I've seen many reviews of this TV , but not one has focused on the art mode as much as you do, that's what people want to know about this TV, thank you for doing that
Hi Erin. AWESOME review and great work. I just had a question which is REALLY important to me. I plan to buy this tv for my home photography studio and would like to get your opinion on how the photos look when projecting them onto this TV whether it is via your Samsung phone or a USB plugged in. When you look at the photo onto a laptop screen or your phone vs the Samsung frame, do the photos come close in terms of colors, exposure etc? I have a Samsung Q60 (one of the first one which i believe was only HDR x4) and I struggle to play photos as they look over exposed. I did try to play with the settings to reduce the brightness but then you start to lose details. Just curious to see how good the new improved processor and panels are. Thank you!
I remember seeing your previous video. I bought the previous version which is above our gas fireplace. The only reason I bought it was it looks beautiful when not in use and it’s not bulky on the wall. Getting those magnetic frames really sets it off. More manufacturers should design TVs this way. Great review. 👍
Amazing review, and exactly what I was after. You just cut to the chase and told us what we wanted to hear about this TV. Thanks for the great context and well thought out video. Keep up the good work.
Excellent review, thank you. I'm watching it 2/18/22. Has Samsung put out a newer model since you produced this video? Have they made the app less quirky? I'm of course interested in this TV only for the art mode so if the app prevents from uploading personal photos, it kinda makes no sense to spend the money. I too have iPhone and MacBook Pro.
Excellent video! I do have a question that wasn't covered in your Art review. I have 2 frame tv's and I bought a picture for my living room tv. How can I get the same picture on my bedroom tv? I've tried everything. I'm considering the annual art subscription but I want to make sure that I can use it on both tv's.
Good question. I’m not actually sure if the art subscription is per Television or per account. That would be a good question for Samsung and I would be interested in hearing the answer… In theory if you are logged into your Samsung account you should be able to access all the same content. But if that’s not the case do tell…
Really glad I found this review. I just got a 43” for Xmas and I’m already looking to upgrade to the 50” in my living room and moving the 43” to my bedroom. It’s absolutely beautiful
Hi from Scotland Erin! Thanks for the review, can you tell me if there’s been an improvement on your iPhone app crashing when using the TV? Also, have Samsung allowed music to play when in art mode? Thanks!
Hello Bobby and thanks for watching. Yes, the app now seems to be functioning much better now and I was able to upload my own photo content to the TV finally. However I have still not seen the ability to play music while in art mode arrive.
I just bought a 55" 2021 Frame. The Smartthings app works well for me, but I'm using my trusty Samsung Galaxy S9. The experience of being 'buggy' may just be added to the long list of things Apple doesn't play well with😉. Thanks for this video. It really helped me with my purchasing decision 👏👏
great review! I share your pain with the smart things app. did you compare the samsung sound bar with the sonos sound bar? thanks again. I'm a subscriber now thru this review
Hello Erin! I've just bought a 65 inch Samsung Frame Tv and I would like to know how you managed to hide the hanging cable, which I understand is clear. I heard you say in the video that you hid it in the wall? How did you pull that off?
Hi Erin, thanks for the helpful review! Just wanted to confirm…does the tv connect wirelessly to the connection box or is there a physical connection required?
Erin, great video! Do you know if there is a way to add more 3-D looking digital mats and frames that I can add to my photos.? LG’s Gallery has the best looking 3-D frames I’ve ever seen, but you have to rotate them every 15 seconds, so it definitely doesn’t feel like real art. Thanks for your advice!
I have 55in 2018 model and I’ve loved it since. I got a smaller 32in 2019 because the photos looked amazing and everyone that came over my place was amazed at how it looked like a walls art. Great review and now I’m struggling with wanting the new 2021 model 🥺
The problem is with IOS iPhone. With Android is perfect. I use Bluetooth conection to play direct on TV, DEEZER app from TV, Smart Things app to use the cellphone as remote control or just mirrowing the smartphone on TV.
You sold me on the Frame TV. My wife hates the way sound bars look (on a mantle under the TV) especially now that we will be getting the Samsung Frame TV. So what other sound options do we have. We have walls we could put speakers in or a new ceiling going in that we could hide speakers in but don't know which ones to get. Any suggestions? Do you already have a TH-cam video on this? Again, great job.
