Stitch Wildcard: Amazing techniques you've never heard Gene Shinozaki Wildcard: Most musicality in a beatbox wildcard to date both definitely worth the time for vocal analysis
By the way I hope beatbox fans share this around the community. It would be great to see more vocal coach reactions to beatboxing both to see the innovative singing techniques in beatboxing get acknowledged and for beatboxers who want to use singing in their routines to get more expert feedback.
@@asinoralte2881 Lol I've actually been trying recently, since she's started taking beatbox lessons and she actually does "polyphonic voice" in one of her old videos so I think she'd do some great analysis. I don't know how much she's seen from the competitive beatboxing scene, but I suggested some recently and she responded that it sounded interesting and she would consider it. So I guess we'll wait and see.
Thanks for reacting to and analyzing more beatboxing, it’s really interesting to hear your perspective. Some of the other wildcard winners focus more on complex percussion patterns, but for musical routines that incorporate lots of singing techniques check out Gene, Stitch and Den. It was really nice to see more musical routines do so well this year.
I love how non beatboxer react and analyze beatbox video, especially musician. Because they always analyze about the structure, tempo, the composition, emotion, etc with they music knowledge and really detail. Love it ❤
Its actually three registers, he goes "o-o-o" if that makes any sense, he goes from throat bass (which you called a "growl") to chest voice to falsetto, not just from throat bass to falsetto like you suggested. Also, 4:44 that " hOH" sound is actually a whistle, not a vocal sound. Its called the "hollow whistle" and he adds it a couple times in the routine to showcase that he can just layer more and more sounds into that repeating arpegio.
Its good to see experienced people give their honest thoughts on this art as there are some "haters" that claim that beatboxing isnt music. But anyways, youre gonna go down a rabbit hole once you get into this art more :) Do Gene - Metamorphosis , Stitch - Feels like nothing lots of singing in these two ;)
This is an excellent reaction! Being a vocal coach, you understand and fully enjoy what beatboxers are doing. This stuff usually flies over the average reaction channels' head. For that I applause you! Great job!
3:04 i know you're analysing this wildcard as a vocal coach, but me as a beatboxer, i describe it as a big control of throat bass and his voice, and a little synth in the end, beatboxers would understand, and it's insane and it needs a really high level experience to do that👌 4:50 it's a whistle, it sounds deep cuz it needs throat opening, or hollowing as beatboxers call it.
enjoy your nerdy yet educated take on this mate, and thats a compliment! looks like ur going down the rabbit hole, check out stitch's wildcard, not nearly as technical but equally mindboggling!! keep it up!!
Great to see this analyzed from a vocal coach! The "growl" you mentioned is called throat bass / throat singing (you might know it from Mongolian or Irish singing for example). It's a technique pretty much very pro beatboxer has in their arsenal, and it's incredibly versatile how it can be used. River's brilliant pattern shows that once more. 🎼
@@vanishdsoul You're using XD in 2021? You old and lane fart.mHe's literally learnt no new sounds in years. He just changed the composition. Like Codfish, who's way to overrated. Yes his inward bass verities are insane, I can't and will not deny that!?!? But beatboxing wt
The thing that shocked me the most (as a person who knows close to nothing about music theory etc) is the 80s video game sound thingy. (at around 1 minute into River's video)
To add to reactions in the beatbox realm (if not already mentioned, I see Stitch and Gene) is Den from Canada. There his wildcard which sadly for some reason did not make the cut (...although Pepouni said out loud he's in lol) and also his rendition of "Searching" ....you wont be disappointed. Might need to do an "inception" reaction: reaction of a reaction reacting to a reaction.
The “whistle sound” is something I’ve been learning for a while it’s called a “throat whistle” you extend your vocal cords while sucking in which will make that whistle.
Links to the popular recommendations: Gene: th-cam.com/video/0rBG9BAiiC4/w-d-xo.html Stitch: th-cam.com/video/UilVHqQxe8Q/w-d-xo.html Den: th-cam.com/video/kVaiWk7H7n0/w-d-xo.html Makes it easier.
As probably most people will, i also recommend you stitch's wildcard and if you are interested in some more polyphonic voice techniques then i highly recommend you to watch two h's gbb 2020 wildcard where he uses a lot of those techniques and utilizes very complex patterns and ways with his voice.
That subharmonic growl is called throat bass here in the beatbox world! You do it by using your vocal folds to activate your false folds and using them together!
enel is actually the only beatboxer that i know of who uses subharmonics, some of the most popular bass techniques used by beatboxers are liprolls, throat singing, and inward vocal growl or inward bass.
Wow ! Amazing video , I really loved it 💕 Also when you pause to comment , before you continue back the video 5 seconds so you won't miss a drop. Keep going heart ❤️
Very nice commentary so far! Highly recommended Gene - Metamorphosis as well as Den - Feel it Still. Many people recommended Stitch as well. A lot of people doing things you've probably never heard before. Enjoy!!!
Watch the tutorial of Indicator of the alien bass he does, could really be interresting, because he is just doing multiple vocal fries and layers them to get a much deeper tone than normally possible
The fact that River RIVERsed the end made me jump off my chair. Fitting name has flow like a river and he reversed the last part. Idk why but I love that little details. *inward hollow whistle* I need a breakaerb a deen I *outward hollow whistle* Idk what you call the distorted sound but he even reversed that and that just makes this knock way more. Just listen to the end (4:50) That little detail is 🥴 🔥
If you want to see an absolutely astonishing vocal technique, check out "Indicator - I'm an Alien", his bass technique (as he explains in a tutorial video) is a combination of two simultaneous subatomic notes which create a third and hearing for the first time is mind blowing
plz analyse stich's wildcard. he has great vocal techniques
Don't forget Gene master musicality IMO
@@MuhammadFhlvi of course man
🙏🙏🙏
Yesssss
He HAS to see stitch’s and genes wildcards
Stitch Wildcard: Amazing techniques you've never heard
Gene Shinozaki Wildcard: Most musicality in a beatbox wildcard to date
both definitely worth the time for vocal analysis
Yep, those are the two you should definitely react to Ken.
Yeeees!!!!

