The reason for repeating monotonic backgrounds might be that this whole game fits into one 1.2 megabyte floppy disk and loads everything into memory when started. Of course having been developed by only one person might be a second limiting non-technical factor. Btw this game has been made to run on 1987 hardware with 10 MHz CPU which is also mindblowing. Though compared to first model this game might require 2 megabytes of RAM which was the default for later X68000 models.

Old replay or not, fuck me sideways. I founf this game ages ago on youtube by a certain man, AdigunPolack. In an older account, of course. But to see someone like you not only break the 21 million mask and lose only one life on TLB, is kind of maddening. You didn't spam bombs either, only used them when necessary. You have more guts than I thought, excellent play.
The beta version of Big Zan’s design was even more blatantly ripped from this, yeah. The name even makes sense since the life bonus here’s called the “Zanki Bonus”, and that boss looks like a big version of the player ship here.
When I first cleared this game on second loop, I was on my last life. I was trying to see how long I could go before all my lives were gone. Beat the final boss on Loop 2 and I was relieved. But then... "Whew, second operation accomplished. Loop 3, here we go." "... Why is the music different?" "What is that thing? *WHAT THE HELL IS THAT THING!?!"* "This seems chill enough, I can dodge this for a bi-- *OH SHIT!!!"* "Oh god! Oh shit! It's relentless! No no no!" "Shit, I can't lose my last life here! I can't--!" *BOOM!!!*
Oh hey, just in case you haven't noticed but this game received an update awhile ago. It has an Impossible rank now if I'm not mistaken, maybe you should give it a try.
