Nice resort tour video.
From available online information on Sandals resort size by acres: Ochi - 110, South Coast - 52, St. Vincent - 50, Curacao - 44, Dunn's River - 38 (includes adjacent not completed property), Antigua - 27, Barbados + Royal Barbados - 27, Montego Bay - 26, Grenada - 18, Grande St. Lucia - 17, Royal Bahamas - 17 (with 3 acre Island), Royal Caribbean - 15 (with 2 acre Island). The size of Emerald bay is 500 acres and La Toc is 220 acres, including their golf courses.
In reality, South Coast has 10 restaurants as the brick oven pizza at Giuseppe's for lunch is just like having a Dino's or Bella Napoli. Also, at some point it will have the long promised two food trucks: Tacos & Fried Chicken - hopefully by the time we get there in April.
As far as rooms, unless you really love a very nice room and don't care at all about the view or too much about nearness to the pools, restauarants and beach, the Rondovals (which we have gone on a tour of) would be a very hard sell to many. Similarly, during our last visit, we stayed 2 nights in the bungalows (and 4 nights in the Dutch Village), and their distance from everything except the nature preserve detracts from how very nice they are (although if you call your butler in advance, they will arrange for someone to drive you to the main area or aqua center via golf cart).

Heading there soon! Personally, we are partial to St. Lucia, however, all of our trips with Sandals has been great! Only complaint was in Barbados…coffee machines were down..I am up at 5 a.m. so that was a challenge.

Great Video!! SSC is our most favorite. Our friends & family will be joining us next Dec for my husband’s 50th. I’ve forward them a link to your video 😉 I would be interested in a weddings info video. My husband & I were married at Sandals but that was many years ago 😅 It would be a helpful for our son to see the process. We’re trying to talk him into SSC for his wedding!!

Great review. Two questions: which building would you recommend, between Longbeach and Starlight? Also, how does tipping work for the spa or for those few services where you're allowed to tip - does it go onto your room bill or do you tip in cash? If cash, do you use US$ or Jamaican$? Trying to figure out what the norms are so we are prepared. Love your videos, thanks!
Longbeach is newly renovated! We tip in cash but spa can go on room bill. US$ is fine!
@@ACoupleTravelers Thanks! I know they have an exchange bureau there and I was more worried about whether it would be more convenient to the tippees if the tips were in Jamaican$ vs. US$.
Did you have any concerns about the safety of Jamaica while you were there, given the travel advisory warning by the US department of state?
I did but went twice in the last 8 months (once with just my mom) and we felt so safe. We didn’t leave the resort but would have on an Island Routes excursion if we had more time. I wouldn’t take a cab to local markets or anything like I would at some other islands. That's one of the only differences for Jamaica. Overall, be careful wherever you travel and make decisions you're comfortable with!
Which building is Longbeach Beachfront club level rooms located?

Did you participate in the airport travel bus provided by Sandals? I'm curious if they have set times that the bus travels to and from the airport. I've never been to a Sandals resort and will be finally checking this one out!
We did! It’s not set times, it’s based on when flights arrive so you don’t wait long!
@@ACoupleTravelers Can you do a video talking about the ride to/from the airport? I hear some folks say it's windy and horrible, others saying it isn't so bad. It's hard to know what to believe!
@@leslieharris7167 it depends on the driver! To the resort was horrible, so bad I got sick!! From the resort (same exact route, I confirmed) and I was firm and it was faster. It depends on traffic, if the driver slams on the breaks or doesn’t slow properly for all the bumps

We had some seaweed issues after rain one evening. But that seems to be hit or miss. The day before was clear!

question about water color, in all advertisements it shows very turquoise but when i see photos and videos it seems much darker etc any input? thanks!
The color is this video is not edited, if that helps!
Many areas of SSC beaches contain sea grass, which gives it a darker appearance. SSC is located in a protected area and nature preserve
The water is not as pretty at this resort as it is in negril or montego bay
Resort casual means no swim wear ?
In a restaurant. Yes you can wear swimwear. Just be dry. If you are a guy. Put a t shirt on. For a girl, put shorts and shirts or a cover up on or something. Does that make sense?
