  • Sid and I return to the UK and leave Noel and Roy behind at the Hidden House Ireland. It's heart-wrenching, but necessary and we know it's only temporary. Knuckle down, toughen up and keep your eye fixed on the goal!

One of your best videos today to date! My heart aches as I remember leaving Ireland every time I say goodbye to my brother in the summertime and I have to come back to the states. Ireland gets in your bones especially when your ancestors are Irish 100%.. thank you for sharing your thoughts and reminders to be grateful every moment of every day for the luxuries we have in the western civilized world. You are a treasure 🙏 🫶🏼

@@muireannin09 Ah you are a treasure for leaving such a lovely comment. Thanks Marie Ann, Yes there is something about Ireland, you can’t explain it you have to experience it. Being off grid somehow enhances it too. Not sure of the Irish word but they call it a ‘thin place’. 😊🙏🏼🙌❤️

My now husband and I spent just over two years with him living in London whilst I was in Scotland over 40 years ago. Well before internet and mobiles. It was hard but we survived and looking back it seems such a short blip in our time together. You do what you need to and both you and Noel will see this to the end. You are so passionate about this project. Your passion will see you through these more difficult times. Just imagine what is at the end of this tunnel. Time will be flying by before you know it. Hold onto those wonderful memories of the wonderful countryside.

@@eleanorb1400 Thanks so much for sharing this Eleanor. London to Scotland is quite a hike and 2 years is probably around the same timeline as we’ll be looking at. You had it much tougher than we do because internet really does make a difference. We speak three or four times a day when busy and sometimes more so still feel very connected. Saturday evenings and Sundays are probably the worse because that’s when you want to chill out and have down time with your family. I think that’s when we miss each other most. But the rest of the time we’re all busy doing our own thing. I appreciate what you say about perspective. I have a vision of us sitting out on our decking on a golden sunset evening reminiscing about the good old days when we peed in a bucket! 🤣 All will be well. Thank you for your beautiful words of encouragement and for your kindness. 😊❤️🙏

It is so sad that you have to leave your hubby and beautiful dog behind for so long. It must feel like a bereavement when you leave? But as others have said on here, we do what we have to do for the good of our future. It does make us appreciate each other and our surroundings more, when they are not taken for granted. Declan and I had to live apart for the first year after Eoin was born waiting for a VISA to bring him to the US. We only were able to visit every few months. Then, when we were all living in the States, but had this house in West Clare, Eoin and I used to spend 2 months in the summer at our house in Ireland and Declan would come for the last 2 weeks. The first year we tried it with Declan coming the first two weeks and then leaving, but it was sad when he'd leave. Having him come at the end was better. It's amazing how things just become a new normal. I understand how hard it is for you to leave the house and the land too, It would always be sad to leave here and go back to Chicago. I felt like the house would miss us!
You'll probably be so busy with the job and Sid with school that the time will fly by until late November. Then you'll have to readjust to being together again! Imagine how nice it will be to go back to Ireland to see all the work that will be done!
I have to add, don't you just love the Obama Plaza?!

The house may well take longer than 13 months to be habitable but the grant situation is constantly under review as the demand for tradesmen outweighs supply.
