knowing all of them, no matter how far away or otherwise engaged, would stop at nothing to come to his aid if he is heard.

    "When the Death Star was destroyed, about half of the 501st Legion was still in the hangar getting to their ships. Of those who made it out, another third were caught in the explosion. I'd fought with some of those men for over twenty years.. Afterwards, those of us that survived hooked up with a nearby Imperial fleet making a retaliatory strike on the rebel's base on Yavin IV. It wasn't the best thought out plan, but we were cut off from our leaders, tired, and operating on instinct. If not for our training, we probably would've never gotten past their orbital defenses..
    After the battle over Yavin came to an end, I'm told we had destroyed hundreds of Rebel ships that day. Even if it had been thousands, it wouldn't have made up for the lives lost in Death Star..."

      eddieguererro46 Star Wars gives us the views of both sides, while we cheered on while we saw the debris of the Death Star we never stopped to think, those were brave men, some had fought for the galaxy however brief they were willing to give their lives for a peaceful, prosperous galaxy, along side the Jedi. Back to the point both sides committed atrocities and neither of them are commendable. .

    • @yaoiboi60
      @yaoiboi60 7 ปีที่แล้ว +27

      "Neither of them are commendable" RIght, because the side that enslaves people is as bad as the one who kills the slave owners. The side who blows up a planet with a superweapon is as bad as the side who destroys that superweapon. That's just false. Not everything might be black and white, but the empire sure as hell is a way darker shade of gray than the Rebels.

    • @yaoiboi60
      @yaoiboi60 7 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      The Republic, which the Rebel Alliance stands for kept billions clothed and fed as well. It did that without enslaving dissenters. And there were many peaceful republic worlds as well.
      And yes, it was an act of war. But one cannot equate destroying an entire planet and bombarding 3 others until there was only bloody glass as a mere act of war equal to that of ambushing storm troopers.
      The Empire isn't plotting to do harm, necessarily. Almost no state does. It, however does plot to consolidate it's power (Not a native -english- basic speaker) like most other states.
      However, it does so with near-absolute disregard for sentient life, as shown by their barbarism, torture, practice of slavery, repression, censorship and political assassinations.

    • @setha7066
      @setha7066 7 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      Scott The Dick The republic was ruled by corrupt politicians and representatives from giant corporations that enslaved and killed even more people. The empire had reasons for there crime, the people they tortured were pirates , criminals, rebellious planets and rebels. But they were effective at keeping the Galaxy in peace and order and they mapped thousand of new systems in the unknown region, developed new technologies for the citizens, and defended the people from so called " freedom fighters". All of their high taxes and enslavement and huge military was to defend the empire and its people from outside threats.

    • @yaoiboi60
      @yaoiboi60 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well duh. The Republic lasted 25 k years, of course it would end up doing more evil (as in sheer amount)
      Dissent should never be an excuse for torture. If your empire must use torture against those who disagree with its oppressive methods just to continue its pathetic, short excuse of a life
      Also, what outside threats? If we take the empire during its short lived era and the republic during the clone wars era, one of them enslaved more people and was much more militaristic and repressive whilst still facing not nearly as big an outside threat as the other. You get no points for guessing which is which.

      This comment is to be read at 3:18 in the video. The theme of a brutal, merciless, opressive Empire plays, yet it plays very peacefully. I can think of no better words to be read over that part of the music than the words of a dying clone who knows that the Empire _will_ rise, but he will not have to raise it. For the first time in his life, he is free.

    It's been said that the 501st got the best of the war. We also got the worst. On Felucia, the Seps dug their metal heels into the muck of that alien hellhole and dared the Republic to come in after them. So we did, only to be met with the month after month of flesh-eating diseases, shrieking nocturnal predators, and other sights that haunt me to this day. Cut off and for all we knew abandoned by our superiors, our only hope was Aayla Secura, our Jedi commander. Without her iron will, none of us would have come out of that mess with our sanity, or our lives. When her death came, I hope it was quick. She earned that much.
    When the 501st was finally rotated out of Felucia, Aayla Secura made a point of seeing us off personally, calling us the bravest soldiers she had ever seen. It's a good thing we were wearing helmets, because none of us could bear to look her in the eye.

    • @kyledillard8029
      @kyledillard8029 7 ปีที่แล้ว +57

      In our bones, we knew the war was almost over. The Galaxy held its breath, waiting to see which side would make the final daring move. As fortune would have it, the Republic moved first. After the Chancellor informed the Jedi Council that General Grievous and the Sep leaders were hiding on Utapau, General Kenobi gathered an army large enough to capture three star systems. When the orders reached the 501st, our morale soared. For better or worse, this would be the beginning of the end.
      With the death of General Grievous at the hands of General Kenobi, the Utapau raid had broken the back of the Separatists. Under normal circumstances, it would have been a time for celebration. But our next orders put paid to those thoughts.

