  • I recently had the pleasure of speaking with one of my SmartBody SmartMind (SBSM) alumni, Jenn Florence, to learn about her healing journey and the positive impact she's experienced by working with and healing her nervous system via the SBSM's curriculum.
    If you're seeing this interview chat when I release it, please know that enrollment to NEW SBSM members is happening February 21 through to March 6, 2022. We open up registration once a year.

    If you've missed the registration deadline, get on the waitlist so that you are notified when we open up next year (also via that link above).
    If you'd like to begin your nervous system learning and healing journey before the next live session of SmartBody SmartMind, then I suggest starting with the self-study starter course, The 21 Day Nervous System Tune-Up, which you can learn more about here: 21daytuneup.com/

    I cried when I heard her talk about how she had experienced the first time she felt her body be safe. It made me realize that I never extend that sense of safety to my own body. I am constantly feeling unsafe. I didn’t realize I can also treat my own body gently and with safety.

      @cecischaeffer2669, Jen here from Irene's Team. It's lovely to hear about your realization that you can treat your body (and yourself?) gently and with safety. Connection to self, and new ways of being with ourselves and our felt experience, can often be one of the biggest gifts of this nervous system work.

    Really enjoyed this! Im one of those who feels like i may be too far gone. Similar in nature to this story. Trauma pre-verbal followed by chronic continuing traumatic events. My body has been shut down for 14 years now. I can get the symptoms in remission for a time, but my window of tolerance is almost non-existent. Especially as life delivers its ebb and flow of unpredictability. Im so happy to hear of this dear person's recovery. Thank you for sharing!

    Wow what a watch and what a perfectly timed one too. Having been on my awakened healing path its sure taken time with unfeeling back them layers to my nervous system and feel I'm so there now, really tuning in with feeling and healing. This just gives me so much joy and so much hope in my system, which at times is so damm hard to feel safe in and enjoy, but I am getting there. Being ok with our emotions and being able to contain, integrate and regulate is such a powerful thing!! 🗝
    Thankyou for the work that you do and allowing the world, my world to see and feel it ❤

    I'm from a poor country invaded by the US, we are all traumatized after invasion, but this knoledge will heal many of us, I will have to work more than two thousands hours to regain the money I'm going to use on this course but such is the price of living. I know i will die if i continue like this, i'm like this woman. There is no money enough from dying to thriving that is pure life. I have asked family for money and we will all heal thanks to this blessed knowledge. Thanks the internet and thanks educated people like miss Irene Lyon who change the world🙏🙏🙏

      I don’t think the knowledge should be so expensive if people who need it most are usually those with less to spend and residing in countries who are less fortunate and wealthy. Hope that in the future Irene will make her actual healing content (21 day course and smart body smart mind) more accessible to everyone. You could also give Deb Dana’s lecture on The Polyvagal Theory in Therapy a listen. It’s a great lecture, 1 hour 50 min long full of valuable knowledge and practical exercises on the subject. I wish you all the best ❤️

      In fact, if Irene and her team really care about healing and educating trauma in the world she should offer you her content for free. In the right world, you should not have to pay a year’s wage to educate yourself and your community on healing wounds. @irenelyon I’m curious to hear your thoughts on this

      Hi I Ardoy, Jen here with Team Lyon. I can definitely understand how the cost of SBSM can be a large investment. I respect your commitment to your healing and to saving over time to be able to join the program. I will mention that some people have started things like "GoFundMe" campaigns to raise money too.
      I also want to make sure you're aware that the 21 Day Nervous System Tune Up can be a great place to continue the work when that's an option as the cost of the "Tune Up" ($297 USD) is applied towards the cost of SBSM if and when you sign up.
      As far as Irene's free material goes, her TH-cam channel (which includes quite a few practical exercises) and the free resources on her website are enough to start doing the work. Many people have found significant healing and change through consistently consuming and practicing this content. I'll link some of Irene's free resources so you know where to find them. I wish you much healing!

    • @IreneLyon
      @IreneLyon  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@weshendrikx9754, Jen here from Team Lyon. Please see my answer to I Ardoy below. I'll also add that in North America the reality is that professional services - including healthcare services - cost money.
      If you see a therapist for example, you'll pay anywhere from $50 if you have insurance (and many practitioners who do this work do not take insurance) to upwards of $300 for one session. It usually takes many sessions - often many years of sessions - to heal trauma. When you participate in Irene's programs, you have lifetime access.
      On a practical note, it also takes money to do participate in extensive and ongoing training (to develop the skills to offer this work), hire a team of professionals, and run a business. All that said, I totally get that this can be frustrating and disheartening. I hope you'll take advantage of all the free content that Irene offers.

      @bpassion4fashion581, Jen here from Irene's Team. It's great to hear that Jenn's story resonated with you! You mentioned that you're interested in this work. If you want to get started before SBSM runs again next year, the 21 Day Nervous System Tune Up can be a great way to do that and you can start any time (the cost is also applied to SBSM when you join). Thank you both for this wonderful enriching conversation.
    I light up of the energy that you spread.
    You discuss many topics that I recognize on my own nervous system healing journey (which just started recently with a wonderful Dutch coach who works with horses as a mirror-tool) or gave me an AHA moment.
    For example, I got touched when you, Jenn, mentioned to go slow, not to rush to try to be the 'good student' out of a trauma response.
    I recognize 'being a good student' so much. It hit me that this behavior is (or could be) a trauma response.
    I feel lucky that I came across this work. I don't believe in coincidence: I believe I created a path to come in contact with this healing work. And I am grateful that I did!
    Love from the Netherlands,

    What if orienting feels too much?

    • @IreneLyon
      @IreneLyon  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Elizabeth Read, Jen here from Team Lyon. If orienting visually feels like too much, you might see what happens if you orient using the other senses, For example, if you have a soft blanket or sweater you might notice what it feels like to notice the texture. Paying attention for a brief moment or two or with divided attention (forms of titration) can sometimes also be helpful.
      At times, we may also need to focus on growing a sense of containment and working with the stress organs. Irene has a free resource related to containment that I'll link to, she teaches the work with the stress organs in SmartBody SmartMind (you can also work with a practitioner trained in that work). I'll link to a few other related resources.
