This week on Stop & Go F1 we watch a film. Iron man 2 to be specific and how this scene is so wrong but also so right
#f1 #monacogp - กีฬา
My dad James King headed a group called Historic Grand Prix in America which raced F1 cars from the 3L era and his group helped the team shoot this scene. To answer your question about the names on the leader board only two are from HGP- my dad who is King and Locke is Chris Locke who is a Lawyer from SF that owns and runs the Lotus 77. But not sure why they put the NZ flag next to his name not the US one.
Probably so they won’t have 3 US flags
Australian flag
They also put an Italian flag next to a clearly French name lol
@@bruceketta856 Reverse Jean Alessi lmao
Nahhhhh. It was clearly a reference to me. I'm Aussie and have King as my last name
(I have never had an interest in F1 in my life)
I thought the MCU was UNREALISTIC by presenting an overtake at Monaco lol
In the 70s, the cars could overtake in Monaco because they weren't SUV sized back then.
@@ahumeniyway larger than an suv
@@ahumeniy Rolls Royce sized now... in fact, F1 cars have a larger footprint than a Rolls Royce SUV.
Look up a comparison of the cars they raced in back then to the ones they race in now. The difference in size is huge.
Lmao 😂😂
The most unrealistic scene😅😅 A billionaire driving a car round Monaco 😅. Meanwhile Thanos with his snap which deleted half the universe 😢😢. 😂😂
I had the same moment in “Independence Day” for some reason Will Smith knowing how to fly the alien spaceship was a bridge too far for me 🤦♂️
@@adamlake9507 😅😅
This is in ironman 2 which thanos has not arrived yet
The freaking finger snap was indeed the worst thing I had seen from Marvel up to that point and THAT actually made me abandon Marvel movies. I could complain about that thing and how nonsensical even the idea behind it was for hours...
Woosh....
10:42 "YOU DON'T NEED A TICKET! YOU'RE A MARSHALL!" LMAO 🤣🤣
it sent me flying 🤣🤣
what if he illegally made his way to being a marshal...he would have needed a ticket
i love how he slowly becomes louder and louder, losing it more and more, had me dying
no way we watched the same video!?!?
😂😂😂😂 I was truly surprised
RIP Greg Locke (the car) 😢
Even more sadly , after his passing one of Lockes kids put diesel in his own tank instead of Petrol and has never been the same since .... 😢😢
@into_the_void Diesel addiction is a real issue for sure, he’s probably gonna do methanol next
Shout out to his car family
Gone but never forgotten
Thank you Disney's Pixar studios for bringing up the timeless tale of Greg Locke (the car). His story will always bring us hope.
My big takeaway here is that Monaco charges more to be a marshal (€100) than a driver (€80)!
Which makes sense, honestly. It's basically the difference between reading the flags and cautiously passing the danger zone vs. knowing when to use them plus giving aid to clean the track, push cars aside and such.
the text at 1:27 says it's €80 to take part in this one race, and that it must be paid in addition to the entry fee. So the driver pays more than €80. also, the €100 for marshals is a yearly fee, meaning you can marshall for more than just one race. So no, they do not charge more for marshals.
80 is NOT the entry fee for drivers. It is the cost of the license required to race IF you don't already have the proper license.
The most unrealistic thing is that one of those cars from the mid-70s is supposed to have taken pole in 1:15.259. A time worthy of the V10s of the mid-2000s.
Nah I can explain Fernando Alonso briefly possessed the 70's car and became a V10 for the qualifying.
he was fucken on it
For real. Those cars couldn't even go flat out through the tunnel at the time
@@GR1MRACER Bro nailed the setup and had that shit ON RAILS
The track was different and faster enough in 70's, they made it little slower in 2000's
Driving a RR around Monaco the wrong way is probably more dangerous than welding an electric whip
This video is fucking hilarious
I was finished when he brought up random Cars lore from some obscure background character who had 3 children and then probably died in a fire ball lmao
It isn't even real Cars lore, he found it on a FAN wiki. That's someone's Cars OC. Which makes it even funnier.