      What I remember about the rise of the empire is...is how quiet it was. During the waning hours of the clone wars, the 501st legion was discreetly transfered back to Coruscant. It was a silent trip. We all knew what was about to happen. What we were about to do. Did we have any doubts? Any private traitorous thoughts? Perhaps, but no one said a word. Not on the flight to Coruscant. Not when Order 66 came down. And not when we marched into the Jedi Temple. Not a word

    If you think about it, the clones are one of the saddest parts of star wars.
    They never knew love normally
    Had a family
    Interacted with people besides well
    Themselves
    They were told "Take this gun, and go die." Basically.
    They weren't expected to live
    All they were told to do is fight
    Fight
    Fight
    Die.

    'We are loyal soldiers, we follow orders, but we are not a bunch of unthinking droids! We are men! We must be trusted to make the right decisions, especially when the orders we are given are wrong!" -ARC-5555 "Fives"
    It's times like this when I realize that some clones are actually people. Rex and Fives were good examples at that. Rex fought for the Republic, and then fought itself when it became an Empire in Rebels, because he knew that he had a choice when it came to Operation: Knightfall. Stand with his brothers, and kill the Jedi that led them into battle for everlasting peace in the galaxy, or betray them, and fight for what is truly better for the future. Fives almost stopped said Operation: Knightfall, and would have saved the entire Republic, the entire GALAXY if he had gotten the chance to eliminate Palpatine once and for all. These clones have shown what most have not: humanity.
    I salute the brave soldiers in their white armor, and give my best respects to those two brave soldiers of the 501st. As RC-1140 "Fixer" has said before: "For the Republic..."

    Remember, following the rhythm of the sound, my brothers,
    The droids, the jedis, the peoples who counted on the Republic.
    Remember also, by letting go a tear, the countless battles fought during the Clone Wars.
    Remember the dark periods of that time, the loss of friends, the loss of good soldiers, order 66, the advent of the Empire.
    Have flashes of murders committed by clones betrayed.
    Remember the golden age of the Great Army of the Republic!

      What I remember about the rise of the Empire is… is how quiet it was. During the waning hours of the Clone Wars, the 501st was discreetly transferred back to Coruscant. It was a silent trip; We all knew what was about to happen, what we were about to do. Did we have any doubts? Any private traitorous thoughts? Perhaps, but no one said a word. Not on the flight to Coruscant, not when Order 66 came down, and not when we marched into the Jedi Temple. Not a word.

    I love the background noise. It sounds like a distant battle. You don’t hear the screams, the cries and the pain; nor the commands, the screams for pushing forward, or pushing back. Just explosions. You know there’s a battle going on but at the same time it’s difficult to imagine that with every little explosion means a life is lost.

    The tragedy of the clones goes beyond just that they were bred to die in battle so an evil megalomaniac could take over the galaxy using them as his enforcers. For all that, there were some who had the greatest chance to emphasize with them; the Jedi may have had the choice to leave the Jedi Order, but how hard would it be to do when it was all they knew? So it was for the clones; mutiny was possible, but what could they do? And in the Clone Wars, these two fought side by side, becoming brothers in arms. The Jedi were /the/ best thing that could have happened to the clones, because the Jedi treated them as PEOPLE, people forced into a terrible situation just as the Jedi were to try and preserve peace in a galaxy at war.
    Then the clones were forced by those chips to betray the people who cared for them, who encouraged them to grow beyond being expendable numbers. Who answered clones saying that they were meant to be expendable by saying they weren't expendable to them. Who encouraged them to take on their own names, to decorate their armor, cut their hair differently, grow beards, get tattoos... to do what they wanted to become individuals more so than they already were.
    That is, perhaps, the greatest tragedy of the Clones: they were forced to betray those who cared most about them, and didn't realize what had happened until it was too late and the chip had done its job. :(

I'm going to say this "I hate war as only a soldier who has lived it can, only as one who has seen its brutality seen, its stupidity."(~Dwight D. Eisenhower) And this one that makes more...."All wars are civil wars because all man are brothers." If you seek their graves...just look around you, and look to the stars, for they have died there....for you. May the Force brought them to a peaceful rest, they have earned it, we still have to carry their honor. We won't rest till we divler hope to this galaxy.

    This is amazing, as always. I wonder why I love well known themes being slowed down, is it because it provokes new emotions, I'll never know.
    Thank you Lucas King for being amazing at what you do

      Like Fives said. 'We're not a bunch of unthinking droids, we're men, and men as to make the right decisions, even if the orders are given wrong."

    The beauty in Star Wars is that, when you look at the Clone Wars for what it really was...and what it was meant to do...it's damn sad.
