Probably one of the best crash course guides to a spec I've seen, my raid group has been asking me to ditch holy for this whole dps disco priest stuff for a few weeks now and am finally going to put it to the test next raid, but I think I got it all down, but thank you Hirumaredx, your guide was quick, to the point, easy to follow and covered just about anything that was needed, earned that like and sub!
I think you misunderstood what I was talking about, which is understandable since I just said bubble and that usually means Power Word:Shield. By putting a big bubble on the tank I meant casting a flash/greater heal on the tank with focus for the divine Aegis, or spirit shell. I mean I usually just use it on prayer of healing or for a flash heal on myself if I'm low. But you can use it to bubble the tank (Aegis the tank) if you want.
Oh yah the description. I just copy and paste it from notepad and my notepad doesn't have spell check, and I'm a little dyslexic, in that I spell things backwords, just strait up spell them wrong, or capitalize things that don't need to be. I'll go through and check that out. And as for keeping it up, I'm still pretty bad at that. I should really just add it to my cooldown timer lol
Thank you thank you thank you. I just hit 90, and everything before hitting 90 is just heal and bubble heal and bubble. I had no idea that there was a method to the madness (stat priority) as well as casting priority for attonement. You've just saved me from being the embarrassingly lowest healer. At 515 ilvl I can't do much anyway, but at least now I can continue to gear, correct my reforges, and do atonement healing correctly. THANK YOU.
Well a macro for inner Focus and greater heal would be easy to make /cast Greater Heal /cast Inner Focus Since inner focus is not on the GCD there isn't really anything special for using it in a macro, except that it woun't work 100% of the time with a casted spell. Yuor best bet is to have it macroed with an instant cast ability. I use Prayer of mending because its instant cast and I use it often. Alternatively you could macro it with Solace since its instant and you use it off cooldown
Everything is pretty much interchangeable in 10 and 25 for atonement. Halo might be more useful in 25 mans but other than that I can't really think of anything else that would be all that different.
What is your best macros man, i have none simply cause i think its complicated to write them. Would be very happy if you could write down them =). included the macro for Inner focus + say greater heal. Best regards
Hi,i 'm playing 4.5.8 i have many doubt. For example, why is so important as disci healer make so much DAMAGE also with spells like shadow word pain and shadow word death, that don t healwith attunement.Wich is better combo as healer between mindender and solace and insanity? Thanks
I still don't understand after watching guides from many people, doing 5-man dungeons, and trying these guides myself on how to heal. I feel like I'm doing something wrong no matter what I try. I follow what I believe to be the priority, but I'm still not even surpassing 30k HPS. What am I doing wrong? I'm tracking my buffs on targets, and using my PoM, Penance, and Arch on CD, and mixing spells together that are used at crucial moments, but I still don't understand what I'm doing wrong.
Hi, nice guide. I just begin Atonement and it helps me to get the mechanics of the fight. I wonder what addons provides the CD's tracker bar ? It's quite usefull because sometimes I just forgot some casts (I usually play Drood Heal) ? If you can get the name for me, it would be perfect. Thanks again for the guide.
Just a few questions...Why does arch angel need to be kept up, does it increase heals from atonement or just straight heals? and also, should power word shield be used at all?
Arch angel does increase the healing of attonement as well as all other heals, thats why you use it. And power word shield is just used like an emergency heal if someone drops really low. or if your about to take a ton of incoming damage. Basically just use it like you would any other heal and not for mana
hirumaredx Disagreed... PW: S should be used very, very often. Keep track of Rupture, that's what it's there for, it completely resolves the mana cost problem associated with it. We're disc priests, we're all about damage mitigation... I found this guide to be helpful in some ways and laughable in others. But I guess we all have our own healing styles.......
I would reccommend Penance as a must. Inner Sanctum as optional. Other quite good for disc is Glyph of prayer of mending and binding heal. Binding heal will help a lot on the disc priest lack of healing multiple targets quickly
I think you've misunderstood the mechanic of Inner focus. It only affects 3 spells. Which is Flash Heal, Greater Heal and Prayer of Healing. It does not grant 100% crit chance to any other spells so getting that massive crit bubble on a tank as you describe, doesn't work, unfortunately :| Great vid though, cant wait for more :)
Oops my bad. I read that wrong :P so for SW:P you don't want to use it at all, it provides no healing. But if healing isn't really a problem, I use it regularly on farm content for extra dps
hirumaredx really? how is it bad? It works good when people are spread out and even better when people are stacked. With good amounts of crit it can be used as huge preventing shields for the whole raid, then shield up remaining, also as a healing spell that yourself said disc priest lacked. It's all about placement, which is the hard part, but skilled players will use this the most once they learn how to master it. Togather with angelic feather, you can quickly run into placement and back again in almost every encounter. You obviously haven't seen the full potential of it. To say its bad, its just way off when you have a guide for people.
It's to situational. Its good for healing the blobs on heroic immersion but rarely do you want to take it over cascade which is much better in almost all other cases.
hirumaredx Well, you have no arguments. Cascade is good, but its quite situational as well. To have it heal well, it has to bounce far to do the best out of it. And that has quite a random factor as well with distance. And even then it doesnt even come close to Halos max heals on max range. Halo used well is better. I reccommend a addon called Halopro, it will give the most out of it. If you are not bothered to learn it, then whatever. But dont teach others thats its crap, because it isnt. It is really good as disc, simply because it heals much more and gives a much larger absorb on crits. Also, I've heard most top guilds priests use it over any of the other 90 talents. At first I didnt believe it, because I thought it was crap, but then I learnt to use it somewhat, and it really blew my HPS off the roof in almost every fight. But its hard to use, and I would agree that Cascade is a much safer choise for beginners.
You make a compelling argument for halo. DA should be your number heal and getting giant bubbles on half your raid every 40 seconds would boost your HPS. BUT, its too situational and positional. Not really a problem in 25 man, big problem in 10 man. if you can get its full effect every cooldown then great, take it over cascade. Realistically when does this ever happen outside of the turtle boss in ToT? it also depends on how our raid decides to do the boss fights. If your running out of the group to cast an optimal Halo and then running back in your losing all the healing that could have been thrown into PoH. But thats more of a 10 vs 25 man problem. Its probably worth it to do that for 25 man, while not at all worth it for 10 man. Most fights your stacked up for heavy healing and thats really where it all counts. Fights where you spread out for heavy healing would include Himmersion, Hsha, paragons, and Garrosh. There might be one more, or a few more depending on how you do it. So your right in a way, its not bad, its just situational and the situation that calls for it is few and far in between in SoO. But going into super detail on a niche spell is kind of a waste of time. I'd rather just argue the point in the comments if someone decides to nit pick rather than make the video longer than it needs to be.

