Idk, people it seems had no idea who Simon was and they were still hyped. Though I guess Simon didn't have the lingering idea of "there are limited spots on this pass" hanging over him. Then you have the utter lack of hype for Ryu, and people love Street Fighter. His entire trailer had been leaked and thus it was impossible (and I do mean that; I've yet to find a single hyped reaction for him even after all this time) to squeeze much eagerness out of an audience that had either already seen it or already knew exactly what they were going to see.

For those who are wondering. Fatal Fury came first, but featured the KoF tournament in the story. KoF came about 4 years later and introduced the 3v3 Fighting Game mechanic to the industry. It should also be pointed out that King of Fighters was the original Smash: It crossed over Fatal Fury, Ikari Warriors, Psycho Soldier, and Art of Fighting.
Actually KOF and FF happens in a separate timeline, that happened because the team in charge of the KOF series decided to put Geese in KOF96 when the team in charge of the FF series decided the fate of the character in Real Bout, released at the end of 1995.

Terry fan speaking I grew up with fighting games, and I have a bit of a story My gateway to FGs was Marvel VS Capcom 2 in my local arcade, I played it because I loved superheroes when I was like 7 and that was when Spider-Man 3, Iron Man, and Incredible Hulk were still new. So I loved playing as Wolverine, Iron Man, Hulk, Spidey, Venom, and Captain America. (I knew him from being on my calendar.) After playing Marvel VS Capcom 3 on my console years later, I learned that Ryu was from a game called Street Fighter, and I was so intrigued with the amazing character designs and incredible music that I tried it. Street Fighter 2, 3, and 4 I owned. And through looking through comments sections, I saw a comment that read this: "Hey PikminExpert (the guy who uploaded the video), who do you think would win in a fight? Ryu, or Terry Bogard?" Who the hell was Terry Bogard? According to the replies he was from a game called King of Fighters. So naturally I looked him up. If he was being compared to Ryu, he must have been the main character of that game. I was greeted with a KOF XIII combo video, featuring Terry Bogard, and his theme music. The game was drop dead gorgeous. Beautiful sprites, outstanding animation, quirky voice acting, amazing music that felt signature to the game, awesome stages.. but Terry stole the show. His hilarious engrish move shouting, his amazing choreography that was somehow badass and ridiculous at the same time, his American design.. I was instantly hooked. I found other combo videos featuring characters like Yuri Sakazaki and Kula Diamond, and upon finding the game for ridiculously cheap at gamestop I bought it. I invested hours into it, just like I had with Blazblue, Street Fighter 2, 3, and 4, and Marvel 2 and 3. And I fell in love with the characters. Kyo Kusanagi, Andy Bogard, Joe Higashi, Ryo Sakazaki (Who I learned was the inspiration for Dan from Street Fighter Alpha), and others. The game was very difficult and unintuitive, but the amazing visuals, character designs, movesets, music, and stages kept me playing. Especially the fact that I never beat Ash Crimson without using cheat codes. And from there it was down the rabbit hole. I discovered that Capcom VS SNK 2 existed, so I played that game for a while and got addicted to it too. As a Street Fighter lover, and one eager to learn more about SNK, it was perfect for me. I found SVC Chaos at my local Checkers and played it to death. I bought KOF 98 for my PS2, and fell in love with that one too. That's my favorite KOF game to date, it's a classic. Through Rock Howard being in CvS2, I discovered Garou: Mark of the Wolves, and when that came to PS4 store I bought that too. And in all of them I played my fair share of Terry. I couldn't get enough of him. He was just a little different each time, but always the same American dude. He was not only my favorite SNK character, but ended up becoming my favorite fighting game character ever. I wrote Ryu on the smash ballot before he was even announced. So when my dreams came true and Street Fighter came to smash, I voted for Terry Bogard. As a "literally who" character, it seemed impossible. At the time I knew nothing about KOF's popularity in Mexico, Brazil, Chile, and China.. or of SNK's significance in the 90s arcade scene in general. When I learned all of these things, as well as Sakurai's love for fighting games, and him playing KOF back in the day, I got a glimmer of hope. And when Ken happened, and we got the extra remixes and Guile assist trophy, I felt it in my bones dawg. When Terry got revealed I lost my mind. It still feels like a fever dream, having him and SNK in the limelight. My favorite character in Smash is a dream come true, honestly. I like this reaction video the best. Right up there with "Latinos React to Terry" and Maximilian Dood. If you'd told be beforehand that Terry Bogard was going to be in Smash, I wouldn't have believed you. Unbelievably glad to be proven wrong. To see so many people so hyped about his inclusion reminds me of how I felt when I saw Richter would be playable. It goes to show that no matter how popular they might be to this group or that, every new fighter is special to someone.
I really wish leaks hadn't spoiled it for everyone. I can only speak for myself but I would have been genuinely excited for him if it hadn't been all over Twitter for the days prior. As it was I come off as disappointed in the character, but I assure you I wasn't. I was disappointed in the leaks, and I'm positive I'm not alone in that. I mean people didn't know who Simon was either but they were excited for him just on account of being a new character to explore.
That's the thing with leakers. They don't care about spoiling the game and ruining the surprise. The only thing they're capable of caring about is getting any amount of attention that they can.
@@rayqcina4869 I had to speak privately with someone on Twitter who kept reposting stuff. I showed them my reaction and my dialogue afterwards about how leaks had ruined my excitement. @@BJGvideos Boy, do I wish they would. That's why I try to ignore every leak & leak discussion as much as possible. But luckily, I didn't even know what SNK was at the time (still kinda don't tbh). So I was significantly hype for Mr. Bogard despite having never played Fatal Fury in my life. I might even main him since I can't use Ryu or Ken to save my life.

