Beautiful job, Paul. The purists may be up in arms now, but I think you've made it your own and improved it while doing so. The vintage Texaco decal suits it perfectly. Sweet paint work, as always. Thanks for the great tip on scratching off the paint on the letters and door handles! After you showed that, you forgot to say "and that's another tip from your uncle Paulie"...LOL! The truck turned out great!!!
This is got to be one of the best looking Matchbox tow trucks I have ever seen... knocked it out of the park brother... a little tip if you don't want your decals to float in the water put a sponge in there you don't have to worry about them floating away and washing the adhesive off....
Keep one of this casting to make a shop truck in the future.

Spectacular as usual Paul! Thought for sure you were going Gasser with it. Still can, some bigger tires in the back, leaf springs and straight axle in front and you've got the Texaco Hooker!
What I've done when doing a wheel swap is using a longer axle. A longer axle would put the wheels closer to the outside of the wheel well. It'll work if your using wide tires with a short axle. But if your keeping narrow tires a wider axle is a good idea. Trucks looks really good. Love the Red.

I just subscribed when you said about not being able to stand BP or STUPID MOONEYES or GULF. I can't stomach anymore of all of them. Making your own is the way to go. Truck looks great.
Breathtaking! You've put new life into that truck! While I still like restoring those old cars to factory condition I see a lot of potential too in "modernizing" them too! Just as long as any given car isn't too rare of course.☺ Turned out you dropping and losing that wheel was a blessing. The emergency replacement set was MUCH better!👌
BTW, the third Paul, Paul Restorer, cuts out a plastic disk makes a hole in the middle that is wide enough for the axle nub to slip through and so uses the disk as a shield for the wheel as he grinds off the axle hub.

I'm sure you'll find the missing wheel once you discarded the remaining wheel-and-axle. Murphy never sleeps! XD

Absolutely gorgeous I literally want to do one just like this and do the same cause I love it so much lol. Unbelievable job. I've just started doing customs and have tried many different paints to get that spectra look. I've tried badger translucents, createx candy 2o, even made my own with urethane clear with paper mate ink, closest I've got to that spectra look was actually the paper mate ink but u just can't get it to look like that redline shop spectraflame it's incredible paint. But still getting use to using an airbrush was having trouble with the. 3mm nozzle just couldn't get it to flow smooth so ended up switching to a .5 setup and flows great now. But amazing job I love this car what a collection piece. Congrats

as far as decals are going, last i knew Kenny Terry was in the hospital. So it may take a while for him to get back to you (last I knew anyways and prayers go out to him). As far as your build another great one and nice spin on it with the spectra-flame.

You're absolutely correct brother Mooneyes and Gulf and the others are way overdone. Even though I totally enjoy the BP tow truck as original, your take on it is magnificent. It is absolutely gorgeous brother one hell of a job you done.

I noticed your trouble w/ techniques removing the wheels. I think it was Juan at Matchbox Ressurection who used a drilled and cut piece of blister plastic as a shield between the wheel and the spinning Dremel bit. Your Vegas cousin Paul or Czech cousin Paul, I think, used Vise-Grips in a circular motion around the head shrinking it until he cound remove the wheel over the axel. That is more time consuming than a Dremel, and you may have been up against a deadline. I also think depending upon how well the axel head formed it is possible your axel length could be different on each side. As Freud said, Sometimes a short axel is just a short axel. I'd like to see a Redlines version of a Lesney/MB BP tow wrecker, or if you're "anti-BP" a Sinclair tow wrecker? Maybe just a straight "HW Garage" truck with the vintage 60's Blisterpack art...Your basic, Red, Yellow, Orange, White, Black color scheme...with the Heavyweights' Dualie wheels in the back. Anyway...Safety and Sanitize! Have fun with YOUR toys!
