I loved Olive and The Road. The Overstory felt like a collection of short stories to me. Maybe I’ll try to read it again sometime but Powers writing also made me feel that way in Playground so I don’t know 🤷♀️. The way he described the plight/ blight of the Chestnut tree was so beautiful though. I’ll never forget it. Looking forward to Lincoln in the Bardo! 🙏
Washington Black is so beautifully written. The Overstory surprised me in such a good way. And Eric you should totally have a conversation with Daisy Rockwell - she is such a warm and witty person.
I loved both Gilead and Lila but I was at my mid 30s when I first read Gilead. I have also read Housekeeping but although I did like it I didn't love it like the other two.
Yes! 👏 I’d like to follow it more closely although the trouble is some of the books aren’t usually published in the UK so must be expensively imported. 😕

Excellent, enjoyable video. Thanks very much!
Thanks!
Bernie and Chris are my secret soulmates as fellow reader walkers, along with Middle Sister.
I admire that though don't think it could ever be me. 😆

I’m pleasantly surprised to discover I’ve read most of the books mentioned here! I wish you all lived in my neighborhood! 😍
😊📚
Ahhh you have made me totally want to read Milkman asap!!! It’s been on my list for years ❤
Thank you for this entertaining video, Eric. Your friends are charming and I loved listening to all the perspectives.
Thanks! 😊

Cool vid!
Milkman on audio is a whole other (wonderful) experience.
Oh interesting! Thanks
Blonde Roots is a wonderful book and I don't know if it's just me but I think I can see more of Bernandine in her first character, the playwright.
Eric, please read Gilead again. It's beautiful
👍
Hated The Road.
Bernie, The Road may be my favorite book, for the reasons you state. The crying too!
I know you were fans of the Charlotte Wood title on the Booker - you might also enjoy the Stella Prize (Australian prize) ✨