@@KarazolaX wow that's even better lol
I didn't question it for a second, given how many additional pointless side characters actually exist in cars lore
@@KarazolaXfucking car oc 😭😭😭
@@KarazolaX at least that explained the janky livery
There's another thing I noted immediately when I first saw that scene. Most F1 cars of that time had the pedals very close or downright in front of the front axle. Whiplash cut the car some distance behind the wheels, yet Stark didn't get his feet chopped off. I guess Howard was unusually concerned with driver's safety at the time.🤷🏼♂️
Nice video, I couldn't stop laughing when you got to the part of a marshall not needing tickets for the race.😂
First thing I thought when I watched the movie, he would be cutting their feet off...
I was expecting him to address that part 😂
THIS. This was my thought process exactly. And no-one else seems to notice! lol
The most unrealistic part is when people comments in a serious manner when the video is a mix of curiosity and jokes only made so people can laugh while learning some fun facts
Still had holes so it’s okay to nitpick the nitpicks. Like pointing out whiplash doesn’t know French, but his license was faked using someone else’s identity. Or saying that Tony randomly took an interest in racing; did he not recall Tony’s car collection? Of course Tony is into racing and no way would he let someone else drive his historic car at Monico…
I love the level of detail you go into, quoting a myriad of marshalling rules for the Monaco GP. Brilliant stuff 😂
RRRRRRulle one point one o 😁
You know i watched all the iron man movies and lots of marvel ones
But it wasn't until you mentioned it here that i realized howard had tony at a very advanced age
Boy, I sure hope someone got fired for that blunder, but the answers to most plot holes, "A wizard did it"
I mean… he doesn’t even consider that the outfit might be fake and he entered the track area illegally. Fake name tag to match his fake identity? Is that so outlandish?
No, because not many F1 fans would notice even.
I'm not sure if the wizard has his necklace at that point.
@@blasecorrea8350the entire video is a joke lol
@@mr.ballstone1914 ya we’re talking about marvel big dog. No one said this shit was serious💀
I guess Stark only had to be a title sponsor for the team
He did a Lance Stroll basically😂
Mazepin before mazepin.
This is one of the funniest videos I’ve watched in a while shocked when I looked down and saw you only had 3k subs
Too right. Not for long if he keeps this up, I’ll bet
So in theory it's cheaper to race at Monaco than be a Marshall.....80euro for a drivers permit, 100 euro marshals fee. 🤔
It isn't cheaper. You need the license/permit PLUS the entry fee (which is probably in the 1000 euro range).
Plus you need a car
I mean to be fair. It wouldn't be a far stretch to imagine that someone like Whiplash could easily threaten/kill his way in to being a marshal.
So then why would he have the fake identity match the uniforms name?
To show his fake ID and gain some time... I guess
@@Cosmokevlarto board a plane in the first place.
That Cars lore moment with Greg Locke had me dying lmao
Also had Greg Locke dying RIP
This is the type of video I live for: extreme deep dives into scenes that probably have more research put into them than the actual scene in the movie
Never thought I would randomly come across a video that turned out to be ranting of bad marshalling, going from "mmm Iron Man content!" to "what the heck is he blabbering about?" to "absolutely damn straight! You tell 'em!" and loved every single second of it
Wales mentioned RAHHHHHHHHHHHH 🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴
Considering last year Martins in F2 almost ran over a marshal because race direction though double-yellow was enough for marshals to work on a car that was laying crossing over almost the entire track width just behind a blind corner, the marshaling standard doesn't seem that far off to me lmao
I'm a Marshall for Monaco's GP, I know some of Marshall who were able to help shooting the scene. The production was really kind with them and they get ticket to watch it before everybody but also get a free DVD when it was released. And ofc get some time with actors etc.
It was shoot at the morning, around 6 am if I remember right.
I assume there are normal people who live in Monaco, because why would the fabulously wealthy bother with marshaling. Considering you have to reside in Monaco or a neighboring municipality, how is it living there?
You were THIS close to screaming... "It's not a question of where it grips, Its a question of weight ratio... A five ounce bird cannot carry a one pound coconut!" and I was here for it!
Terrific video and outstanding rant.
Are you suggesting coconuts migrate????
