I was born in the wrong time period. I love Strauss. 15 min ago i was listening to Van Halen and went to my classical. I grew up listening to my father playing all this music. He was a pianist.
MrHans818 You were born in the right time period. Nowadays you can listen to full collections of classical music of different time periods all in a single afternoon, every day.
Back then, with enough money you could afford to go a theatre and listen to music maybe once in a month. And only listen to what the orchestra was playing back then.
Note that orchestras still exist today and you’re free to go and listen to one of them in your neighbourhood.

When I was in school on a Parent Night one class sang a song that had many of these tunes. (The words were probably written especially for the program.) Thank you for bringing back memories.
