Also, the 8 real wasn't called a dollar until after the US started making dollars in 1792. Since 8 reales equalled a dollar, it got called the Spanish dollar.

Thank you. We have found several different Reales. Most are with l either a Pillars and Globes or the Bust style. We've found 1/2, 1, 2, and even an 8 Reale. The 8 Reale is what prompted us to make this video.
Great video and excellent history lesson .. I got here investigating why 371.25 grains of silver constituted a silver dollar . Seems sad in a way with fiat currencies robbing the world of resources, ( not that empires didn’t do that ) though one day soon we will probably look upon paper dollars as history too .
