Synopsis:Finney Shaw is a shy but clever 13-year-old boy who's being held in a soundproof basement by a sadistic, masked killer. When a disconnected phone on the wall starts to ring, he soon discovers that he can hear the voices of the murderer's previous victims -- and they are dead set on making sure that what happened to them doesn't happen to Finney.

This one just made me sad as a father, because you realize that when these things do get found out the son doesn’t magically come walking out of the house across the street…..they just find him buried with the rest.

it’s interesting to me, that no one realizes, that the kid basically saved himself and would’ve been dead if he didn’t fight back because no one was coming to save him at that house. This gave me chills first time I watched it.

Watching iconic slasher movies is one thing. But I always find watching home invasion, or movies like this to be really creepy. Because you know there are actually people out there who could and would do this stuff. Which is a whole other level of terror

Finn as well as his sister inherited their mother's "Gift" - The sister had dreams that gave her clues as to what was happening and he could communicate with the dead

Loved this movie! Finn was such an amazing main character! Most horror movies have moronic protagonists, but this kid was so resourceful and became an absolute little badass! His development was honestly incredible. New favorite of mine for sure!
"finns arm is mint" easily one of my favorite lines in cinema. Really cool how they used something each of the kids said to finn, but made it so it was meant for the grabber all along

oh HELL yeah im so glad you watched this movie. its among my favourite movies of 2022, its so original and unique. every kid helping Finney to escape with something different (the bike lock, the freezer etc) really hit me. especially knowing they're all dead. something not a lot of people noticed is that all boys had bruises that are consistent with SA, that's why the blonde one (cant remember how to spell his name rn) was so angry.
Saw this movie a few days ago for the firt time and I can honestly say that it has become my favourite horror/thriller movie. It simply is amazing, scary, suspensful and really good payoff. Finney used all of the things the others called him for in the final battle. When the kid tought him to fight I had chills and for me it is the best scene of the movie along with the moment where Finney is about to kill the kidnaper and aswers the phone with the line "It's for you".
Anyway, great reaction as always!

The black phone was actually loosely inspired by the John Wayne Gacy case he was a serial killer in the 70s who took boys to his house did awful things to them before killing them and burying the bodies in his crawlspace
I remember watching this in theaters with my girl and may I just say Jesus! Amazing performance by Hawke 🎉

I feel like if the movie IT would have been based on a true story, this would be that true story. Also, this movie was written by Joe Hill who’s Stephen King’s son.
It doesn’t work to think it as a true story tho because Finney and Gwen have abilities so
the movie had different writers, it was just based off a short story by him and they added a ton of stuff that’s wasn’t part of the original story, so it’s not completely accurate to give him all the credit.

I watched this movie in theaters and I was so uneasy the whole time and I loved it. Definitely a different vibe with it but I really enjoyed the movie. Suspenseful as hell.

Really great horror movie. Honestly I didn’t expect to be this awesome (I knew it has to be good but I didn’t think it would be that great). The acting, the fact this can happen any time to anyone and the masks, Oh I love how different Grabber looks with every single piece of the mask. Really great movie and defenetly one of my favorite.
I loved this movie. One of my favorite of the year, and not just in the genre. I love when movies are able to blend horror and drama so well. Not only was I tense and scared the entire movie, but I got super emotional a couple of times. So well made.
Ethan Hawk playing the villain was incredible. All the kids gave amazing preferences in this movie.

So glad you watched this. Saw this in the cinema and im not even joking when i say that this movie scared me for the first time in years watching a horror movie in the cinema. The actors and movie overall is brilliant and have become one of my absolute favorite horror movie.
Black Phone was a short story written by Joe Hill, who is actually Stephen King’s son! It was published in a collection of short stories, 20th Century Ghosts. Apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, I guess. 🤷🏼♀️

I thought this movie would be good but it was better than i expected
This movie creeped me out bigtime and made me so scared the whole time. Especially being a mother. Also it's not confirmed why the Grabber is broken. Whether it was due to his own child abuse OR if he had a normal childhood & still ended up broken (Which is even scarier, when you think about it). It's not confirmed because like Ethan Hawke said himself, "because it doesn't matter why he's broken, what matters is he IS broken."
The movie shows the Grabber was a sick paedophile that murders his victims after they play his "naughty boy" game. They made a few subtle signs to show what he was, hence why he was shirtless, & why one victim mentions the grabbers "favourite" part of naughty boy etc.
Also noticed that the Grabber did, in fact pick certain types of kids. The Grabber only picks boys and notice how they all have long hair, that he can play with.😖
This was a solid horror movie of 2022. I really loved it

I think you need to extend SebScream past Halloween, because there are far too many fun horrors you haven't seen [The Exorcist (1973), Scream 2-5, Sinister, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Halloween (1978 & 2018), Ready or Not (horror comedy), Lights Out, The Ring (2002), The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003), etc.] and waiting till next Halloween is too tall an ask.
This movie was good. It was also filmed in the town I grew up in

I remember seeing this opening weekend. Some of the best jump scares I’ve ever seen. Had me jumping left and right lmao. For a really scary found footage movie, I’d recommend Hell House LLC. Scariest movie I’ve ever seen.

The differences between the movie and the story.
• In the original story Robin and Vince didn’t exist
• Bruce never said “your arm is mint” Bruce said “you were dirty”.
• Gwinny was two years older then Finn but we never got a confirmation if she was older in the movie or not.
• Finn’s name is actually John Finney and Gwinny’s name was actually Susannah.
• Al (the grabber) didn’t wear masks in the story
• in the story Finney stayed in the basement for 3+ days.
I had a dream about some instagram influencer getting robbed and the next day she had said in her stories that some guy had been stalking and creeping on them saying some nasty things. So yeah I freaked out a little bit that day so I think some people probably could see real things in dreams

You should really watch "Lights Out"! It's really good and got some really good jump scares as well as build ups! I watched it first time when I was 10, so I was pretty old and I got really scared, at the time it was the scariest movie I had ever seen and I had seek a lot lol, It's really good tho!

So I know a lot of people didn't like this movie but I genuinely loved this movie. There's just enough information that we're not overloaded and we also don't get a reason why he's doing this. And I like that we dont know anything about him or why hes doing this. I like that we don't get that answer. And I know that's what some people don't like. But I love the masks and how he can take bits and pieces off and put more on to make it look differently. And the voice changes that he uses, how itll get darker and growly but then it'll sound lighter. The dad can fuck off. I hate the dad. He should have died. I don't care they could have run him over with the police car by accident but he was a violent abusive asshole and I hated him so much. The little sis though. She's that bitch you want in your corner at all times. I always laugh at the "what the fuck Jesus" part.
