    15:40 Looks to be a type of 1765 Spanish Reale. They are listed in the front of the Red Book. America used the 8 Reale coin as it's first silver dollar in the mid to late 1700's. Then again those Spanish reales were used and recognized worldwide.

      Awesome! I think you're right Joe - and I've heard about foreign coins being used as legal tender for their metal content - how cool is that? Thanks for your informative comment!

    The 1907 Silver Philippine Peso isn't so much valuable as interesting. The date is not at all rare, but that ugly toning you note is actually the result of being at the bottom of the sea. During World War II a great deal of Philippine silver was thrown into the sea to keep it from the Japanese who had taken over. Such "sea salvage" coins are frequently cleaned which seriously ruins their detail, making them merely look very worn. Finding one with UNC details but not cleaned is actually quite unusual which makes that coin historically very interesting.

      So glad you're enjoying Michael. I personally love doing the world coins, and while it isn't the best for getting lots of views, they're some of the most fun to produce (along with Coin Trivia, which gets almost no views unfortunately).

    The heart shaped Australian coin I believe is a love token, possibly even done by a soldier in the war. It's cool as much as it pains me to see a florin cut up like that.

    Pretty sweet hunt. That ended up being a lot of silver. A few of the coins you thought were British were Australian (the kangaroo is a dead giveaway :-) ).

    12:33 On the German 50 Pfennig coin from 1920 it says "Sich regen bringt Segen - rain brings blessings". It was emitted after the First World War and was intended to inform the population that hard work can achieve prosperity. Due to the hyperinflation that started shortly after the issuing, the coin lost value very quickly, which shows a certain irony of the saying. And the mint mark (J) says, that the coin was produced in Hamburg.

    • @TreasureTownCoins
      @TreasureTownCoins  4 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @derravensberger9395
      @derravensberger9395 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TreasureTownCoins To give you an impression of the devaluation of this coin, look at that. The coin was minted between 1919 and 1922 - after the great inflation in November 1923 you needed 2 trillion of these coins to get one new Renten(Reichs-)mark.

    #0:59 Japan 5 Sen looks to be zinc or discolored bronze. The date is the year of the Emperor's reign (in Japanese writing). (Japan only recently started using "Western/Christian" dating.) A World Coin catalog usually has several foreign languages numbers listed in the front of the book. #1:48 I would keep the "Love Token" (made from an Australian Florian (@ Shillings) coin. #2:00 Cupro-Nickel Canadian "Quarter." The Canadian Dollar is worth (about) 75 -80 Cents US Dollar. # 3:41 "XX" is Roman numerals for "20." #5:51 USA/Philippines Peso. #6:41 Canadian silver coins (5 Cents prior to 1920) were .925 silver , then .800 fine), all other denominations (10 Cents -$1) started at .925 fine, then reduced to .800 fine ($1 coins first minted in the 1930s) until 1967, when reduced again to .500 fine. In 1968, the denominations (10 Cents -$1) were cupro-nickel.
