Some tips for building these elevators -
1. You don't need to use all the same objects, I use coliseum windows because of their height and how they look
2. Once you have finished an elevator and tested that it works in custom games, don't move any of the elevator's objects or it might un-awesome itself
3. When using these elevators you might need to edit whatever game type you're using to have about 3 sec health invulnerability for custom power-ups
4. Tweaking the positions of objects can make a big difference if you are having issues with an elevator
One last thing, there is a very annoying glitch that can make forging elevators very tricky. Basically when you have finished placing objects and have gotten it just right, after saving and loading, the objects will have moved out of place a bit. This glitch is very annoying and time consuming trying to correct

Halo reach still a good game to me even now.
Ive been trying to make a good elevator in halo 3 and halo reach for the longest time and yous is amazing! And a tutorial to follow up, thats epic
when you save and quit, all the object coordinates will be moved back to within 0.1 of the nearest coordinate in the option of edit coordinates (you can manage higher precision when you nudge the objects manually). thats why they move out of place.
@Ganonn360 the higher the elevator goes before being braked will cause less of a jump or tightening the shaft a bit might help, you could also put a roof above where the elevator stops so you don't jump too high but put the edge of a column piece in the back of the shaft to stop the crate from going too high and squashing you between it and the roof, also the lower power of man cannon will cause less of a jump.
@CensorshipIsForNoobs the health invulnerability is for the custom power-ups btw
I spent about an hour figuring this out about 2 weeks after Reach came out, mine works really well, it does screw up sometimes, but not very often. I use a half crate and it's the length of a wall. I also made a down elevator. really simple thing, anyone could make a down elevator.
@BYoshi19 your character picks up the custom power up, but since in forge mode he made it fixed, while its there nothing can move it. The crate can't move because it's blocked on all sides. When your pick up the custom power up, the man cannons can push it up because there's nothing blocking it anymore.
if you put a reciever node instead of a grav lift to stop it, it will do the same thing, just use 4 recievers to put on all 4 sides/ corners, i perfer coners. just remember to lay them flat not sideways like seen in the vid. But great job.
@LiveLongJake there is a glitch that causes objects to move out of place a little bit when you end the forge, that might be causing some issues but tweaking the shaft is really the only thing to do
I made an elevator that goes down using a button switch. I had no clue about these videos though. Two great minds think alike :D
@YouAintReady4Me The best way to stop that is to edit the custom game you're using to have 3 seconds of health invulnerability, it's enough to protect you in the elevator and wear off after you get to the top
a good idea for a way to make a shooting free down elevator would be to make a landmine behind a oneway sheild that blows up the fixed fusion coil so all you have to do is stand on the elevator crate near the landmine.
ur 1 of the best forgers i have ever seen
for the down elevator, put a mine under a one way shield and link it to the fusion coil. its a better way than shooting the fusion coil each time
@RAIZ0R1211 make the elevator shaft the same as an upward elevator, set a crates physics to fixed and place where you want to go down from, now set a fusion coils physics to fixed, it should be placed under the front of the crate and sticking out far enough to be shot as show in the video.
@Kornifnotthendie Well when you put it for a stopper for the elevator you don't have to edit it. If you want it for a special game then all you need to do is, go into custom games, edit game options and serch for the custom power ups. It isn't hard to find.
@Spaghetti775 no u put the powerup there and ten change the crate to ormal physics. dont grab it. that may disorient it. just put ur curser ovr it and press x and change the physics

instead of a custom powerup you can use a locked weapon so its more like a button to make you go up.

@metalsonic71 usually only the up elevator does damage and that can be stopped with the custom power-ups having health invulnerability in custom games
@alex82muchfood u have a fusion coil below it so it doesn't fall then there's a mine near it that u shoot so it explodes the fusion coil and the crate will fall. but it would work better if u put it up higher were u can see it and made a 2 way shield right on it so it doesn't hurt u when u touch or shoot it near u
@danoob96 maybe if you and the crate can pass up through the shield it should work, but you might want to put something in the corner of the shaft to stop the crate from going to high
Wow, i tried this in halo 3 and managed to make one that could bounce a platform but this is amazing!!!
@januarymurray you have to place the powerup perfectly alligned with the top of the crate
@leclear8 change the physics from normal to phased or fixed do this by holding the object and clicking "X"

@adamaadz in custom games change your game type to have 3 secs of health invulnerability on the custom power-ups
@terrywest111 try still using the light man cannons, or the non heavy ones, perhaps try combining shield doors in some areas to help it move farther up...i guess wht im saying is experiment a little to make a lift that works perfectly for your map, each map is different.
@shunfglol while holding the object press "x" and there should be an option called "object physics" or similar
Epicness I made both in like 30 minutes give or take and for the elevator that goes down I had a lot more fusion coils
Hmm, nice elevators, but i was expecting the up and down part to be on the same elevator, you might as well of made a gravity lift going up and a drop pod

thank you so much for this you solved my stairs issue...now i dont need stairs on games i just need a crate and a fusion coil and some man cannons and 1 grav lift...finally you saved me...is there any other objects that are able to become the shaft??? some maps i might not have windows but i might have something else thats smooth

One small thing...change the fusion coil to a land mine and save ammo by throwing grenades.
@megamanxdeath To go through stuff? are you talking like going through objects such as the building blocks or the crates? If so, all you need to do is set the power up to phase instead of normal and fixed. Now if I can remeber correctly the powers may not like to go through things to easily, so all you need to do is just go slow and shimmy it up and around objects untill you get it to where you want it.

You should make a ride, like the elevator ride down, except make it super high up.

2 questions.
1.Can you use a vehicle gravity lift?
2. Do you have to use a window, coliseum or can you use a wall coliseum instead?
@jrod1097 gravity lifts push the person up the shaft faster than the crate = dangerous and won't look as realistic

but the way I like to make elevators is by getting a gravity lift and make it face up then step inside it

@willyboi619 working on it but the button one take about twice as much work and objects so it's harder than these elevators

Every time I get on the elevator it gets stuck and then it kills me.the crate has enough room and it still doesnt work
You dont have to use the windows, use any wall you like.
in place of fusion coil i placed a shotty and instead of power up i used an evade

Another thing, can you tell us all of the settings and advanced settings of all objects? That may be why I'm having trouble. Also, how do you freeze/un-freeze an object? Is that just Fixed to Normal physics, or something else?
I made this elevator my own and my own drop pods and they make the best map
@iWannabeyourfan keeps the crate in place.

@zTMOpTiCz if you are standing close to the crate it will keep it from respawning, also is it set as "fixed" or "phased" because switching to on or the other might fix it, but as long as the respawn time is anything but "never" it should respawn.

Serious question on adding our own touches... Is it possible to use a box bunker instead of a crate? In theory, it should be possible, but I can't get it to work.
Also... I had an idea of making a hanging rail car using a double room as the car and having a series of 5x1 short blocks connected together as the rail with the rail going through the double room the long way. Was planing on having the same activation to each as your design, but am getting nowhere. Any suggestions?

I would have to say this is like a work in progress and could use more research before it could be applied to aything.(its kind of inpractical)

The best method here is to hold in the left thumbstick, which will allow you to move the object much slower, and allows for higher precision.
Yo censorship it actually works I made it go higher than ever lol so cool thx...also is there a way to get more than one person into the elevator instead of waiting for it???

if u use a mine and a sereies of fusion coils the down elevator would be better
