I bought a 28mm lens for my Canon AE-1 to take on holiday to Scotland. My wife was like "Why did you buy that?" Then when she saw the photos she said "Oh, that's why!" It's become my go-to lens.
Always have a pair of rubber boots in the trunk!
You made me chuckle as usual Roger 😂 Thankyou for all your videos through the year and hope you and your family have a happy healthy 2024
Thank you !
I just picked up a 28 mm lens. Looking forward to using it. This video is giving me inspiration.
My Nikkor f2 28mm is my EDC and has been for decades. For a while I had a Leica CM which has a 40mm, that is quite lovely, but it's down for the count. Cheers from Toronto, Canada.
Nice one boss. Have a great 2024 Mark
I heard it said the other day that IoW is the sunniest ‘county’ in the UK, so you are lucky Roger. Happy new year 👍📸
Must be nice having Peter on speed dial when theres something wrong with your negative 😊 Happy New Year Boss!
Ha Ha, yes it does come in handy! A great guy to chat with
I didn't have a 28mm for a long time until I was able to buy one for dirt cheap. Meanwhile I know that the focal length is very good for photographing houses. A little wider than a 35mm but not as wide-angle as a 24mm, just right. Now I have three different ones for the Nikon F and one for the rangefinder camera.
Dont bother with wellies , you need thigh waders :) Happy New Year to you and yours.
I enjoyed that.
Very nice photos. Nothing beats b&w film.
I love my 28mm on my M3 for street photography.
Thanks
Another fab video, and always so uplifting! Despite being meticulous, I’ve had a couple of mucky neg processes. Recently I’ve been using ‘Tesco value’ or equivalent spring water which can usually be bought for pennies in large bottles, it’s transformed cleanliness hugely. Batch washing negs means I can usually get away with one 2 litre bottle per process. Happy new year!
Ahh, I mentioned doing this earlier in the comments. Must try it now! Thanks.
28 is great for street ! Love my Ricoh GRD
It is great for street. Many go for a 35 or 50.
3:58 and 4:06 love these two shots! I haven't used a wide angle for a few months, a should take it more often
I hope someone gave you boots for Christmas. Happy New Year!
28 is likely my favorite focal length. Followed by the rare 40
That is rare! My friend has a 40mm Voigtlander. Very nice.
Thanks Roger ! Happy New Year !
Thank you Stefaan!
Love that print, simplicity is king I reckon.
It is, cheers Paul!
Great music and photos Roger. 1972 is the year I graduated from Junior High School what a great year for my life and for music.
Cheers Rick.
Hello happy new year, cheers !!!!! 😊
Happy new year!
Another great YT video and a BIG 👍 s up. Bring on 2024 🎉. Happy New Year Roger
Thank you! You too!
I have always used 24mm for street photography my friend uses 21mm for street. Also, use a 300-micron filter on the water supply for washing, smear nose grease negs that are scratched it will remove them.
21mm for street! I can imagine that is awesome if you get close enough to an interesting face.
@@ShootFilmLikeaBoss Yes he is the best street photographer I know and the quality of his prints is the best.
love yuor channel, thank you from across the pond.....I personally like videos without music and much prefure natural noises and sounds. I think it makes for a much more enjoyable video to watch....My dog also thinlks its better without overbearing music....carry on!
I do love the subject separation on 28mm. I'm planning to use mine more next year. It took me a long time to "get it".. I also have a 50mm for my hasselblad, but my brain can't quite make sense of wideangle on 6x6 yet, not really sure why.
Happy New Year Roger and get some Wellies😂
Thank You! LOL
i love my 28mm pentax-m.
And a happy new year to you to.
Thank you!
Happy new year to you and your Family Roger
Happy new year Katharine. x
I love my 28mm on my OM2. This incredible lens so small and so power. This is my choice when I shot with only one lens.
I have one also for my OM20. Lovely little lens.
Very great video again. Love the part the dark room. About those chalk stains. I use Adoflo II but I wonder if a final bath in distilled water also would do the job.
I actually tried to get some de-ionised water. Couldn't find any! And distilled is hard to find here. I may try mineral water.
really like your videos as there always fun to watch thanks for all your videos in 2023 and look forward to your 2024 videos.
