It is truly amzing what Alekna does. At the age of just 21, he is throwing distancs that boggle the mind. Throwers tend to peak around 28 - 32 so he has such a long way to go until his prime where he can gain more experience. We are in a golde age of discus with Alekna alongside Ceh and Stahl.
The angular velocity of his legs and arms are amazing. It's obvious he's spent a lot of time on mobility rather than pure strength development. What impressed me was his neck position. He holds it at or near the same position throughout the throw. One mistake I see too often is throwers extend or dip their chin which elicits the tonic neck reflex hence erratic response from the extremities when asked to extend at maximum velocity. If you'll notice at the time of release he's extended the neck slightly which generates all of the force from his extensors in the upper and lower extremities. A once in a generation gift from the throwing Gods in which his Dad is one. It would be great if you could interview his Dad or his Coach at Cal, Mo Saatara.
He was definitely playing the wind that day. Reportedly it was over 10mps, and just the right direction for a righthander. So, yeah, he'd be oriented toward the right sector here. Definitely expect to see him setting up a little differently in a stadium/no wind setting.
The three-word answer is "with wind assistance". Simples. And he could have thrown further, in my opinion, had he bombed it down the left side of the field.
Women’s dirty discus record is the hardest 😅😂. But the Hammer record also set in 1986. Now that is the hardest to break? Or is that considered not clean as well?
Lmao. In track the jumping and running events cannot be legal with a certain amount of win. I’m here to say he won’t EVER top it without those hurricane force winds. Carl Lewis ran a world record but it was wind aided. Why shouldn’t the same standard be for the throws. How much can wind help push a 175 lbs man vs a 4lb discus? That record is bullshit.
Throw farther with thrower specific training!!💪

Amazing, and so relaxed looking. I really noticed he doesn’t even carry the discus at shoulder height out of the back of the circle.

Simply amazing analysis. Could have done a shout out to that awesome official in the white shirt though. Keep doing what you do so well.

That’s not accurate about 10 m/s
@@OverweightBusiness Interesting. Were you there? I wasn't, but heard the wind was 20++ mph.
@@lease2coach1the video I saw it was a ridiculous amount of wind. If it were a jump or a running event it wouldn’t have counted as a WR.
@@lease2coach1if you heard the wind was 20+ mph you answered the question. He didn’t have to be there.