Dude your gonna love healing as a priest. Atonement is the best
Well a macro for inner Focus and greater heal would be easy to make
/cast Greater Heal
/cast Inner Focus

That was a big help. I was playing my priest wrong (ill advised by a friend who plays wrong it would appear).
Got a lot to try now
Yay! Can't wait for more videos!

Ah, i see. All good then :P
How's it going with keeping archangel up? :) (it says arch angLE in description btw :o )
Hi, nice guide. I just begin Atonement and it helps me to get the mechanics of the fight.

Thanks again for the guide.
The addon is called "Shot watch" or "Watcher". Two names but both are the exact same add-on
Just a few questions...Why does arch angel need to be kept up, does it increase heals from atonement or just straight heals? and also, should power word shield be used at all?

yah its not that important anymore, but it was for years so I understand the disagreement.
Sorry what glyphs should i be getting? And for some reason, when i do a lot of dungs, my tank is almost dying when i do this spec
That covers it all pretty much. Personally I use Penance, Holy fire, and Binding heal. But I change out that 3rd one depending on the fight
I would reccommend Penance as a must. Inner Sanctum as optional. Other quite good for disc is Glyph of prayer of mending and binding heal. Binding heal will help a lot on the disc priest lack of healing multiple targets quickly
Thanks man, this was helpful ! ;)
very good vid ! thanks !
btw man which build you recommend for 25?

Epic End!
sorry i meant shadow word pain

I'm wondering should i still be using SW:P?
Sure, its probably the best quick raid save in the game. It's also great for the Dino fight were you can't cast
Many heals, much math, so mana, wow!
awesome :3
its CASS KADE not coscade
Ok, I just stopped watching when you said Halo isnt good. you really don't have a full grasp of your class aperently
Thats because its bad yo