Happy New Year, Roger!!! Hope to do more photography this year, myself. More film, in particular. Anyway, mate, stay safe and well and the same for your family!😊😊
Thanks Carl!
Great video! Use older lenses and cameras, with plastic bags! Lovey photos!
You do you, mr. fashionable. For me wellies open up so many areas for photography. But then again, I can go into those areas without getting lost 😂
Happy '24
Great video! Love that special work with the shadows on the enlarger! Thanks for sharing and happy new year from Spain!
I love my fd 28mm 2.8
Looks a lot more journalistic
Happy new year Roger see your in 2024 😅 cheers mate
Hey Peds! Cheers.
When I printed many years ago, I'd touch up minor dust spots on prints with a miniscule paint brush and dyes made for the purpose. Are they no longer available?
Wow!!! The pictures are amazing!!! 💙 And the FP4 turns out great at 400iso. Cheers from Germany🤘🏻
man, you is a funny dude, much love, keep up that great work, mate! have a great new year!
Thanks, you too!
You could always do some cropping with the Ilford! ;-)
Good call!
Hey, 28 mm on my Q2M which I adore. Otherwise the 50mm Voigtlander Helier Classic 1,5 on my M2. Happy 2024 and please continue the good work.
Always remember my first 28mm was an Enna Ultra Lithagon for my 1961 Asahi Pentax S3 all I could afford but I got several Award Winning Prints from it ! Echo comments from others abour 2024 hope we can go on Snapping for a Long Time Mate !
Hey Pete! Happy New Year.
Bloody nice shots rodge. I love using home made d23 - I dunno what it is but d23 and fp4 is a properly magical combo. The negatives practically sparkle 😍
Mine seems to go cloudy after a day but it still delivers. I don't know why
My fave 28mm lens is my Zuiko 28mm f/3.5. It's not the fastest lens in the Zuiko range, but it's bloody sharp enough for me.
Nutter! LOL. Great fun, Roger. Suffering for your art and we appreciate you for it.
You should definitely grab and print the frame from the video where the dog is looking over your legs as you lie on the sand. A cracking image that.
Have a brilliant new year celebration with the family.
Lucky he didn't pee on me!
Brilliant.. 10/10 for effort
Thanks for all of your videos during the last year..every one a gem, inspirational and interesting. I hope that you and your family have a happy, peaceful and prosperous New Year. Look forward to seeing your work again in 2024. Best wishes.. David.
Thank you!
Man -- I don't know how many times I have had to tell women "Do not jump off groin"..........................😂😂😂😂
Great video and shots! All the best for 2024 🎉
Awesome shots and work Roger. What we don't do as photographers won't do for a shot....
Informative and a good laugh too. Top work.
Excellent video, my favourite film camera is an Olympus OM2 with a Zuiko f2.8 28mm lens, I use mostly for street photography here in Glasgow. I mainly use Ilford HP5 as my preferred film.
HP5 is solid. I like pushing FP4 to 400 for street stuff.
blimey charlie!
Looks a bit parky in blighty cobber!
nice that it came good later on......I reckon you should buy yourself a few pairs of British army lightweights (from Silvermans online or the globe underground station) They are better than wearing jeans because they do not hold water and dry readily with your body heat.
Good video as always buddy, Happy new year and all that shenanigan's
Happy New Year mate.
I've really got a soft spot for wide angle primes and therefore use them a lot. Sometimes it's even hard to choose one because I have so many of them. For the more extreme shots I take either the Pentax-M 4/20mm or the 2/24mm. For the rest I'll go for Pentax M 2.8/28 or Pentax K 2/35. The Pentax M 2.8/40 gives you some quite interesting perspectives, too...
Happy new year boss man
Happy new year
Yeah -- I look at you getting washed by the waves and I think to myself, "We're too old for this sh*t..." But at the same time, I know that I would be having a ball....
Many happy returns Roger 📷👍
Cheers Eltin
He was telling you the tide was rolling in. Even a dog knows that. You have to have the soggiest salty shoes in town.
Funny that you should mention it, I'm shooting with a 28mm Hexanon AR at the minute. Pushing some Harmon 100 to 200 and giving it three stops generally as its so overcast. Walked a couple of miles in the snow today along the river, until it decided to turn to rain, clothes still next to the radiator. Dry toasty feet in neoprene wellies though. Get some, you won't regret it.
