    I was just searching for a quick breakdown of a console I wasn’t familiar with, and I came across your video. As an engineer of 20 years who is familiar with most digital console platforms, I’m likely not your intended audience.
    I must say, however, that you are one of the best and most engaging teachers of digital audio that I’ve ever seen. I will absolutely use this video as a teaching tool when I help train young engineers.
    Many thanks, and please continue to teach the next generation!

    I was not happy with the tutorials that A&H provided, but I must say that YOUR tutorial just made the whole thing (which I previously found confusing) rather simple and obvious. Just the right amount of detail, demonstrations are helpful, and you don't give your English enough credit. I had zero problem understanding it, but I would add that your command of the language was better than most native English speakers, and the explanations were VERY well articulate.
    THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

      100% agree with David. I'm doing my first sound-engineer gig this Saturday and will be meeting this desk for the first time at the gig so I'm learning as much as I can beforehand. I've never used a digital desk before, only analog. Excellent tutorial, extremely helpful! On to Part 2...

    One of the best training videos ever!
    If one person is brand new to a mixing system, this is just fantastic and a great way to get into it.
    I continue to watch it - since the explanation is just great on the QU series from Allan&Heath.
    Also I like the dry method of teaching, interrupted by some little - but excellent - spiking jokes.
    (Oh and never mind the english - that is really excellent to follow!) :-)
    I for sure will look into other tutorials from you!

    Excellent video series! Looking forward to watching more. I truly enjoy your sense of humor! Going out next week for my first theatrical gig with the QU-32. 24 Sennheiser wireless mic systems with a high school group. I spent many hours researching digital mixers before settling on the A&H QU-32. I've had an analogue A&H mixer for almost 15 years and love everything about it. Just decided it was time to get in the 21st century! lol Again, thank you for an informative and light hearted series of videos. - Joel, Studio 52

      @GLBProductions  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Joel Glaser Glad the videos have been useful! Yes, the training has to be enjoyable, and it helps the students to retain the information better I find. 24 channels of wireless huh? Hope you have a good frequency scanner ;)

      +GLB Productions Well, it helps that I live in a fairly rural area, but yes, I've done my research. I've been using wireless systems for about 20 years. It also helps having new, up-to-date systems that can be finely adjusted. Helps them all work together without crosstalk and interference from digital TV and other outside frequency sources. Any idea when part 3 of your videos on the QU-32 will be available? Looking forward to viewing. And again, thank you for posting them on TH-cam.

    Your tutorials are amazing! I've seen the one with soundcraft si expression and loved its simplicity, very useful for my church. Then I found this video and I don't know what is my favorite. We have a Yamaha 01v96, still very famous here in Brazil, and we're looking for another. This integration with iPad in this new mixers are excellent for us, because the house is pretty far from the stage and we always need two people working. Anyways, your tutorials are really helpful to me to decide what mixer buy. God bless your work!

    • @GLBProductions
      @GLBProductions  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Matheus, very glad to hear the videos have been helpful! Both of these mixers are well-designed and easy to use once you learn how. I would say that which one you buy will depend on the after-sales support you receive - make sure that whoever you buy from includes training in the package, and also setting up your amps and system processor to work with the new mixer as necessary.

    It was interesting to see how impressed they were with various functions - ie the motorised faders. I don't ever remember being that captivated by the first digital board I saw and worked with. Although before I saw my first digital board I'd been working with sound for ~3 years (2 of those studding at National Tech Training - all analogue gear) so I guess I was desensitised at that point to expensive and interesting gear.

    how to connect monitors and program the digital qu16

  • @user-pu9il4nm5q

    Please, I have a question: When we are in the process of adjusting the sound and distributing the monitor for the concert, and we turn off the jazz until the concert starts, is it necessary to go back to adjusting the sound and the monitors again? Thank you very much.

    • @GLBProductions
      @GLBProductions  หลายเดือนก่อน

      It depends on how much the venue has changed - some venues sound very different empty vs. when they are full of people. You should not need to change the monitor mixes though - they should remain fairly consistent from the soundcheck.

    Hello, great training. We own QU-16 and it's used in church where recitations or speech are common. When QU-16 is turned ON, it loads Mix LR PEQ screen, where on this screen we have PEQ, GEQ, and COMP.
    On this PEQ we are cutting LF (155Hz, -7.6db), LM (893HZ, -9.4db), HM (3.67Hz, -8.8db), and HF (10.2Khz,-9.0db) frequencies. If we don't set this PEQ or bypass it, we get a lot of feedback with the 4 Bose MA12 speakers, which are installed by audio professional service where we're using 3 AKG C7 mics. But if we set this PEQ, feedback is gone!
    Is it practical to set Mix LR PEQ this way? Are we effecting vocals at the end by doing this much frequency cut off?
    Then for each mic input channel, we setup PEQ and COMP, but we're not happy with sound, Is it possible that setting Mix LR PEQ frequencies effects overall vocals?

