This longer version of the MacGregor 26 video contains more detail about this exciting boat. It covers sailing, powering, trailering, launching, and how the boat and trailer are built.
Roger, you have been incredibly helpful to us since we purchased a pre-owned MacGregor 26M a short time ago. My husband has called several times and you have been so generous with your time and your invaluable advice. Thank you for letting him know that the foam inside the mast should not be drilled through or removed! We'd received conflicting advice elsewhere, and he talked with you just in time. We are so excited to own this gorgeous boat, and have plans to share this blessing with a lot of folks who are unable to have a boat of their own. I hadn't seen this particular video before, but I plan to show it to my husband tomorrow first thing. Thanks you for designing such an amazing boat, and thank you for all the advice you have given. We didn't purchase the boat from you, yet you have treated my husband like a valued customer... or better yet, a friend. Thanks again.
As someone who is studying to be a marine biologist, I plan on using this kind of boat for light duty research. Because it's so versatile, I could use this boat to research anywhere from estuaries to the open ocean. I would carry up to 3 scientists, including myself, who would also be snorkelers/divers deployed from the boat. I would also carry and deploy, from this boat, a small ROV submarine like the OpenROV.
The video was made in 2009, do you notice that Macgregor still uses the same funky 80s music from the promo videos for the older Mac sailboats in this video?
I guess this settles it. There's a beautifully maintained 26 on the market. Every boat is a compromise, but the Mac seems to check nearly all the boxes - good under sail or power, shallow draft, reasonably easy to trailer and launch, plus it's not hard on the eyes or the wallet. Sigh. But hey, it's only money.
I have been looking at these for some time. I have to get one after watching this. Such a versatile boat. Best of both worlds and not too much of a compromise.
This is an incredible sales video. That boat is so cool!! Seeing a sailboat going 25mph with the sails down is strange! I can't believe they haven't sold a million of these boats. I want one! I wonder how many people have raised the sails without uploading the water ballast and tipped over?
I can tell you, it will lean tremendously, once the sails are released it will right itself even with now water in the tank. The bottom of the boat is much more dense and heavier than the upper.
I worked in the factory in Costa Mesa, back in late 1983. I was a quality control inspector but I was severely hampered by my lack of comprehension in Spanish. A lot of pointing, gesturing and making faces. It was a fun job none the less with an interest in sailing from sailing a laser.
I like how the M is supposed to be faster under sail but in their head to head clip it's heeling way more than the X, almost like it's sailing without ballast.
To Day i see this Video, and I m in Love with this Boot, Very clever Concept. But how long live Material,, 3 Parts Build this Boot ? Reinhold from Germany
NOTICE: shows a car towing this "but"....it's an old heavy 8 cylinder that can beat most SUV's today. Also and most importantly, the boat does not have the heavy outboard motor on it....completely lacks the motor :) . It's a cool boat and I would consider it but just be honest you criminals.
Hi Sean, I towed one with a 50hp outboard, three batteries, TV, Solar panel, fridge/freezer, and lockers full of junk, with a 6 cylinder Mitsubishi Magna 200kms and never had any issues.

Loved description or the self righting feature: "Won't sail fast but, it beats swimming." at 4 min.
Never worked it out to buy one, but always admired them and convinced two others to buy them.

I have a 26d. Very well built. Easy to sail. Lots of interior space. Overall I love my Macgregor.

I have an idea for instantly sealing small to medium hull breaches during an emergency at sea. Would you be interested in talking about it?

Has anyone crossed the ocean on a Mac Greager.
ladies and gentlemen the
contessa 32
is this boat available in Europe ?
I have a question for my 26M; Under power only, should the ballast be empty or full, and rudders up or down ???
Emptied, dragging around way too much weight. Ballast are only needed for sailing.
@@jupiterrising2267 Ok, thanks
What's the price
Incredible...How can one spend 55 minutes talking about or watching for that matter a Mac Gregor 26...?!?!?! :)
Arlind
Bad sailboat bad powerboat. Poor quality build

+mavic00 should get one then...
