Hand it over and walk away! Best repair advice in the world!
I knew Audie but, not well, we just looked at playing a little differently. Fabulous musician! I hope whomever inherits this D-18 loves it and plays it like Audie! Play well with your new band next to Jimmy and all those greats!

I played that D-18 several yrs ago. It was one of the most open & vibrant sounding D-18's I've ever played. It sounds even better in this video!!!!!!! I'll bet it would be a great studio guitar!!!!!!!

What a great sound, very mellow. I think it has a lot to do with its age.

Nice tone and balance on this 58.. has the top bracing been scalloped? Good bottom end...What strings were on for this video?

@Bill dedrick I played that 18 about 11 yrs ago & I'm almost certain that the bracing has never been touched. Audie used to use D'Addario flat wound mediums. They tend to give most guitars a more mellow & focused tone. He may still use them, but I'm not sure.

BTW, I have never played a D18. But I have played a D45. My brother had one before he passed away. What's the price of a New Martin D18?? You guys got me thinking now, lol.

Great video guys. Nice D18. I have a D35. I have always wanted a D18. I always figure they sounded better due to the fact they are striped down. They lighter then other Standard Martin's. Do agree or disagree with me? Great video thanks for sharing your video.

@Thomas Tommy I'm not sure about 18's being stripped down more than other Martins, but mahogany guitars tend to be lighter weight than typical rosewood guitars. Of course, this partially depends on how thick the company leaves the back & sides. There are several other factors that also play into this, but Guitars tend to lighten in weight as they age. Mahogany guitars seem to do so even more.
