  • For this video, we hop in a very rare (at least here in the East Coast of the United States) Nissan S12! The S12 is a semi-forgotten car which is a shame. The S13 was the result of many lessons learned from this platform, and I go for a backroad cruise to appreciate this awesome Japanese Classic. Thanks for watching and Stay awesome! I bought my 86 notch from a customer when I worked at pep boys for $200 and slowly built it with parts I can find and some custom, it was the funnest car I ever owned and my brother crashed it trying to drift it. 10 years later I want to build another one! Great video

My mom has the manual shift, fastback version of this car. She stopped driving it about 15 years ago because the clutch was too stiff at age 65. My stepdad got it in perfect condition and mothballed it in the garage. She also had a Mazda Miata, 2 68' Mustangs, and a 67' MG convertible. She's almost 80, but loved her sports cars.

My best friend had two of those, hatchback and fully optioned out, with five speed manuals. The first one we totalled out when a drunk pulled out in front of us at a light which payed for the second one. They we're pretty cool cars with a stick. I would have thought it had a higher bhp than 90. And yes, I'm old. I'm 53. My friends mom had a coupe with an auto. It was a metallic orange. The interior was dark gray with orange accents.
His first car was dark blue with a blue interior and the second was white with blue interior.
During that time I was driving a '73 Maverick with a 302 and 3 speed stick. Blue with black interior.

I had a 1986 XE, it has 102hp, four wheel independent suspension and with four wheel disk brakes, it had a five speed which was supper smooth and new it had really good power on the high end, first gear was nothing but a creeper, all the life was on the high end, top speed was 120 mph. It was known to be one of the most reliable cars Nissan ever produced. It corners like it was on rails. I one I had was the NAPS-X it had 8 spark plugs. The XE also had a microprocessor that connect two aerials for radio, it would use the strongest signal one was imbedded in the back window.

My grandpa used to have one back in the 90's, he tuned it with my uncle's help, and won national rallies in my country. I am looking to buy it again since used cars in my country are a bit devalued; it was an imported USA S12 200SX, but with the original swapped to a Japanese specifications Silvia S12 engine since my uncle blew up the first one in a rally, the headgaskets were destroyed.

Hey David the generation for the S-Chassis here in the states goes as this. 1977-1979 Datsun 200sx (S10), 1980-1983 Datsun 200sx (S110) and so on. I'm actually acquiring a 1977 Datsun 200sx that's lowered and has fender flares, has an automatic 3 speed, L20B sohc inline 4. Funny thing is I featured this same car once on my Instagram Datsun page, and it's nice to see these still around I see S12 from time to time.

My father bought a brand new one in 1986 when they first came out. Back then it was like the coolest Japanese car around. It was a stick shift and it ran good. I remember one time he stepped on it in second gear and it went up to 60 mph pretty quick on second gear. I believe it had like 8 spark plugs in it. I used to wax the car like every month at first. It was a beautiful car!

I had a 5-speed 85 200SX, the car had an IRS rear suspension, it handled great. It didn't have a lot of hp, so once you got going, just keep turning and shifting.Very dependable, only problems I had were bad/cheap factory wiring and failing AC. If I could find one with a straight body, more power, good paint and AC. I'd buy it again.

Oh the memories, even they are underpowered. You had to wring this out everywhere you went just to accelerate at a brisk pace. Off the line at a stop light you had to use all of it, ALL OF IT, just to stay with traffic. Other than that it was fun to drive. It handled well. The gearbox was fine. The seats were comfy. Nice looking in its own way. It just needed more power. The Toyota 86 of the eighties.

This video made me happy being a owner of a S12 , it was a gift from my mom and I've always been a fan of box cars! , its not the 86 but its the 87 and needs a lot work, A LOT haha. Someday I will have some extra cash to fix it up nice :)

I've seen a few S12 Silvias, but all of them have been 1.8 turbo hatchbacks. I had no clue there was an S12 made in sedan configuration too.

My first car in 1997 was a 1987 200sx white with blue interior. Was a 5 speed. Super fun to drive! I want one again!! And i beg to differ. I use to bring my brothers at the back. Lol

These cars are cool. I had a 86 hatchback 5 speed with the digital dash. I really liked it a lot. I paid $600 bucks for it back in 2000. Wish I still had it.

I had one. Was shockingly 80s but so much fun! That CA20 engine sucked though. It had this really awful tape deck that was embedded in the console and you couldn't get rid of it! But the sunroof and all the electrics were mad. Very expensive car back in the day. Always wanted to replace it with the FJ20T which is a bit long in the tooth these days