Happy Hogmanay, when it comes. All the best for '24.
Cheers Iain.
Happy New Year Rodger. Lots of nice shots in this one, as usual.
You reminded me of Papillon standing on the cliff studying the waves.
Ha Ha... Cheers Scott.
Always hitting that thumbs up 👍 button on this channel.🙂
Happy New Year to you too 🎉
Thanks Steve.
The obvious was always going to happen to you at the shoreline, Rog. You got soaked! You’re not King Canute, who thought he could command the waves, but you are a great photography educator and a fine photographer! Kudos to you mate and all the best for 2024.
Hey Tad. Thanks! Calendar is up!
Happy New Year Roger to you and your family.
Happy new year!
Happy New Year!
🎉
I know I shouldn't mention that name with the red circle, but I love 28mm so much that a couple of weeks ago, I threw caution to the wind and got a 28mm F2 for my Leica M film and digital cameras. I already had a 28mm F2 Voigtlander Ultron, pre aspheric, but one is never enough. I also find that when I shoot with my Nikon or Canon wide zooms, a lot of the shots are around 30~32 mm of FL. So 28 is just about perfect. Once I recover from the shock of that purchase, I will look into getting a Nikon AFS 28 F1.8 prime for my Nikon cameras. I already have Nikon AIS 28 F2.8 and Canon FD 28 F2.8 for the film cameras. Have a great New Year with family and friends, Rog
Enjoy that 28mm Lensman! Happy New Year.
I bought a 24mm 2.8 for my Minolta - blown away by how wide it is. I end up getting more than I want in the shot so I'll have to learn how to use it more but winter isn't doing me any favors. No snow, but it's cold and miserable.
Nice! Get real close to objects and let the rest of the scene fall in. Weather you focus on the closest object or the background.
Another great video on your channel 👍🏻👍🏻. I’ve got a roll of FP4 which I want to try out on my fed3. No idea what would be the best weather to try the film out on. I’m used to using HP5+ and feel quite comfortable with this, but after watching a few of your videos, you’ve encouraged me to try different films. Hellllllp 😂
Go for it David. That film is a good allrounder.
Roger ... mate invest in some wellies 😂
After I bought Flektogon 20mm, I forgot that I own 28mm lens :D
Geese mate, if you are so bothered about getting your feet wet perhaps you should start wearing some rubbers! 😀Happy New Year!
A scratch would come out black, correct? So that line is something else, like a soap scum line? Anyhow, Happy New Year Roger!
It possible would have come out with a bit of nose grease maybe, but yes you are correct David. I shall have to see if I can get rid. Cheers.
Man I love your channel but I can't believe you took an FM3A that close to the sea!!
I was careful... trust me! lol
I just bought a 28mm for my nikknos looking to geting some images and waiting for the rain
The adventures of Roger and Go-Pro on the beach! Lol! Nice shots and prints as usual! I'm curious to know if you would use Pyro 510 as a general film developer or under what circumstances you would not use it. I typically do landscaping shots most of the time and have been thinking of using Pyro 510 because of the long storage ability.
I would have used the Pyro if I was purely looking for sea and sky because it gives such fine grain which is ideal for enlarging prints. In this case I knew I was going to be getting concrete and other objects so I went for the D23 which will give a pleasing grain without wasting my Pyro. Yes the Pyro does last longer stored.
Thanks Roger!@@ShootFilmLikeaBoss
Your first "Like"!
11:42 did you drop something from your pockets?
I don't think so. I had to check that time code as I have lost my glasses!
@@ShootFilmLikeaBoss It does look like you left something on the sand when you got up.
h:appy n:ew y:ear 2024 [28mm my favourite lens in 135]
For a moment it looked like that dog was gonna pee on you.
That’s what I was waiting for too. It happened to me once while I was sat down photographing in the park.
You monstrous MONSTER!!!
Did you actually put a 28 mm AF-D lens onto a beautiful FM3a instead of a fitting AIS and then even covered it with a Voigtländer cap?
Thy name shall be called along the likes of Jack the Ripper henceforth!
Beautiful images of course, but that cannot be an excuse!
Roger likes to mix it up 😜
Guilty! 😂 Now off the the Ten Bells Pub in Whitechapel.
👎Ruined by the addition of music, watchable while muted.
