3:00 - 3:40 I see an added dimension in this, considering that these guys are from Basel, Switzerland. The Swiss has a long martial history, their reputation to the point where everyone else agreed on their neutrality so that no one would have to fight them. Swiss mercenaries used to be a standard of excellence. The Pontifical Swiss Guard has been serving the Vatican almost continually from 1506, and considered one of the oldest serving military units in the world. In this sequence here, they're showing us who they are.
This clip is taken during the 2012 Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, celebrating Queen Elizabeth II's 60 anniversary as the monarch. (I have the full show ... 2 copies, one WITH TV commentary and one without). It actually looks MORE impressive when it's from a FIXED TV camera rather than a handheld phone. BTW, in case you missed it, that sequence starting at 5:02 has every drummer playing THREE DRUMS ... WITH BOTH HANDS. Each hand is hitting his drum PLUS the ones on either side (especially noticably if you just watch the guys on the end of the row, or you slow it down).
This is the "Top Secret" drum corp. and they are ridiculously good. I was in drumline and this is just next level. Unlike our Spanish friend El Sablah blah blah I can't even pretend to say or spell his name, he only has to worry about himself. To coordinate this many people, get them all to commit to this level of perfection and practice is amazing. Great reaction. Much love and keep on keepin on J.
I was in a Jr drum corp from Grand Forks, ND, that did competitions in the late 50's - early 60's and appeared at events like the Orange Bowl, the Cotton Bowl and the Calgary Stampede. We won some prizes and I know the kind of work goes into something like this. Top Secret is the best in the world. Did you know that all of their sticking is based on 36 sticking rudiments? I wasn't bad. But then I was put next to a guy who was really good in College. The difference was remarkable and I was so impressed with his skill. These guys are awesome! Literally!
I remember those days on the drum line grueling, endless hours of practice, you had to know all rudiments and be on your game, but it was fun, BIG TIME FAN, and of course know how to read music 😂
Brings me back to High School in the 70's and 80's!!! I had a girlfriend who was in The University of Alabama's Million $ Band!!! we used to go see The Drum and Bugle Corp competitions quite often! I loved seeing the percision the bands had while marching!
fantastic, marched drum corps from the late 60s to 79. last 2 with the Boston Crusaders. best DL l saw and competed agaisnt was the 1975 Hawthorne Muchachoes. 1975 CYO Nats had 1 or 2 tics agaisnt them. after that performance the drum judge went up shook each o f their hands.
oh come on now ... there are the Blue Devils, the Bluecoats, the Boston Crusaders, the Carolina Crown, the Santa Clara Vanguard, The Cadets, the Blue Stars, the Phantom Regiment, The Cavaliers, the Mandarins, Colts, and the Troopers all last years DCI competitors who would challenge TSDC for who is the best.
Not ONE off! Top Secret Drum Corps are THE BEST in The World! It's beyond question! They even show the World their most famous "Secret" manoeuvre knowing full well it can't EVER be replicated due to its astonishing complexity which takes years to master, and can only be achieved by their Top Secret methods used in training! Absolutely astonishing! P.S They also have the coolest name!!😮👏
I played drums in school for 8 years this is much harder than you could imagine. My freshman year i was put on tritoms the next i went to quads this is very hard
Swiss Top Secret Drum Corps are SO GOOD ! ! ! Thousands of endless hours of practice to make it look that easy 🥁 Gah... but the Color Guard needs more work for as simple as their routine is. Flags should look like the drumsticks. All vertical, horizontal, 45angle, throws same height, toss/catch same moment, same toss/catch angles etc. Saw some glitches, but we are here for the drums after all 😉
YOOOOOO 2012 Edinburgh Military Tattoo (i think) . i was there on the last night. Absolutely incredible display. I would recommend everyone go its on hell of an experience :)
Funny enough there is always the one Guy "but.....dirty.......DCI WAAAYYYYYY better......." and still it's Top Secret playing at the Tattoo over and over again. Let's face it, they are still better than 99.9% of the people watching it =P
So after seeing for my first time his reaction to the TSDC with The Royal Marines Corps Of Drums I admit I was a little confused. I mean did he not participate in High School band? How is it that he did not watch College bands half time shows? How is it that he was never exposed to this as a younger person. Or did I just grow up in some alternative universe? Goodness there was even a movie called "Drumline". Well Mr Fulton welcome to the artistry which is competitive drumlines.
This is both the most popular and also the dirtiest performance of this drumline. Basic, high school level performance. While you're looking on in awe, any actual percussionist is cringing at all the dirt being thrown down here. I recommend watching a lot performance of Santa Clara Vanguard or Bluecoats, or really any top 12 DCI line. Their drums might not light up, but they are 10x cleaner and better than this tripe.
🤗Edinburgh Military Tattoos 🇨🇭are where you’ll find them.🇨🇭For a part timers they 👍are the best in the world.💕Been obsessed with them for years.💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋
@@samsignorelli You are correct. Their visual 'tricks' while entertaining and intricate are not a replacement for the precision and chops executed by top Drum Corps. For example, the era of the 80's with which I am intimately familiar.
@@williamschubele2542 Which is when I marched, in fact! (BD 84, soprano). I don't expect TS to play the same kind of stuff we hear out of BD, or SCV, or Cavies, etc...but I DO want their beats to be at least close to clean when it really matters.
Unless I'm mistaken this is the Swiss Top Secret Drum Corp. I'm a big fan of theirs, they are indeed AWESOME!!!
You're right. It's the Swiss Top Secret Drum Corp
We have a Marine Corps in the UK, I and they do stuff like that too, and are excellent.

The Swiss people can confirm 100% that we do not come from the “military”. ="Top Secret" is just doing this as a hobby!!!!
That's what we love ❤️
Some killer Cadences in that performance...Great drumline..

Top Secret kicks ass and always puts on a good show! They do one with their sticks on fire, when they finish, the bass drums light off fireworks.
🤘🏻🤘🏻
just ming blowing how good these guys are, imagine the privilege of being invited to play for this group
🤘🏻

Non ho parole... semplicemente MOSTRUOSI!!!
I would love to see you react to some of the best 90s DCI drumlines: 93 star, 92 SCV, 94 - 97 Blue Devils, etc.
I remember those days on the drum line grueling, endless hours of practice, you had to know all rudiments and be on your game, but it was fun, BIG TIME FAN, and of course know how to read music 😂
They are amazing. I've been watching their videos for a while now. I hope to see them live one day.

I’ve seen this performance before and they are as precise as a Swiss watch.

Practice is the secret think . LOTS of practice !!!!!
Remember, these guys have day jobs. They practice on their own time together. This is a hobby for them.

Wow!
And they do this part time. They all have regular jobs/professions.
Please watch their collaboration with th RN Marines. Perfection personified (although it predates this performance). Still impressed
Would’ve been nice if the drummers video was big and your face was small
Nice One
I seen this performance of the top secret brum corps live they are amazing i could watch them all night

Entertaining, but sorry...Top Secret's dirt has dirt....there are cleaner high school lines, not to mention Drum Corps Intl. ones.
🔼 armchair warrior
@@davidnicoson6503 No...a drum corps veteran who's been at the highest levels and seen far better drumlines.