Good review, thanks. Any luck getting the app to work with your iPhone? I cannot get it to work with mine. I am able to use Ambient Mode but the iPhone does not recognize Art Mode which is a big disappointment. I've been in contact with both Samsung and the Smart Things App but no resolution to the problem. It's very disappointing and I may return the TV.
Why? Basically Apple deliberately caps Samsung software so you stay within your iOs prision.. And instead of throwing the phone away you return one of the best panels on the market? Just for your consideration Samsung intelligent panels have worked perfectly Android since 2012.
What about the gaming performance ?? HDMI 4 is compatible for PS5, On paper the frame has 120HZ refresh rate along with VRR, any information about this ??

Hi, thanks for the great review! Do you know if its possible to use this new art mode and his arts on the old model (2020)? And the multi view, works on the 2020 model also? Thanks!
Hi Nicholas, I'd say overall image quality was about the same... but I'm trying to remember back 4-5 years ago. It's certainly outstanding on the 2021 model.
@@ErinLawrenceTV Thanks for this great review. I'm on the fence about 2021 vs 2022 model because of the matte version - would you say that the 2021 model has less glare than most other TVs, or is it just the art features that set it apart?
Haven't read all the comments so apologies if this is a repeat... regarding art/ambient mode and your own music, bluetooth connect your phone to the soundbar, not the TV. I don't have a frame but similar 2021 Samsung (with Ambient mode) - this works fine (and both can be controlled independently by Alexa) [btw Smartthings works fine on Android]
I ordered the 75in thru amzn and got it delivered today. Amzn comes with free mounting service right now so I decided to wait and let a pro mount it. Unfotunately, earliest is scheduled for next week. I live alone. I had the delivery guys put it on top of the console table and I was able to unbox and add the feet on by myself. I am tempted to mount it myself as well, but I will wait.
Hi there, I have got 2020 FRAME 65". I really enjoy the Art Mode and design of the TV. I uploaded my own artworks and photos and they look georgeus on the big screen. I was afraid of the minimalistic remote control in the beginning but is works great. I have been also suffering from Samsung SmartThings app issues on iPhone and iPad. Samsung is really slow in issuing software updates so it is hard to say when they will be able to fix the bugs...
Nice review, quite thorough. Extra things that would have been good to see: would be good to cover the options for showing images at intervals, also sample gaming, use of menus for speed & ease of use. Art mode seems fun but very restrictive! The Smart Things App crashing so much is inexcusable - hope Samsung are watching and fix that soon. It's also a confusing interface; not very user-friendly at all. More options, reliability and ease of use please Samsung!
I purchased this for our new home. Now I just have to wait for the home to be built so I can try it out! 😄 I can't wait! (I bought 2 years warranty so if there are issues when we get it setup we're covered)
Have you checked the settings? Haven’t somehow reverted back to factory after an internal firmware update? That happened to me once, and I just had to toggle the motion detection settings.
Does the art work really look realistic? I've seen earlier models in stores and art mode still looked like a TV displaying it but maybe this 2021 version is better.
I have the 2019. I use my own art, and I’ve had dozens of people stand right under it and not know it’s a tv until we tell them. So far no one as known. All are shocked.
If you connect your phone to your external speaker directly via Bluetooth (not through the frame) you should be able to have art mode and music at the same time.
I think it works very well in low light. I always do recommend an additional sound bar with a TV like this. It is nearly impossible to install a good quality internal speaker in some thing this thing. I really like this TV with the Sonos Beam Sound Bar.
Great question. When it is fully dark in the room, the light from the screen when in art mode is very subtle; it tries to match up with the ambient light level in the room so that it is never too glaring. Of course you can shut the screen completely off as well.
I’m really struggling with this decision. The frame is 1700, the LG C1 is 1700. The LG is objectively better, so now I’m trying to decide if I’m willing to spend the same amount for a TV that isn’t technically as good, but looks so much better
Tough call… I can say for certain that I am really loving the frame TV though. In hindsight I might have chosen a slightly larger model, but I really think it’s fantastic.
I just got my TV. I looked it up online and found that if you go through settings and connect the tv to Bluetooth you can play music and have the tv in art mode. Anytime I did it with the Home Screen pull down menu, it did not work.