I’ve never played KoF, Fatal Fury, or Metal Slug, especially since I’m kind of a new gamer (I started getting serious about the hobby about three years ago). But just because of Terry’s inclusion and after learning how important SNK is to gaming, I’m definitely going to find a way to play all three games I mentioned earlier. My initial reaction wasn’t very hype. I had never heard of Terry before. I’m taking this as an opportunity to educate myself and potentially discover a new favorite game. It’s been the same with Persona 5, Banjo, and Dragon Quest for me. When I get my Switch I’m getting the new Dragon Quest game. Idk about P5 and Banjo, though.
Great yo see this mentality. Word of warning though: their games are great, but they're often not easy. Be prepared for some difficulty spikes along the way(and to curse Rugal, Geese and Wolfgang Krauser, because holy crap. SNK bosses are on a whole new level)

While Terry is just an awesome guy, has confidence and just thoroughly enjoys a good brawl but is still a nice guy; He asks you if you're ok before hitting you with one of his strongest move and no mention his JoJo pose (Stand Up) is one of my favorite win pose of all time, specially the one with a young Rock imitating him.
Terry: ARE YOU OK?!
Reactors: HELL YEAH!
Pat's nigh-infantile but incredibly genuine tiny clap and "Yeeeeey!" warms my heart every time.
strange to look back to when i had no clue who terry was and now here i am a year later and he’s one of my favorite characters in the whole game
Maximillian dood was the most hype about this. How did he not make it on this?
Ragged says he keeps getting takedown claims from people repping max so
@@nicholaswhite7056 Yeah, Dood is garbage like that.
@@SodaPopBarbecue wait but, are you talking about Max or people striking the channel in his name (without him asking them to do it in the first place).
@@KinekaiNHFan People are doing it on his behalf, sooooo...
Didn't he pay someone to put a video in his channel?
Ragged, as someone who watched thru a bunch of reactions myself prior to this being uploaded, I gotchu by what you mean in that it's draining to see so many reactions be "oh" or like "just ken with a hat" or "what even is a fatal fury"
I got no fuckin' idea what Fatal Fury is. And y'know what, back in the day of Smash 64, I had no fuckin' idea what an Earthbound was. This is literally what Smash does best: show you an amazing series to check out.
Thank you very much for including me in your video! Greetings from Argentina!
Holy fuck, you madlad. Literally NO compilations EVER have Angriest Pat! NONE.
BUT THERE HE IS! YOU DID IT!
Good to see cultured gamers excited for Terry instead of scrubs who don't know a great character when they see him
One reason I hate the directs is because the chat is so damn disrespectful and undeserving. Like I get it, your character didn't get in, you don't want weeb shit, and so on.
Well excuse me for not being good at video games in the days of Neo Geo and just not being part of the fighting game community.
@@edmg7 I sucked hard at fighting games in the Neo-Geo era to mate, hell when I heard that an SNK character was gonna be in I was hoping to be from Metal Slug
@@joshuakorynta3385 Exactly. Like almost every chat of streamers had toxicity of varied levels...ugh.
@@edmg7 I'm also pretty bad at fighting games unlike Smash
I like this reaction video the best. Right up there with "Latinos React to Terry" and Maximilian Dood.
If you'd told be beforehand that Terry Bogard was going to be in Smash, I wouldn't have believed you. Unbelievably glad to be proven wrong. To see so many people so hyped about his inclusion reminds me of how I felt when I saw Richter would be playable. It goes to show that no matter how popular they might be to this group or that, every new fighter is special to someone.
Seeing Matt and Pat react back to back was bittersweet. I can only imagine the combined freak out if they were still working with each other.