    • @GLBProductions
      @GLBProductions  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there Medo. From the description above, you seem to be using your main LR PEQ as a system tuning tool to prevent feedback. It does seem like a lot of cut, especially since all four bands are being used. You also say that you are unhappy with the sound. In this case, I suggest getting your system installer to come back and re-tune the system in its current configuration using the EQ in the system processor as opposed to on the mixer - the MA12 speakers require an external signal processor running the Bose ControlSpace software, and your installer can use these tools to improve the sound of your system.

    I encountered one of these at a venue....
    I gave a left/right from the stereo out puts on my desk in to channel 7/8 of their A&H Qu series mixer.
    When both 7/8 on their desk were panned center, both channels came through both sides, but when 7/8 were panned L/R, only one channel could be heard, and it came from the left only of there PA
    Can you think why that would be?

    • @GLBProductions
      @GLBProductions  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It suggests that the routing is not conventional, so the send to the PA is not being derived from the main LR outputs. It could possibly be from the groups or matrix sends. You would need to trace the lines from the mixer to find out exactly what's going on.

    Great video hahaha, still pushing for my school to get digital boards T.T still using our trusty midas venice 320 and mackie onyx 32.4 xD Really feels at home with the singlish! Just wondering where do you purchase your equipment?
    Also need some advice, as you know singapore schools need to raise ITQ for anything over $3k and will take a long time, what would you advice to get the A&H Qu 32 or the Behringer X32? Also looking to upgrade our old microphones which are starting to have interference issues and static, would you recommend the Sennheiser XSW 35 series or the Audio Technica 3000 series of wireless mic systems? Yeah budget issues restricted to the $500~600 price range.

    • @GLBProductions
      @GLBProductions  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Mervin Ling Hello neighbour! I don't sell equipment, only provide training. If you need to purchase in Singapore I recommend Soundsmith Solutions: nicholas@thesoundsmith.com.sg Tell him Bruno sent ya ;)
      I strongly advise you to avoid Behringer equipment - in my experience their quality control is very poor and I have had several customers whose gear developed problems after several days or even did not work right out of the box.
      I would personally recommend the Audio Technica wireless over the Sennheisers.

    Great video! So there are only 4 mono Aux outputs? Can you use the stereo outputs as individual mono outputs as well so you have a total of 10 mono aux outputs?

    • @GLBProductions
      @GLBProductions  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's exactly right - if you need to use the stereo outputs as mono outputs you need to use the pan controls to assign sources to either the odd or even side of the output. They are really intended for musicians using in-ear-monitors.

    Could you plz explain Wht is the advantage n disadvantage of grouping channels

    • @GLBProductions
      @GLBProductions  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The advantage is that it allows you to apply processing such as EQ and compression to the entire group as opposed to one channel at a time. It also allows you to control the volume of the entire group using a single fader - this is particular important for inputs where the relative levels need to be maintained such as backing vocals or a muti-keyboard setup. The disadvantage is that you add another layer of control and adjustment which can cause its own problems, especially if the fader and mute switch are on a different layer of the console.

    How are excellent video and thank you very much for an important explanation, I have one that I occupy this table as an interface I have the daw Logic x. I have a question and I tried to balance my LR audio but even though I move the knob on the daw I do not hear changes in the audio either through headphones or through the monitors eg. If I have a track that balanced it to the left, the audio is lowered in level and even so it continues to be heard on the right, connect my headphones to the computer directly and if the balance works, you could help me. I will thank you all.

      I suggest that you consult with someone who is familiar with using logic with this particular mixer as a control surface/interface.

    Great training video. Your students reactions were hilarious. The video was both helpful and entertaining. Even though we did not end up with an A&H board. The info here is somewhat transferable. I wanted an Allen & Heath Qu-32 or SoundCraft equivalent but the budget didn't allow. I like the simple workflow of both of these boards. But a couple of things bug me. I think neither have a built in RTA. Why in the world would these companies do this? Also I'm suspicious of touchscreens and their accuracy and longevity. Though that is the future, unfortunately. Also the laft of Android support is annoying. Though there is SoundCraft 3rd party support, I believe. Thanks again for the video.
    Correction: A&H has 3rd party support for Android, not SoundCraft.

    • @GLBProductions
      @GLBProductions  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the comment Glynne! The Qu32 does have an RTA function, it's accessed through the Home screen.
      Touchscreens have got to the point where they are extremely robust and reliable - especially the pressure sensitive type used on these mixers. However if you are unlucky and drop something on them and they break the broken part of the screen becomes unusable - I have a video on this, search for 'The Achilles' Heel of Digital Mixers'. Otherwise they are as reliable as the rest of the console. What did you end up buying in the end?