@@Captain_Kremmen All across the oceans. They explore, they colonize, they build kingdoms.
This is such a ridiculous breakdown, great video.
"Regularity" here refers to regularity rally or TSD (time, speed, distance) rally--also referred to as Road Rally in the US's SCCA. This means you don't need much racing experience at all to participate in the Monaco Historic
The Greg Lock car part was so good lmao
WALES MENTIONED RAHHHH
Anyone else reckon this dude sounds just like Jimmy Broadbent.
Holy shit lol 😂
I dnt understand why Happy decided to go the long way (in reverse) to help Tony rather than go down the track along with others
I thought that. He enters the track at Casino/Massenet. So the only slow speed corner is really the Lowes hairpin if you follow the track layout as you could straight line the chicane at the end of the tunnel. Whereas going the way he went, you have to deal with Saint Devote, Anthony Nogues, Rascasse etc. All whilst avoiding oncoming traffic in a 2.5tonne Phantom!
Maybe he had a ticket for the race so he could find tony but when he saw him go for the car he used the back up plan that was being a marshal
and he made sure to get his fake name printed onto a patch and quickly sewed it on for his backup marshall uniform too!
@@jahnahjarvis2963 back up plan does not mean that is a worse plan, if he had his name on his clothes that mean only 2 things
that was the first plan or he was ready to everything
So it's more expensive to be a marshal than it is to drive a car😅
uh kinda because you have to pay for fia regulated clothes and for a team to take care of your car sooooo
It costs thousands just to get into karting, let alone f1. Tony’s just lucky his dad decided to make the car when he was 6
@@penapvp2230 we are talking about driving in this historical race. It takes a great deal of money to become a real f1 racer.
@@geniferteal4178 it takes a great deal of money to get into the ENTRY level, not just the top series. Motorsports is run by money and that’s the biggest reason I’ve been unable to get into the sport even though it’s my biggest passion in life currently.
This might be one of the funniest F1 videos I've seen in ages. Well played
The marshal portion of this video gained you a subscriber 😂😂😂😂😂
Your emotional outbrake before the end got me dying laughing! 🤣🤣
Absolutely ridiculous that this is researched, and I am SO HERE FOR IT! Thanks for the vid.
This is one of the most entertaining videos i have seen on two subjects that I absolutely love. Thank you, you earned a loyal sub
😂 this is one of the best videos I’ve seen on TH-cam in a long time thank you lmaooo
"You may call me soft" lol 🤣. Well done sir!
Amazing video. Enjoyed it a lot.
The most entertaining video I have seen in SOME TIME! Thanks!
Instant subscribe. One of the best TH-cam videos I’ve seen in years. Fantastic research, and the commentary is absolutely TOP. Well done lad. 🤣
for proper preperations, it's always a good idea to prepare both, a Marshal uniform (in case you want to go that route and no, just because your name is on it doesn't mean, that you've undercone training. The uniforms are probably not gonna be a secret until the race anyway) and take a ticket with you (in case you go in as a visitor). Might even be an idea to prepare to play a reporter or a security as well, just to have as many options as possible.
Awesome video. Thank you so much 🎉🎉🎉
So basically tony stark is just the movie version of lance stroll
underrated channel, keep up the good work
Okay. this is probably one of my favorite videos. thank you so much for this, made me laugh out loud several times. especially that ticket part xD
Damn, i thought this was gonna be a boring breakdown video, but i was laughing so much throughout and especially at the end 😂 it was like a crescendo of laughter. Good shit
This was a good watch. Thank you!
This video is a masterpiece! Hahaha I hope you make many more videos on F1 in movies!
Fantastic video! :D
This is the greatest video I’ve seen today. Thank you. Not where I expected it to go. Dying laughing.
The video the world didn't know it needed. Outstanding work.
This was really funny. Good job
Not him raising his tone when reading the marshalling rules 😂
I am dead, why are you screaming 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
If you’ve got fake credentials there’s no need for all the Marshall training and vetting. As long as you look the part and have the identification you’d have access.