I've sent a link to a friend who just bought the 2021 Frame as he is interested (as I was) in displaying our own art. I was never really able to get the app to work on my iOS devices but you can put your images on a USB stick and load them that way. You do need to find out the size for your TV (the images are quite large to get all the mat options). And I have the 2020 version, where there is also ambient mode. It may not be available on the first one you reviewed but it was in subsequent models.
That's a really good point. I didn't think of that. I think this TV is for the type of person who mounts their TV over the fireplace. But even if it's at the ideal TV viewing height, I think it will look better that most TVs.
If you go into your Bluetooth on your phone you should see your Frame as a connectable device. Connect to it and you should be able to listen to music in art or ambient modes. I’m doing it now 🙂
Hi Erin, I am getting a 55" unit soon, and got offered a pwp of HW-A450 at 93CAD, which is an entry level sound bar. Do you think it is necessary, or should I top up for something better?
Hi Erin, I have a 2021 43inch frame tv. I’d like to purchase a clip on bezel frame but am not sure how the clip on frame would fit over the sensor located on the bottom right of the tv. And if the frame covers the sensor button would that stop the sensor from working properly? I can’t find seem to find any information on this. Cheers, JT
so did you run a HDMI pass through with a plate to the One Connect box so if you wanted to hook up like a playstation or something that requires HDMI you can use them?
That’s one of the free options I think. So with that said, you get a free trial subscription before you have to start paying for it, so I guess I’ll find out in another month.
4:38 There is a coating? I thought that was a new special feature for 2022... I'll be pretty happy if there is a coating - I ordered the 2021 at irresistable runout model prices.
@@ErinLawrenceTV I'd also love to see a review of the A90J. Specifically, Sony has a new ambient light and color sensor in it that adjusts the TVs contrast, color, and brightness automatically. I'd love to see if it's possible to mimic the Samsung Frame look using that setting, but with the built-in Ambient Mode on Google TV (the software Sony ships with). Any way you could check this? Would be an awesome thing to check as no other reviews do!
Hi Erin. Thanks for the review. Can the 2021 model rotate different images (like a slideshow) in Art Mode ? I am planning to upload lots of personal photos to be displayed in Art Mode but I like the TV to rotate and show all my images like a slideshow every 5/10/15 min (in Art Mode) ?
It does have that option with the standard free images. You mark images as favorites and it creates a Collection. When you go into your Collection you can make the slideshow and adjust the timing (icons are at the bottom of the screen). I'm not positive, but would assume you can do that with ones you upload as well.
Hi, is the corner gap of the frames something that can be adjusted? On your video it looks quite bad. I would return a painting frame if it was assembled like that.
@@ErinLawrenceTV awesome! I was considering buying that TV and then I saw the misalignment and thought ouch! Now it's back on again. Going to shops to see what it looks like in reality.
I think buying a bezel with the TV is cheaper than buying them separately. I ended up getting the teak, but I may end up spray painting it something else. I'd recommend the white one.
The thing that turns me off from this TV is that you don’t get a frame like bezel that comes with the TV. That is an option of $150 for different colour or textured frames. In my view this thing does not look like a piece of art with the black bezel. You are already paying extra to get this TV I think about $500 more than the exact same qled Samsung version so the least they could do is include one.
I've seen many reviews of this TV , but not one has focused on the art mode as much as you do, that's what people want to know about this TV, thank you for doing that

Do you know you can expand your art collection by playing screensavers on TH-cam? I have created a few and hope you enjoy them haha! 😁
I also have a Frame Tv and Sonos combo. When I want to listen to music while the TV is in art mode I just use the Sonos app :) Thx for good review.

Thank you!
I've learned the most from your reviews =)
I'm so happy to hear that, thank you!

Hi Erin, I am getting a 55" unit soon, and got offered a pwp of HW-A450 at 93CAD, which is an entry level sound bar. Do you think it is necessary, or should I top up for something better?
I think any sound bar is going to be great and that sounds like a serious deal, but I've not tried it myself.
Do you have to have the box in order to use the tv?