That was one crazy hype compilation. You got yourself a subscriber.
They said sorry but I get the feeling that they didn't take it seriously.
I mean, can't we learn anything from Ryu and how nobody had a hyped reaction to him because it had been leaked?
@@BJGvideos Boy, do I wish they would. That's why I try to ignore every leak & leak discussion as much as possible. It's probably why I didn't immediately realize Banjo & Kazooie were in Smash until I saw them in the sunset during their trailer.
As for Terry, I kept seeing the word SNK thrown around. But luckily, I didn't even know what SNK was at the time (still kinda don't tbh). So I was significantly hype for Mr. Bogard despite having never played Fatal Fury in my life. I might even main him since I can't use Ryu or Ken to save my life.
Out of practically ANY franchise,Smash Bros has been leaked the most, real or fake.
Roy and Ryu were leaked during Smash 4 DLC,the ENTIRE Smash 4 roster was leaked by the ESRB,there was that fake Rayman leak, that ridiculous Grinch leaked that spoiled Ken and Incineroar,K Rool I'm pretty sure was leaked,Shulk was leaked before Smash 4 came out and now Terry has been leaked.
@@rayqcina4869 Oh I tried, but it was all over my Twitter feed! Coming from one person in particular. Someone told me "don't read them", but I'm not sure if that person expected me to be psychic and somehow know what the posts I was to skip had in them in advance or what.
I love how the NYC crowd just cheered *TERRY TERRY TERRY*
5:47 I feel you ZeRo :(
It's so nice to see all of these fans reactions to this because they deserved it
i remember watching this trailer and being the only one among my friends that was excited, being the only one among everyone to have ever played KOF or Fatal Fury in any regard. but seeing so many other people be genuinely happy and excited about the character makes me happy
@@scissorman44 Don't forget Goenitz and Magaki. Even Black Ash to some extent

This makes me so happy, just seeing their reactions. I have been waiting for this boy since ultimate got announced
It’s always hype seeing Fighting Game fans react to this.

Iori was laughing because he knew no one would beat him if he got in

Aw man, placing Matt and Pat right next to each other like that... Why you gotta break my heart?
Is it weird that I really want to see Kirby wearing Terry's trucker hat?
Makes me happy that people still appreciate Terry even if im 17 year old who only play capcom vs snk at the arcade
I think people being genuinely happy makes me feel good now seeing this
I like how no one wanted Nakoruru😂
That's cuz Kyo, Iori, and Terry exist.
As happy as I am that these people were able to name all the SNK characters....I'm REALLY triggered right now for the comments on my girl Nakoruru when she came onscreen 😡
Toshinegawa right? No friggin love! To me, she was some hot stuff!
After watching this video, my soul feels safe knowing that some people still loved Terry even after the Sans Takeover. Thanks for showing me this.
I agree completely I lost my mind at terry's reveal. If it wasn't for the sans memes I doubt the sans costume would have caused such an uproar. Although Fatal Fury and KOF's obscurity with the mainstream probably played a role in that as well

What about Rock?
@@apmas150 It can have Rock, but I think Rock's style don't fit with Mii Brawler's style. Rock's hand attacks uses more open palm than closed fists. Closed fists fits better with Joe, Ryo, Kyo, Yashiro, or (Top Hunter's) Roddy.
Mii Gunner fits better with Metal Slug's Marco (male) / Fio (female), one of the Beast Busters' main characters (Johnny, Paul, Sammy), Rick / Brook from Cyber-Lip, and Ikari Warriors version of Ralf / Clark.
Swordfighters fits better with Samurai Shodown's Haohmaru, Genjuro or Galford, Last Blade's Kaede, Moriya, or Washizuka, and Sengoku Denshou's main charactets.

Everyone should feel this happy at least once in their life haha
Everyone else: *sounds of hype*
Pat: *claps politely* Yay!
Ima be straight up, I’ve never heard of this game or Terry, but goddamn it I was hyped as fuck because he looks so fucking cool, especially knowing that if they did a reveal like that with characters trying to catch the envelope that the fans must be losing their fucking minds because this game must be a huge deal for them to tease like that.
This just shows that there is alot of hype for Terry despite the disappointment of alot of people.
Sakurai is just trying to make everyone happy you guys. He is accomplishing that flawlessly.
Also, fuck leaks.
I've personally never played a proper SNK game, just Capcom vs SNK 2. Even then, I still found this trailer to be among the absolute best reveals ever. I may not get most of this stuff, but I feel the passion enough to go "Every SNK enthusiast is losing their goddamn minds right now every second of these teases."
And even not knowing these characters, I love the presentation of taking these old intros and making them all flip out over the letter, it was hysterical. THAT is how you even impress someone who's unfamiliar with the series, you make even the trailer fun.
But all of these characters in the trailer are in CVS2 I find it pretty impressive that you didn't ever fight them lol
This is the first video in nearly a year where Matt and Pat are in the same video together
Ima be real. Im seriously looking forward for Terry 😂 Is all thanks to my older cousins that I got to know about Fatal Fury.
