    The memory card you got for $25.00 will not keep up with the data rates the R5 can produce. Get big and fast cards to keep up with camera.

    "Picture trigger". LOL. Spoken like a true Vlogger. I like the M16 reference. One guy was issued an M60 in my company. Me! Torture when you're carrying it, awesome when you're firing it. I don't know what it weighed, but maybe it prepared me for my uncontrolled habit of taking thirty pounds of lenses when I hike into the back country. 10-24, 28-300, 150 macro and a 150-600. I swear some day I'm going to lose my footing on a steep hill and they'll find me at the bottom with my Shimoda wrapped around my neck.

    Am I the only one annoyed at the fact that the grip doesn’t fit perfectly ? It’s longer then the camera and there are gaps. I have a 5d4 and the grip fits perfect. The r6 grip fits better also

    It is not true that the grip uses the higher % battery. It may have appeared that way when you checked it, but I have caught mine using a 68% charged battery when the other one was at 98%. You can tell because the camera will slow down it’s FPS when the battery gets below about 70%. I caught mine doing this twice and each time I swapped the battery position in the slots and the fps went back up to 12 FPS. I wish mine did as you say.

  • @nicholasyasillo1242
    @nicholasyasillo1242 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks for the interesting review, but your statement that "with the battery grip it's another 3 lbs" is simply not correct. A R5 without lens but with one battery weighs 25.6 oz (with the original battery). The BG-R10 adds 12.4 oz plus the ONE extra battery at 3.2 oz. (the original battery just moves from the R5 to the BG). The total increase in weight is 15.6 oz or less than 1 lb. A R5 body with a BG and batteries weighs 41.2 oz total (no lens) or 2.6 lbs. A EOS D1 X Mk3 with battery (again no lens) weighs 50.7 oz (3.2 lbs). If your camera and lens using an internal battery weighs 3 lbs, adding the battery grip will increase the weight by less than 25 percent to total less than 4 lbs. Also, it appears that you are using a micro SD card in a SD adapter. That's generally a bad idea in any Canon EOS camera. SD adapters add additional contact issues that can drastically affect reliability and often cause serious problems! If you value your content, stay away from micro cards in SD adapters.

    • @RylisPro
      @RylisPro  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No worries! I'm sure your are correct with all the weights. I think I meant 3lbs with the RF 28-70 brick I had mounted on at the time. Thanks for the micro sd card tip, yea agree, getting v90 SD cards, Ninja V+, & CFexpress cards from now on!

      @nicholasyasillo1242 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RylisPro Yep, I just didn't want anyone to be afraid of adding the BG because they thought it added 3 lbs :-). FWIW: I've had good luck with Sandisc 128GB CFexpress cards in the R5 (so far - fingers crossed). Also, FYI, I've had good results with "3rd party" LP-E6NH batteries from Powerextra (Amazon) A 3-pack of batteries and a triple-charger goes for $41total, and they work fine. Even if they only last a year or two (as opposed the the Canon batteries which can last for 3 or 4 years, they are a good deal at about 1/5 the cost of a Canon LP-E6NH. Cheers

    Its always interesting stumbling over these videos two years since they were made, being in the market for the BG-R10. Still waiting for the R1 and of course the R5 with it’s firmware updates makes over heating pretty much a thing of the past. I thought it was a hell of a bold step going from a phone to pretty much the top of the range Canon with the very good glass. Not sure if you got the RF 100mm Macro , I have had the R5 for a couple of years almost but kept my EF 100mm as its a top lens, if you haven’t take a look some of canons cheaper primes some of them are very close focusing .
