He was and will always be the best professor of the sport. Never any drama or bad press or anything negative about John Meadows in over 30+years. So much knowledge and such a humble gentle man. May he continue to rest in peace.
My biceps were stalled until I followed his advice and start with hammer/crossbody curls, then do preacher curls. It really helped me finally see an actual peak on the biceps
Just started back in the gym after a year lay off due to health issues. I found his videos and loved them right away cause he is so simple and to the point. Makes everything I do during my workouts work the right muscles. This video reminds me to just lift what is smart not to hurt myself. Rest in Peace to a great influence and instructor even today.
I've never met John, we all miss him. His family is always on our hearts and may they always be inspired by his loving memories that he created. His impact on the ones he never knew will always thrive in us. Thank you
I get so many good videos from him. I didn’t know he had passed until recently 😢. Seems like such a good dude too, so much wisdom, and so humble. Thank you legend. Rest in peace
What a good man he was. Excellent weight trainer and extremely considerate to everyone. Very knowledgeable and understanding in that we are all different and weight training therefore can be different for some of us. Patient, teaches the correct form but also understands that cheating a little on movements is ok. You will still build muscle. God bless you Mountain Dog.
Don’t think I’ve ever listened to a bad tip from this Man. I hope his Legacy continues to live on for decades. Godfather of Bodybuilding as it should be.
I have to say there’s a difference between form and contraction I can do some seriously heavy lifts, perfect form No contraction what so ever All of a sudden I drop the weight and I’m lifting the same as the 19 year old kid next to me, I look and start to feel phenomenal . Mountain dog nails it, control your ego
thats the advice I give new guys starting to work out ( don't ego lift ) don't stress about what others are lifting they didn't start off using heavier weights, it came on gradually over time, one of the quicker ways to injure yourself is by letting your ego take over , practice good form with intensity , lift what you can lift , compete with yourself and use of spotters to bust through plateaus ....
He only showed doing one hammer curl with his right arm and could watch how because it went to the next. Does he twist his wrist towards the top or just keep them straight the whole time ?
I always looked at iy like this, if u cant currl it without moving your elbows too much... its too heavy for you. You can proceed to curl it if you want.. but when the bicep is in a stretched position the tendon is working hard. Notice many bicep tears occur when people are doing full preacher curls with heavy weight and barbell curls heavy weight.
I agree with number 1... when the form cannot be maintained at that weight however i reduce the weight and go until i can not maintain good form again. Then reduce the weight again and repeat.
There’s a new study out that would support what he’s saying stretching out the bicep. To make it short and I don’t want to butcher the idea, implement weighted stretches, I would likely do any weighted stretch at the end of my exercise or set using that muscle group. That is actually what I have used through the years and one year I saw some explosive growth in my bicep and I would hold the weight after my curls because I could feel the fatigue and thought it was a good idea to finish my set by holding the weight a little longer.
I am so glad to hear some one actually say reverse curl it yess very valuable for strengthening the forearm bones 🦴 and wrist bones which helps give protection against wrist and forearm breaks , especially against guy’s who have knowledge about breaking them in altercations brawls and wrestling .! ? What’s even worse than that is this bones are essentially a bunch of pizzo-electric crystals set in a matrix of connective tissues the crystals are composed of calcium and phosphorus, called appetite crystals when your body bears weight it causes those crystals to emit an electric ⚡️ charge that causes those bones to gain more mass and density. Strengthening Those bones . But all bones are constructed this way and weight trading puts off arthritis to some degree because of this “ electric ⚡️ “ connection. And guys that train their forearms hit harder in boxing and martial arts and other hand to hand combat endeavors. It also toughens the forearms as weapons. And also gives more knockout power and power break rib cages ..
It's not click bait if the video is LEGIT and contains what the title advertises. Should they not post reels at all? Or should they give them bland titles that get no views. It's honorable to bring this content to as many eyes as possible

It’s crazy how many guys trade full range of motion for more weight. These are the same people who never grow and yet somehow manage to end up with herniated discs from curls 😂
I just started working out a week ago. Did those inclined curls and still can't straighten out my elbows. Its been 3 days of the most delightful pain. 😂
I swear John said in another video to do half reps when tired to really get to failure. I’ve been doing that and I’ve seen and felt the difference on my bicep and forearm.
He did. The problem I think is these are clips and we are missing some parts of the full story. He could be talking to people jist starting out needing to learn mechanics.
This caption style is very distracting, especially since it didn't turn out to be very accurate. Definitely would be nicer to see fixed captions or none at all. Thanks regardless for the video! Just discovered the Mountain Dog and im gonna suffer through some Meadows rows right now!! 💪🏽
So true. Sadly for me I’m strong pretty much everywhere except biceps. Even strong in back excercises but biceps alone I’m terrible 😅 but good form feels good
cant do incline dumbell curl, right forearm hurts bad in thid position, i guess reason being i can' stretch my arm fully since 15 years because i had an ellbow (radialis head) injury..but i do my best to strengten this arm anyways.. i have bigger forearms than biceps lol😂
He’s still helping make a difference to this day.
Amen to that...I've got improvements because of him.

preacher curls though can be dangerous

The vertical format made it to where I couldn’t see the curl. And at the end, after all the build up, I just saw a regular curl.

Is a little lean back okay. Strict form I do like 13 reps 15 lbs. 11 reps 20 lbs and 5-6 25 lbs with a little bit swinging
So basically train the long head of the biceps with behind the back curls and reverse curls for the brachialis.
