  • What does the world think when they look at the church? How would they define what they see? Are we open to even hearing their honest critique?

31:25 "...running from the law..." I don't think it works that way - at least not in my observation. It's more likely the church will turn them over *to* the law.

This is a beautiful thought. It’s also, not completely accurate. Yes, this is the will of God. It’s what His heart wants. But He knows it doesn’t go that way. Revelations tell us that a great deal of people have chose evil. There’s going to be those people who are lost. Forever.
It’s so much easier to forgive after you’ve had time to heal But if the Romans are steadily raping, stealing, oppressing… you’re a peacemaker as in you let vengeance be God’s. For He declared it is His. Don’t become like them, the wicked who are hurting other people. Try to be a peace with all men. But God isn’t expecting you to be at peace while you’re being terrorized.
God gives the grace to handle so many things. Violence? It needs to be stopped. Period.
We can forgive those that hurt us. But it’s not likely to happen while they’re still doing it.
And No, there’s going to be people that you won’t be able to forgive. And Jesus Himself told them what to do when that happened. Leave them in their evil. It’ll be worse for them than it was in the day of Sodom & Gomorrah.
No one is getting away with anything. That’s the justice of God. He’s telling you to forgive your enemies for your sake. Not theirs. He knows what un-forgiveness does to you. It changes you. But those you can’t forgive, you have nothing to do with them. Nothing. It’s peacemaking when you leave them to their darkness. As they want to be. That is the very advice Jesus gives His disciples. Leave them to it. It’s stated again when it’s written let the wicked be wicked..
You can’t change anyone. No one. No matter how much you love them. God calls the ones He calls. And if He didn’t call them? That’s bc He knows them. Jesus understood this when He kept saying let those who have ears TO Hear, Hear.
You can’t one verse & build everything around it. Jesus said you shall live by EVERY Word that proceedeth out of the Word of God. This is why we have different theological views & beliefs. Cherry picking. It’s not biblical. And He knew people would do that. I believe we make enemies out of people fairly quickly at the slightest offense. This is what I feel Jesus was saying too. We call people “enemies” if they’ve wronged us once. I also believe He wants us to be peacemakers so that we don’t turn into the ones who hurt us. It’s why we have to leave vengeance to God. Trusting Him. He’s the only one Who can judge most accurately & He’s the only One Who can do it justly & it doesn’t change Who He is. If you’ve ever thought of exacting vengeance on an enemy then you know very well those thoughts aren’t you. Even as you think them, it’s causing a feeling that’s foreign to you. You notice right away. It’s when you keep giving into it over & over that it becomes apart of who you are.
These are some of the reasons behind what Jesus says I believe. He knows what it does. What the eventual result is. Keep all the words that’s came from God. One will verify the other. And take notice that it’s covenant vs. conflict. It’s a different thing all together when someone is committing violence against you. Do not stay in that relationship. Get the violence stopped. Then, make peace. And peace can be leaving them to God. Jesus did anything but make peace everywhere He went. He very much called the religious leaders out of the day.
Who were seeking to kill Him without cause. Justice is never separate from God. Justice & Righteousness at the foundation of this throne. Let me say, justice doesn’t get eliminated. It can’t. But it’s handled “differently” than the ppl of the world handle it. It STILL gets addressed. It Still gets dealt with. There’s still justice, consequences, & even vengeance. It comes from God though.
You can’t have vengeance & peace at the same time. Bc you can’t be vengeful & have peace.
But… it doesn’t mean that it doesn’t happen. All people who are wicked, & brutal… they’re destined for judgement. You can’t be a peacemaker in this world without knowing all these precepts & the totality of His Word.
It caused immediate grief & resistance in my spirit. I know that what Ty is talking about is a sliver of a whole truth.
I don’t think it’s possible to do with certain types of “wrongs” unless you know that you can trust the One who sits on a throne of justice & righteousness. That it doesn’t take those things away bc you’re making peace. On the contrary, It’ll more speedily bring it about.
Now, I know Ty approached this subject in more detail of when it came to violence against you. He knows there’s something different that takes place when the act is violent.
When it is, you’re going to need the whole of God’s Word. He said to love our enemies. Has anyone looked up what kind of love that is. It’s not what you think it is. The English word for love is supposed to encompass all the 5 different words for love in its original language.
But it doesn’t. It gives you the broadest scope for all love. And only by the context can you differentiate what’s being said. Not so with the the original languages of the bible that the authors used. I believe there’s a good reason it’s distinctly different words.
I want to add, I thought there was nothing i couldn’t forgive. Truly believed that bc of the things i had forgiven that most people don’t or won’t that there wasn’t anything i couldn’t. Then, real evil against me & my family happens. Betrayals, forgiven. Easily too. It wasn’t until the violence that i realized there’s no way i can do it on my own. I couldn’t forgive if I didn’t know God was going to ensure justice one way or the other. He does. All throughout the scriptures we see how God orchestrated justice & vengeance. He’s too good not to.
With that knowledge & revelation of the character of God, you can trust Him literally with your pain And relinquish vengeance.
I don’t think it’s wise to put Jesus, or God into the little peacemaker box. You’re right, He does give peace. Peace without justice, isn’t peace.

Kristy, the reason it is hard to forgive others is because we have yet a self-focused view of forgiveness. Forgiveness doesn't make what some one did okay, justify it in any sense of the word, but when as Christ Himself said, “He who forgives much, loves much.”
There are a great many things we have done that we have not faced the full natural consequence of and by the grace of God the Lord can take away such consequences away by placing us in harmony with His law of love; the very principle His kingdom functions on which is unconditional beneficence. Yet, when suppose God's justice is the justice of this sinful world then we focus on having one who wronged us get their due; their going to get their payback. This is not godly nor is such an thought principally upholding Christlikeness of character.
You cannot avoid the consequences of the laws of health in harmonizing with them or bringing yourself out of harmony with them. He who is sinned against may have psychological issues; warped thinking to a varying degree yet the conscience remains crystal clear. The one who is intent on harming another will invariably sear the conscience and tarnish the character.
I really have thank Come and Reason Ministries and Dr. Jennings for helping to really rightly divide this way of thinking that many Christians, like yourself, get trapped in because we are so blinded by the in which we actually understand justice and the justice this world brings seems so holy and right yet it only causes more division and destruction who uphold to this satanic form of justice.

The problem with Rainn Wilson's (or whatever his name is) analysis of the present day church is that it is actuality quite the opposite, or to be fair, the antithesis of his characterization is equally as prevalent, as well as various iterations of culture. Agreed, that it is important that the world is presented a proper, Christ-centered church to observe, but if we are going to instruct the church and how to do so we have to get our facts straight. My suggestion is that we simply ignore Rainn Wilson, or whatever his name is.

Last week I was blocked (without any explanation) from Ty Gibson's FB page, simply because of the following comment and questions I posted: "It is past time God's people stop allowing the forces of darkness to control us! Satan is very pleased that his servants have locked you in your homes like criminals, closed your churches and schools, and otherwise controlled your lives. All of which severely limits your face-to-face witnessing, helping others, and performing the many other activities that bring us joy and a healthy mind, body, and spirit.Where is your "red line"? At what point will you finally stand up and say, NO MORE!?Nationally Forced Vaccinations? 12 Month + lockdowns?National Sunday Law?Unable To Buy Or Sell Without A Government Mark?75% Income Tax? Forced Microchipping?National Mask Mandate?Permanently Losing Your Business/Job?"
