  • Come with us to West Covina to try the famous Tony's Barbeque and Bibingkinitan! It's been a while since we had Filipino food, and Tony's did not disappoint. The grilled meat sticks, chicken inasal, bibingka and halo-halo were all delicious!! Making the drive out to Tony's was DEFINITELY worth it for the chance to try some incredible and authentic Filipino foods. CHEERS to that!!!

People who haven't tasted Filipino BBQ on sticks yet, literally have unfinished business while on earth. There's a reason why at Filipino gatherings, Lumpiang shanghai and BBQ on sticks are the first to disappear way before the eating officially begins. It's always a battle.

Chicken inasal combine the soy sauce and lemon and chillies, then just deep the chicken into the mix sauce. Yes you're right that Halo Halo is more authentic than with the jellies on it.

For chicken inasal, you have to mix the sauce with the lemon and the fresh chilis( you have to chop them)...to get the full experience..

That sides, the papaya ones, we call that atsara, it’s pickled papaya and usually side to chicken inasal, I’m from Bacolod, Philippines where the chicken inasal is originated, then you have the sauce, it’s supposed to be a mix of soy sauce, vinegar, chili, and since there are no calamansi (little limes mainly found in the Philippines) they might have replaced it with a slice of lemon, you dip a piece of chicken in it
The bibingka is made of rice flour and coconut as just some of the ingredients, I can assume the had salted egg in it, as some just add cheese and they steam it, also fun fact they are served outside the churches during the 9 morning masses before Christmas called “simbang gabi”, they are pretty good with coffee or hot chocolate

Barbecued shrimp? Uh. No. I don’t believe I’ve ever experienced that in any region in all my travels in the Philippines. Must be exclusively for Fil-Ams there.

You put the lemon on the soy sauce and chili. Thats how filipino make their dipping sauce. You should dip the chicken not pour the soy sauce on the chicken.

$15 for two leg quarters, rice, sauce and a side of I remember correctly. LA is expensive, but this food was worth it and living here does have its perks 😁

@@WestCoastersokay, two leg quarters sounds somewhat more reasonable.
