They can be used for fridges, batteries, solar panels, vehicle to caravan and so on. They come in a range of current ratings and colours. Here are some quick tips for installing an Anderson plug.

6mm auto cable doubled over, do you know which size terminals you used? 10-12, 8 or 6 AWG?
6mm Twin Core Automotive is about 10AWG ish, it's about 4.7mm². I used the terminals that came with the plugs. Generally the terminals that come with genuine Anderson plugs can take up to about 16mm² which from memory is about 6AWG. Some knock-off Andos I've seen would be lucky to fit 8mm² in. Anderson Plugs were invented by Anderson Power Products. The company dates back to 1877, founded by brothers Albert & Jonah Anderson in Boston, Massachusetts. The 2 pole power connecters were first invented in 1953 and the current design was introduced in 1973. Wow, didn't think they'd been around for that long haha and still the same design today.