A few have but i feel like they pick the worst one usualy
I agree. Maybe aim for The Charismatic Voice lol

Please analye Gene's Wildcard. He's a professional musician and a vocal artist.

Perfect explanation
Yeah he wasn’t “keeping distortion” the whole time, as Ken suggested.
Is that throat bass or chest bass?
@@edenbright2883 Throat bass
Stitch wildcard or Gene wildcard.....These are the best
Not really lol
@@KataroQuick in terms of musicality it is
@@KataroQuick for a vocal coach I would say so

React to stitch 2021 wildcard, he has very good vocal techs. Gene Shinozaki too, its another great beatboxer.
Ken, you just make me happy. You're speaking voice and reactions are just so great!

Welcome to the wonderful world of modern beatbox my friend esh
I hope more vocal coaches get into this scene and do reactions, loved your analysis!!!
this was a great reaction/commentary ^^ thanks
you could also react to Gene GBB wildcard 2021 ... his vocal techniques are out of this world.
yeeeeees
Great video. Amazing to see a reaction from someone who doesn't beatbox, but understands the vocal procedure. Hope you will do more.
Pleeaaaseeee react to Den's wildcard, its just fabulous
Great to see this analyzed from a vocal coach!

4:46 what he did is called a hollow whistle, you would hollow out your throat and blow which makes a hollow whistle
Love that youre doing this!
Hey Ken today they released him performing this at gbb, and it was wonderful. Just find River solo elimination at gbb.
Nice to see vocal analysis from River and Show go aswell
I would be interested to see you react to Vocodah. Could not be your taste, but he is really mindblowing for me.

React to gene “metamorphosis” it is a beatbox masterpiece to almost every person who listens to it. You will love it
"beguiling" : charming or enchanting, often in a deceptive way. Today I learned
If you like that vocal transition between the lower growls and his falsetto you should check out Den's wildcard too its incredible!
Just wanted to say River' won the wildcard competition with that routine.
Welcome to the community. Ima give u a sub. I see you continuing w these
The thing that shocked me the most (as a person who knows close to nothing about music theory etc) is the 80s video game sound thingy. (at around 1 minute into River's video)
Fuckin love it that beatboxing and vocal coach/singer reacts gets a cross-over.
Stitch is a must.
I think he is my favourite reactor to beatbox
There is also the GBB 2021 Wildcard by Den in which he is using a lot of different bass techniques using his voice.
River will win the GBB this year!!!

MORE BEATBOX!
Great reaction!!