Hi Erin, I have a 2021 43inch frame tv. I’d like to purchase a clip on bezel frame but am not sure how the clip on frame would fit over the sensor located on the bottom right of the tv. And if the frame covers the sensor button would that stop the sensor from working properly? I can’t find seem to find any information on this. Cheers, JT
Great question. As long as you are getting your clip on frame from Samsung, it accommodates all the necessary sensors.
@@ErinLawrenceTV thanks so much for the reply.
so did you run a HDMI pass through with a plate to the One Connect box so if you wanted to hook up like a playstation or something that requires HDMI you can use them?
You just connect the PlayStation to the One Connect box using the box’s HDMI port.
That ambient mode example at the 8:00 mark is really cool! Is that a free feature, or part of the subscription?
That’s one of the free options I think. So with that said, you get a free trial subscription before you have to start paying for it, so I guess I’ll find out in another month.
Really appreciate this review, well presented and with a lovely tone compared to US reviews (coming from a UK viewer)
4:38 There is a coating? I thought that was a new special feature for 2022...
I'll be pretty happy if there is a coating - I ordered the 2021 at irresistable runout model prices.
Can I mount it on the wall without making that big hole for the wire? I would not mind the wire hanging down but can I even do this?
The OneConnect cable which comes with the TV is _NOT_ in-wall rated. You must buy the $200 in-wall cable or run it through a conduit.
True.
Does anyone know, if I created a slide show in PowerPoint, can the tv display it? PDF format?
Great review
Makes me want to buy the frame myself
Samsung is know for very good quality 🤘
That's great!
What is the name of your white sound bar? Is that wireless? Thanks!
That is a Sonos Beam sound bar. Yes it is wireless, and I love it.
@@ErinLawrenceTV Great! The more I learn about it, the more I want it. Thanks for your time. I love your videos. You do an excellent job! 🙂⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Erin, I sure would like you to do a review on the Sony A90J 55 inch OLED TV
Oooohhhhhh. Me too. I’ll see if I can get my hands on it…
@@ErinLawrenceTV I'd also love to see a review of the A90J.
Great review, finally someone talks in detail about the photo frame features, nice work!
Thanks so much!
I’ve been hoping for a custom playlist update but nothing so far
It does have that option with the standard free images. You mark images as favorites and it creates a Collection. When you go into your Collection you can make the slideshow and adjust the timing (icons are at the bottom of the screen). I'm not positive, but would assume you can do that with ones you upload as well.
Can you get into settings for the art and gallery modes.
Maybe other settings etc as well.
Hi Archie, good question. I’ll look at doing a future video on that. What kinds of details do you want to know?
Hi, is the corner gap of the frames something that can be adjusted? On your video it looks quite bad. I would return a painting frame if it was assembled like that.
Yes, I was putting them on and taking them off for my video. When put on carefully, they line up perfectly.
The app works much better for Samsung because it's built in so I'd recommend that for Samsung users specifically
What are some comparable TVs like the picture frame TV?
AWESOME review, Erin! Thank you :)
Thanks very much Robert.
Hi! What is that live water wallpaper on the TV at 8:31?
They look great but only used mine for a couple of weeks before turning it off. Just couldn't see the point of burning electricity.
Did you notice a jump on your bill? (You can also set it to only come on at certain times, and automatically turn off too)
Good review - I wanted to know a lot of this info.
Thank you so much for the kind words. I appreciate it. Thank you for watching.
This is definitely my next television
Can the tv turn while on the no soace wall bracket?
What is the size of the frame you featured?
This is the 55 inch model
The thing that turns me off from this TV is that you don’t get a frame like bezel that comes with the TV. That is an option of $150 for different colour or textured frames. In my view this thing does not look like a piece of art with the black bezel. You are already paying extra to get this TV I think about $500 more than the exact same qled Samsung version so the least they could do is include one.
Good point.
Has anybody tried to mount this on a shiplap wall? I'd love to get this set, but not sure how the look would be
What about powerconsumption? With artmode I suppose it uses quite a bit of energy..
does it come with a bottle of Blantons?
HA! Sharp eye there!
I saw that too! I was reading through the comments to see if anyone else noticed before i commented.
Are there free art works to use or for everything is paid ?
There are lots of free artworks
Is shocking when the way of mounting only hook on (literally like photo frame). Yet I doubt how stable it hanging there...
Seems okay, but yeah, I was skeptical too.
Thanks Erin for the review.
My pleasure!
