    I love that they are all circle cookies!

      I like to keep it simple so you don't have to have the specific cutter to do the design!

      I agree. Some other channels use some fancy cutters and as a beginner hobbiest who just wants to decorate cookies with her kids I appreciate the simple cookie cutter designs.

    Does icing get dry when they’re in the bags? (While you wait for the icing on the cookies to dry for example). Also can you store/save the icing when you have leftover? :)

    • @LittleCookieCo
      @LittleCookieCo  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The icing won't dry in the bag. You have to let the cookies sit out on the counter uncovered for about 8 hours to dry. I usually leave mine out overnight and by the morning they're dry. Then you can bag them with no problems! And leftover icing, I will put the piping bags in ziploc bags and put them in the freezer until next time I need them!

      I wouldn't say they are super soft or chewy, but they do have a soft bite! The icing is a little crunchy but the cookie is soft and they are tasty! This is how I make mine m.th-cam.com/video/3orMJXkKk5o/w-d-xo.html

    Hi! It's being like a struggle a little with the royal icing I have made it with a fork only and then I started decorating the cookies but for how much time do I let the icing set up? Like for 40 min?

    • @LittleCookieCo
      @LittleCookieCo  ปีที่แล้ว

      To fully dry they need to sit on the counter uncovered for about 8 hours or so. But between steps it could take an hour or so. Or you can use a fan and it will dry faster in about 30-40 minutes

    How do you gauge how much of each colour of icing to make when you're starting out, and if you have lots leftover in piping bags can you freeze it in those (for how long) and use it another time?

    • @LittleCookieCo
      @LittleCookieCo  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      To be honest it's mostly just a guessing game and as you Decorate you get better. If I have leftover, I put the piping bags in a zioloc bag and freeze them..then I'll add fresh icing to the frozen (defrosted) icing to use it again. Near the end of this video I show how I store them in the bags

    I tried these out and I got tons of compliments thank you! Do you happen to know of an icing recipe that doesn’t involve meringue powder (or egg whites)? My province doesn’t allow dairy in the icing when it comes to using a home kitchen and selling baked goods out of the home. I’m stumped as to what to use now as I need something that will package well and look presentable.

    • @LittleCookieCo
      @LittleCookieCo  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's so great to here! I know some people use a vegan royal icing that uses Aquafaba, you'd have to search up a recipe but they use the chickpea water instead of meringue powder. If you search up the Cake Mama, she makes vegan royal icing and may have a recipe on her website!

    Could you please tell me about the storage of the icing. How long does it last in the bag?
    Also if its left for a while and it hardens, is there a way of softening it again?

    • @LittleCookieCo
      @LittleCookieCo  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I usually store my bags in the fridge overnight to slow separation, or you can store them on the counter for a week or so. If they spearete you can massage or mix the icing back together. When it hardens or gets gummy then the icing is too old and won't work well. Once I'm done my set, I'll freeze the icing for next time!

    How long you dried the icing? Is the temperature in the kitchen affecting how long the icing will set?

    • @LittleCookieCo
      @LittleCookieCo  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you let them dry on the counter it can take up to a few hours. You can speed it up but putting a fan near them and blowing gently over them, then it may take about 45 minutes to an hour. For the cookies to be fully fried it takes about 8 hours to be sure or overnight. The one thing that can affect drying time is humidity. If its really humid then it may take longer

    Hello I just subscribed to your channel 🤗. I’m loving your videos. Your work is amazing. What type of food coloring are u using for the icing? Where can I buy the bags to pipe and the metal pencil to even out the icing. Not sure what u call it. I’m new at this and I would love to start making cookies with my kids. I appreciate the help thank you.

      Hi! Thank you so much! I'm sure your kids would love to make cookies with you ❤ I normally use Americolor as I've accumulated a lot over the years, but lately it's been hard to find so I've also started using some ChefMaster colours. Wilton colours are also ok, they sometimes aren't as strong or concentrated but work well too! The metal pencil thing is called a scribe tool, you can use a toothpick as well if you don't have one. You can find those in the baking section of Michael's or Hobby Lobby but I also have it linked under the video. The tipless bags are also linked under the video in the description (sometimes you have to click a down arrow just under the video and it will show all the info). Let me know if you can't find it.

    Are the cookies hard or soft when you bite into them? I have had these types of cookies and they were hard as concrete which I don't like....

    • @LittleCookieCo
      @LittleCookieCo  ปีที่แล้ว

      They aren't super soft, but they are not hard either. If they're fresh (so eaten within a couple weeks I'd say) they have a softer bite, but it's not like biting into a chewy cookie.

    Do you have a recommendation for the ratio of outline to flood icing when coloring a batch of icing? I definitely follow your direction to mix to outline consistency and then color and then divide and thin down again for the flooding, but I just can't get the ratio right!

    • @LittleCookieCo
      @LittleCookieCo  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Do you mean for example you don't have enough flood or too much flood when you mix it? I make a lot less outline than flood cause I know ill use a lot less. So I like to makes handful of outline if that makes sense? So when I hold the bag it fills my hand (and it's easier to hold when it's not a very small amount). So maybe about a cup to cup and a half? And then if I ever need more flood I can always thin down my outline icing!

      I'm honeslty not too sure! You can use fresh egg whites so I'd assume maybe you could! But best to google a recipe perhaps? Sorry I couldn't help any more!!

    Is it hard to keep a steady hand when using royal icing? I've only tried fondant icing, but would love to learn royal! 😍

    • @LittleCookieCo
      @LittleCookieCo  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The trick for me is I actually pipe 2 handed! So I have the piping bag in my right hand and then use my left finger against the bag to steady it and be more precise! It works so well and it would seem awkward but it is like 2nd nature to me now!

    In reguards to using raw egg whites for royal icing is there a way to make it safer as to avoid food poisoning?

    • @LittleCookieCo
      @LittleCookieCo  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! You can buy pasteurized egg whites in a carton that are completely safe to eat raw. As long as it says pasteurized you're good!

    I bought a box of piping bags. The problem is when I cut the tip off it is more "flat" than "round", if you know what I mean. I really do not want to use the tips. I have some but they are so not fun to clean and I don't want to buy a bunch of them. Any tips?

    • @LittleCookieCo
      @LittleCookieCo  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you buy wilton bags by any chance? Or something similar where they are much thicker plastic? When the bags are thicker they tend to have a thick seam or sometimes even 2 seams which makes the hole flatter and not round. Try cutting with the seam in the middle and flatten the bag out as much as possible. If that doesn't work , you may have to buy new bags or ksut made do with a flatter outline. It shouldn't affect your flood too much because it is looser icing. Below the video linked here I have some links of the bags I use th-cam.com/video/Kpp8DWfQy0o/w-d-xo.html

    How long does it take for the icing to dry ?

    • @LittleCookieCo
      @LittleCookieCo  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It can take an hour or 2 if just air drying on the counter, but you can put a fan on them and it will dry them a bit faster, maybe in about 45 minutes. To fully dry the cookies leave them overnight on the counter for 8 hours!
