    Hey Nick,
Completely off topic to this video.
I've been watching your 66 thunderbird videos as a new owner of a 64, pulling my hair out with all the cowboy crap that previous owners have done. Your videos have helped a lot.
One piece of advice I would offer to you, one old guy to another. Invest in a cheap 45 dollar blue closed cell foam sleeping bag mat. It doesn't soak up water. It's great to lie on. You can cut it up to fit a particular place in the car. It's the best 45 bucks (CDN) you can spend when you are working on these old cars. Trust me, your joints and back will thank you.

Hi Nick, I don't think those door latch assembly attaching screws were painted body color originally. That door face has clearly been repainted at some point and it looks like the painter in haste just sprayed right over the mounting screws & latch, rubber bumpers and even the weatherstrip! Low buck re-paint. I'd like to see you post a video doing this on a '64 - '66 Thunderbird door and maybe you already have? Please keep the videos coming, they are all interesting and informative even if they don't specifically pertain to Thunderbird's.

Hey Scott, you were the first one to leave a comment so you win a million dollars and an evening with Scarlett Johansson. NOT! Wouldn't that be great though? Yes, your right, a bad repaint. And the new non-methylene chloride aircraft paint remover sucks and wont take the paint off. I liked the old stuff that would take off your skin if you touched it without gloves, and did irreparable damage to your sinus' if you sniffed it. Ah, the good old days. And when you unscrewed the latch screws that were painted over, it would chip the paint around the screw hole usually. I did some of the latch stuff with the Thelma and Louise car. I don't remember any details right now because my mind is gone. Thanks.

@@vintagethunderbirdrepair9426 Nick, please send me my winnings in the gold equivalence. As for an evening with Mz Johansson, I'm free any time she is! LOL. Don't even get me started on today's lame chemical paint strippers which are basically nothing but a waste of money and time. I long for those good ole days...

Hey Scott, yeah, everything is water based today. However, that new paint stripper still smells really bad. I didnt look at the ingredients but its pretty nasty. I saw an ad for Citristrip. They say that is not too bad. I guess Ill be using my sander. 😒

Hi nick Thank you for the informational videos! Question: does the original gas tank have a drain plug and where is it located? Can I reuse the old filler tube seal if I remove the tank to clean it? Also I love your black 66 tbird convertible with white interior you bought in sherman oaks! 🤩 Any more videos of that black 66 tbird convertible? ☺

Hey theoldcar, thank you very much. I have reused the filler neck O ring a few times but they are available new now so my advice is to get a new one. If the old one is not torn or cut in any way, I guess you could reuse it. Use assembly lube on it. I dont have any more videos on the black 66 conv yet but some day. I want to make a convertible top repair video with it when I get around to working on it again. Thanks.

Hi nick Thank you for the informational videos!
Question I have severely oxidized internal rear taillight len for the 66 Thunderbird that is basically white while the other side is nice and red. cleaned outside with good plastic restore and no good.
So anyway how do I remove the rear taillight lenses for cleaning? Also I need to replace some taillight bulbs as well. 😂😊

You have to remove all the trim around the lenses, then the center lens, then the outer lenses. You can see and access all the screws. Its not hard. You can buy the lenses and gaskets new. Good luck.

Have to say that that power window motor looks pretty small and weak compared to the 61 Lincoln and Thunderbird window motors.

Hey Jeff, its pretty heavy and I'm surprised its square. Usually electrical motors are round for obvious reasons. Ive seen them before but never work with any. I'm anxious to take it apart and fiddle with it, see what makes it tick. Once again, this Cadillac doesn't hold a candle to the Thunderbird.