Just an aside. The most unrealistic thing is a whip charged with enough electricity to cut through aluminum and steel parts instantly. In reality it would have disintegrated itself faster. Basically as soon as he charged it up and touched the ground. It would have burned up. No material is able to do that, no matter how much they imagine to be so. The table of elements has no row for magic. No matter how much the MCU or Star Wars wishes for it. Likely electrocuting himself in this process. This was the MCU pretending to have lightsabers, but in the hands of bad guys only. Again, magic. More fitting for Harry Potter. Lightsabers as well.
Neeeeeeerrrrrd
This is actually one of the best youtube videos ive ever seen
Brilliant vid , subbed
amazing video!
Good points and I've learned something about the historic Monaco GP. Great video, thanks for sharing.
Brilliant analysis of marshalling at the Grand Prix Historique at Monaco 🤣
this video is absolute gold! had a good laugh through and through🤣
Love this rant! hahaha Great vid!
ok i wasn't expecting this video to be this hilarious lol
This might be the most interesting and funniest video I've seen this year about F1. Cheers !
hahahaha thaks for the video, u made my day
:D
Oh man this was amazing I laughed so damn hard thank you
I think that the funny thing about people nitpicking this scene is that many completely missed it was "historic" and just thought that 2011 f1 cars looked like that. Or called it another flaw
“And you may call me soft, but I feel this is just cause to stop the race…”
This line has no reason to be as funny as it is, because I can’t stop laughing, but I guess it just sums up the FIA and their recent string of questionable calls.
Brilliant video mate! Loved every second of it!😂
Hilarious breakdown. You have a new sub here
bro the screaming at 10:42 got me in TEARS HAHAHAHA
I think this is a pretty good video.
Nice!
The story about Howard Stark 4:08 nearly killed me, absolutely hilarious video sir, made my day :)
As a former kart track marshal myself, I applaud you.
Thank you for the top laugh.
It's crazy how much effort was put in to make it seem more sophisticated and realistic while simultaneously making less sense than the simpler explanation.
Thank you for this masterpiece! ❤
Thank you, algorithm for introducing me to this gem of a channel. Very funny and insightful.
This video made more sense than I could have ever imagined 😂😂
First Time watching a video from you and you Say "nia nia nia" imitating the subscribers ? I'm subscribing 🤣🤣🤣

this was amazing
9:22 the “corpse” of commissioners lmao
Great video!
The ending was perfect
amazing video, great humor 11/10
this is the best video i have ever watched
1:17 It's a *regularity* licence, not regulatory. Regularity is a sort of time trial competition where the aim is to complete a route in a specific time - it doesn't require going flat out, which would most likely result in the driver losing! It's strange that this sort of licence allows you to race in the Monaco Historic.
To those that weren't already aware of the Historic, I would strongly recommend going to see it. The cars are absolutely spectacular, they get driven surprisingly hard, and it's much cheaper than going to the actual F1 race.
Now, there does exists youtube videos of everything unnessesery 🙈 props for making the video, it must have taken some time to make it, but this simply just cant be more unimportant 😂😂
Not to mention, Happy clearly enters the track around mirabeau but the fact we see him going through casino, and instead of going with the direction of the race and the shorter route through the tunnel to the pool, where tony was, he goes head on against the racers around the other 2/3~3/4 of a track to get to him... 😅
THANK YOU!!!! I'm not a fan of comics or comic book movies, but I actually liked the first Iron Man just as a good movie. So you can imagine how quickly I lost it on this movie with the F1 scenes - so nobody has radios in this universe?!?!?!
Radios in F1 cars weren't introduced until the mid-1980s. As mentioned in the video, the cars taking part had to be the same as they were when racing and these were mid '70s cars
Best video ive seen this year😂
"You might call me soft" 😂😂😂
I don’t know why I watched this whole thing but I loved it! 👏👏👏
Leclerc with the monaco curse getting cut in half
Anton in fact predicted Tony would do such a crazy thing since he knew about his paladium infection. His target was 100% Tony himself not the car. He knew that even if he was out of luck and Tony didn't drive, he would have definitely at least shown up in his armor. Thus the whole "sharks come for a bleeding god" speech later on. One of my favourite movies.
the cars bit and the ending were so fucking funny
